For an Xbox Twitch stream, choose a USB webcam only after confirming that the exact camera model and revision works with your Xbox and streaming setup. Xbox supports connecting a webcam for native streaming, and Twitch names the Logitech C920 as general broadcast hardware—but that is not an Xbox compatibility guarantee. Neither source provides a definitive list of tested Xbox webcams.
What webcam works with Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S?
Xbox Wire’s native-streaming instructions cover Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and include connecting a webcam during setup. Twitch likewise says a compatible camera is needed to add webcam video to a Series X|S stream. However, Twitch does not publish a model-by-model compatibility list, and the available official guidance does not establish that every USB webcam will work.
That means there is no well-supported universal “best Xbox webcam” ranking. Treat any model suggestion as a starting point for a compatibility check, not a promise that it will work on every console.
Logitech C920: a model to investigate, not a confirmed Xbox pick
Twitch lists the Logitech C920 as an example of recommended webcam hardware for broadcasting generally. This establishes it as a camera worth checking, but not as an Xbox-certified or universally compatible model. Before buying, verify the exact C920 revision and your console/setup with the seller or manufacturer, and check whether it can be used without computer software or controls that are unavailable on Xbox.

How to compare candidates
- Exact compatibility: Confirm the camera model and revision for your Xbox generation and streaming method. Do not rely on “USB webcam” alone.
- Console-only setup: Check whether the camera requires drivers, desktop software, or configuration steps that you cannot perform on the console.
- Image and framing: Consider whether the camera can show your face clearly in your intended position and lighting. The cited sources do not provide comparable Xbox-specific image tests or model scores.
How to add a webcam to an Xbox Twitch stream
Xbox Wire published the following native Twitch streaming route on February 23, 2022. Console menus can change, so labels may differ in newer software.
- Open the Xbox Guide, go to Capture and Share, and select Live streaming.
- Link your Twitch account if prompted.
- Connect your headset and webcam as part of the streaming setup. If the camera is not recognized, consult Xbox Support and the camera maker rather than assuming all USB cameras are supported.
- Set the stream options available on your console, including game and microphone audio levels, whether to include party chat, and stream resolution and bitrate.
- Start the broadcast and check the Twitch stream to confirm that the webcam image and audio are present and framed as intended.
Twitch says its Xbox app is for viewing; broadcasting is handled through Xbox’s native streaming feature or a cloud broadcast service. For Xbox broadcast problems, Twitch directs users to Microsoft’s Xbox Support.

When a cloud studio may help
If you want overlays, alerts, scenes, or other media beyond a webcam, Twitch’s Xbox Creator Camp names Lightstream and Streamlabs Console as cloud-based studio options. Twitch says either requires a paid subscription. This is a separate production choice from selecting a compatible camera; the cited guidance does not establish current plan details or guarantee compatibility for every setup.
