There is no proven universal winner. For an internet radio station that prioritizes cloud operation and remote DJs, SAM Broadcaster Cloud is a documented candidate; for scheduled automation and rebroadcast workflows, Jazler RadioStar is worth evaluating. Neither is established by the available documentation as a complete, standalone YouTube Live solution. Radio playout and YouTube video delivery are separate jobs, so plan for both.
What “YouTube radio automation software” needs to do
A radio automation system manages station programming: playlists, scheduled playout and, depending on the setup, live-DJ handoffs or rebroadcasts. YouTube Live delivery is a separate encoder workflow: the encoder sends audio and video to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. YouTube’s setup guidance also calls for configuring audio and video inputs. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe that delivery layer, not a radio automation product.
That separation matters if you want a continuous radio stream with a visual on YouTube. Your station may need an additional encoder or a visual layer—such as a static image, video loop or graphics—alongside its playout system. A vendor article from Castr says YouTube and some other services reject audio-only streams; treat that as secondary guidance and confirm the current requirements in YouTube’s own documentation. Castr’s explanation discusses the visual requirement.

The sources available for this comparison are primarily vendor pages, manuals and support documentation, rather than independent head-to-head tests. They do not establish a scored winner, comparable current prices or complete feature parity. Use the candidates below as starting points, then confirm the details for the exact product version and YouTube workflow you plan to run.
#1 Best Overall
- 12-channel mixer featuring Mackie signature high-headroom/low-noise design
- 4 boutique-quality Onyx mic preamps
- Improved RF rejection perfect for broadcast applications
- Phantom power for condenser mics
- 12 high-headroom line inputs
| Option | Documented fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos; it loops the video in the cloud, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. The first day is free. | It plays uploaded videos rather than live studio audio or camera input, so it is not a radio playout automation system. Check whether its YouTube-only workflow fits the station’s programming and visual needs. |
| SAM Broadcaster Cloud | Spacial describes cloud automation, remote DJs, included streaming and emergency failover. Live365 also lists SAM Broadcaster among examples of software used for computer-based LiveDJ broadcasting. | Confirm current features and tiers, supported destinations, whether a separate YouTube encoder or video compositor is needed, and which hosting arrangement suits your station. |
| Jazler RadioStar / SOHO | Jazler’s help materials cover automation workflows and playlist import. A RadioStar 2 manual describes scheduled rebroadcast and internet-stream inputs. | Confirm the current version, operating-system support, licensing, features in the edition you are considering, and how YouTube output will be handled. The RadioStar 2 manual is version-specific. |
| Rocket Broadcaster | Its documentation describes an audio streaming encoder compatible with radio automation systems and common Icecast/Shoutcast providers. | Decide whether you need that audio-streaming function in addition to YouTube delivery. The cited documentation does not establish direct YouTube video support. |
| OBS or another YouTube-compatible encoder | YouTube describes encoder-based streaming and lists encoder options including OBS. | Determine whether you need a static visual, video loop or graphics, and how you will handle continuous operation and recovery. An encoder complements playout automation; it does not replace it. |
How to choose for your station
Before buying or configuring software, map the station’s workflow from scheduled audio to the YouTube broadcast. Ask vendors to demonstrate the precise handoffs you need rather than assuming that “streaming” means YouTube Live video output.
- Programming: Check playlist and rotation controls, scheduling, live-assist features and how a DJ takes over or hands back to automation.
- Operation: Compare local versus cloud hosting, remote-DJ permissions, unattended recovery and the setup and support burden.
- Output: Confirm whether the system sends to YouTube directly, needs a separate encoder, or serves a different audio-streaming destination. Verify the video component as well as audio.
- Scale and cost: Check concurrent channels, station size, licensing and current total cost for the exact edition and hosting arrangement. Comparable current prices are not established here.
A practical YouTube Live workflow
- Confirm channel eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Live content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. These platform rules do not establish that you have the music rights needed for your station’s territory; confirm licensing separately. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Set up radio playout. Configure your chosen automation system to run the station’s playlists or scheduled programming. For a live-DJ workflow, test the handoff and what happens when the DJ disconnects. Live365 describes its LiveDJ mode as a computer-initiated session to a station and lists StationPlaylist, SAM Broadcaster and NextKast as examples of software that can be used. Its guidance recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi can cause drops. See Live365’s LiveDJ guidance.
- Provide a YouTube-compatible video signal. Decide whether the outgoing picture will be a static visual, a video loop or graphics. Configure the encoder’s audio and video inputs; a USB audio interface may be useful if the studio mixer or microphone needs to connect to a computer, but it is not required for every setup.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In YouTube’s live setup, obtain the server URL and stream key, then enter them in the encoder as YouTube instructs. Keep the key private and use YouTube’s current interface and guidance for the selected stream. YouTube encoder setup.
- Test the complete chain. Check that playout audio reaches the encoder, that the video signal is present, and that a scheduled-to-live-DJ transition behaves as intended. Review the YouTube preview before relying on the workflow for unattended operation.
Copyright and channel policy are part of automation
Automation can keep a schedule running; it cannot grant permission to broadcast the music in that schedule. Confirm that your station’s music and other material are licensed for the relevant territory and for YouTube distribution. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility page covers platform requirements, not a station’s music-rights clearance. Reused-content or copyright questions should be assessed against the material and the rights you hold; do not assume that a continuously running playlist is automatically permitted because it is automated.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a YouTube channel that continuously plays prerecorded radio-style video, rather than live studio audio, StreamNeo is a different approach: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded files stream as made, up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot; and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo is for uploaded videos, not live camera or studio-audio input. It streams to YouTube only. For Indian creators, UPI is available; cards are accepted worldwide. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
