Major organizations use WordPress in different ways: for a portfolio of publishing sites, a content platform, or one part of a broader digital experience. But a logo on a WordPress vendor’s customer page does not establish that the organization’s main homepage runs on WordPress. The documented examples below distinguish what the sources actually establish from what they do not.

What “using WordPress” means for a large organization

WordPress can power an entire content operation or just one component of a company’s digital presence. WordPress VIP describes enterprise WordPress as potentially “the entire backbone or a key component of your digital customer experience.” That distinction matters: a company may use WordPress for a newsroom, a brand site, or a publishing portfolio without using it for its corporate homepage or every site it operates.

The official sources available for this article document a curated set of organizations, not 40 individually verified current deployments. For that reason, the names below are presented with the evidence and scope attached rather than as a claim that all 40 main websites use WordPress.

Organizations documented by WordPress.org and WordPress VIP

WordPress.org’s enterprise showcase displays the following organization or publication names. The page presents enterprise uses but does not identify the specific property associated with each logo, so the listing is evidence of an association in the showcase—not proof of a particular homepage’s technology.

WordPress VIP’s About page lists these notable customers. This is a vendor customer-list claim; it does not specify which property each organization uses or establish that its entire web estate runs on WordPress.

Some names appear in both vendor materials, including Meta/Facebook, so the lists should not be added together as though every entry were a separate, independently verified deployment.

A detailed portfolio example: News Corp Australia

A 2020 WordPress.org case study describes News Corp Australia moving “90+ brands” to WordPress as a site production platform. The case study also says the company hosted “40+ sites” on WordPress and used a base theme, a vetted core suite of plugins, and more than 50 custom plugins integrated with broader systems. These are historical figures reported in the 2020 case study, not current counts.

This example demonstrates why “a brand uses WordPress” can describe a portfolio-wide publishing model rather than a single public homepage. It also shows that an enterprise deployment may involve substantial custom development and integration rather than an unmodified, standalone installation.

More organizations named in WordPress VIP enterprise material

WordPress VIP’s enterprise examples material includes Capgemini, Hachette Book Group, Facebook, Quartz, TechCrunch, and FiveThirtyEight in a linked client/platform PDF. The available material supports identifying them as examples named in vendor case-study materials; it does not, by itself, establish the exact current property or technical scope for each. Verify the individual case study before describing a particular site or implementation detail.

How to read the evidence before repeating a claim

  • Customer listing: Establishes that a vendor identifies an organization as a customer, not that its main site is WordPress-powered.
  • Showcase logo: Establishes that the brand appears in a showcase, but may not name the relevant property.
  • Case study: Can provide stronger scope and implementation detail, but figures remain tied to that publisher and publication date.
  • Direct technical evidence: Needed to make a current claim about a specific domain when no current first-party or vendor case study identifies it.

WordPress VIP says it is trusted by more than 700 enterprises on its About page accessed September 30, 2026; the page does not date that figure. The same vendor says WordPress VIP served 22 billion requests with 100% uptime on U.S. election night 2024. Treat that as WordPress VIP’s published claim, not an independent audit established by the cited material.

An Automattic customer-stories listing dated August 4, 2026 summarizes a Hong Kong Free Press story as reporting a 33% increase in donations. That result belongs to that customer story and should not be generalized as a typical WordPress outcome.

Why enterprise teams use WordPress in different ways

The documented deployments point to a flexible operating model rather than one standard configuration. Organizations may use WordPress as a content backbone, a network of publishing sites, or a component that works alongside other systems. WordPress.org’s enterprise page describes uses including e-commerce, content marketing, and higher education; WordPress VIP positions its managed platform around hosting, security, scalability, and analytics. Those are vendor descriptions of capabilities and positioning, not guarantees of outcomes for every implementation.

For a large publisher or organization, the relevant questions are the scope of the sites being managed, who operates the platform, how it integrates with other systems, and what governance, support, security, and publishing workflows are required. News Corp Australia’s 2020 case study offers one concrete portfolio example, but it should not be treated as a universal blueprint.
