If VR makes you motion sick, start with games that keep the camera still or let you control movement with your body. When choosing a game, look for teleport movement and snap turning, then check its own comfort settings. No game or setting can guarantee that you will avoid symptoms.
How to choose a VR game when you’re motion-sensitive
Motion discomfort can depend on how a game moves the view, not simply on its genre or popularity. A stationary experience avoids continuous camera travel; physical movement lets you move around in real space; teleport locomotion jumps between positions rather than showing continuous travel. Smooth thumbstick movement and smooth turning move the view continuously and can be uncomfortable for some players.
Meta Horizon OS developer guidance calls teleport “the comfort option” because it minimizes motion sickness, while noting that it may cause disorientation. Meta also describes snap turning as a comfort-oriented alternative to smooth turning. These are design options, not guarantees that a particular person will feel well: Meta’s comfort guidance.

Check movement, turning, and comfort aids
- Look for stationary play, physical movement, or teleport locomotion before choosing a game.
- Prefer snap turning over smooth turning if turning the camera is uncomfortable.
- Check for optional vignettes or blink transitions, which can reduce some visual motion cues but may not stop symptoms.
- Check whether the game can be played seated or without frequent camera movement, and whether its comfort options are configurable.
- Read the listing and the in-game settings for the exact platform you plan to use. Options are app-specific; a headset-level preference does not automatically change every game.
A verified comfort-first pick: Walkabout Mini Golf
Walkabout Mini Golf’s Meta Store listing says it supports both teleport and smooth locomotion. For a motion-sensitive player, teleport is the sensible first setting to try; the availability of smooth locomotion does not mean you need to use it.

Choose a gradual way to try VR
- Start with a stationary or physically controlled experience. Pick play that does not continuously move the camera, or lets you move your body rather than travel smoothly through a virtual space.
- Try teleport locomotion and snap turning. Set these in the game itself where available. Teleport can reduce continuous visual travel, though its sudden viewpoint changes may feel disorienting.
- Use optional comfort aids if the game offers them. Test features such as vignettes or blink transitions; they reduce some visual cues but are not a promise of symptom relief.
- Only test smooth movement if you want to. Change one setting at a time so you can tell which movement style feels comfortable to you.
- Stop if symptoms begin. Resume only when you feel comfortable; do not assume that pushing through discomfort is necessary or will reliably make it go away.
Check headset compatibility and warnings
Confirm the exact headset and platform before purchasing. The Walkabout Mini Golf Meta listing names Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro. The PlayStation Store listing for the PS5 version says PlayStation VR2 is required and warns that VR games may cause some players to experience motion sickness. A compatible headset enables play; it is not a remedy for motion sickness.

Why this isn’t a ranked list of “nausea-free” games
There is no established, comparable symptom data here that supports ranking specific games by how likely they are to cause motion sickness. Game settings and individual responses differ, so a title that feels comfortable to one person may not feel comfortable to another.
