Upgrade the weapon you rely on most first. Improve its gun parts before spreading resources across several weapons; once a part reaches level 6, blueprints can unlock that part’s module feature. Which weapon deserves those resources depends on the role you need it to fill—not on a verified universal tier list.
How to choose your first weapon upgrade
Zombie Frontier 4’s official App Store description presents several weapon roles, but it does not rank weapons by damage, cost, or overall strength. Use the weapon you already depend on, then choose upgrades around the encounters that give you trouble. The descriptions below are the developer’s broad role descriptions, not results from a comparative test.
- Need to target vulnerable areas? The listing describes pistols as useful for targeting vulnerable areas.
- Need sustained fire? Automatic rifles are described as suppressing enemies with bullets.
- Enemies reaching close range? The listing positions shotguns for threats that get close.
- Prefer a tactical, longer-range approach? Sniper rifles and heavy artillery are listed as options for particular tactics; the listing does not specify which is stronger or for what exact encounters.
The game lists pistols, automatic rifles, shotguns, grenades, sniper rifles, and heavy artillery. These categories suggest different uses, not a definitive early-game winner. Keep investing in the weapon that fits your play style and current obstacle rather than upgrading every category at once.
Upgrade gun parts before pursuing modules
The official help center describes a specific module progression: upgrade the relevant gun part to level 6, then use blueprints to unlock that part’s module feature. Afterward, you can select and equip modules to upgrade guns. Modules are listed as obtainable through Defense Stages or Preparation Chests.

- Upgrade a relevant gun part to level 6. The help page states this is the gate for unlocking that part’s module feature.
- Use blueprints to unlock the feature for that part. The documented progression applies to the required part; it does not say that one unlock automatically applies to every part.
- Select and equip modules. The help page identifies Defense Stages and Preparation Chests as module sources.
The help-center page is official, but its last-updated age is old. If the current game interface differs, follow the in-game instructions rather than assuming every detail of the older page remains unchanged.
When armor and consumables should enter the plan
The App Store listing identifies armor suits, first-aid kits, and adrenaline as systems that contribute to survival, alongside weapon upgrades and modifications. It does not compare their costs or establish that one should always come before a weapon upgrade. Treat them as situational options: consider the survival tools available to you when staying alive is the immediate problem, but the available official descriptions do not support a universal spending order.

What is—and is not—known about the best upgrade order
No official source here names the best early-game weapon, strongest armor, exact optimal upgrade sequence, or comparative upgrade costs. The listing’s role descriptions are not evidence that a weapon deals more damage, uses ammunition more efficiently, or performs better against bosses or in a particular chapter. Choose by the role you need and follow the documented part-to-level-6-to-blueprint module path; a precise ranking would require reliable comparative testing that these sources do not provide.
Apple’s version history records Weapon Frame as added in version 1.7.7 on November 21, 2023. That confirms a feature-history point, not a current weapon balance ranking.
