If you want a tactical shooter in the same broad orbit as Ghost Recon, choose by the kind of play you want: Ready or Not for SWAT-style close-quarters missions, Sniper Elite 5 for stealth and a campaign you can play solo or with a partner, Arma Reforger for military simulation and player-made scenarios, or Gray Zone Warfare for persistent-world PvE and extraction-style operations. None is a direct replacement for Ghost Recon’s mix of contemporary squad action and open-world campaigning.

Ready or Not: for close-quarters squad procedure
Choose Ready or Not if the part of Ghost Recon you want most is coordinated team tactics, but you would rather clear buildings than roam a military open world. Its missions center on leading a SWAT team, breaching rooms, following rules of engagement, and dealing with mission consequences. That makes its rhythm more deliberate and confined than Ghost Recon’s broader campaign structure. PlayStation’s official product page calls it “a true tactical shooter”; that is the page’s product copy, not an independent assessment.

The US PlayStation listing for the PS5 version specifies one-player support and optional online play for up to five players. Online play on PS5 requires PlayStation Plus. Those are platform-specific listing details, so check the relevant store page for other platforms and regions.
Sniper Elite 5: for solo stealth or a partner campaign
Sniper Elite 5 is the clearest choice here if you want a full campaign that works alone but can also be played cooperatively. PlayStation describes it as a third-person tactical shooter set in France in 1944. In campaign co-op, two players can share ammunition and items, give one another orders, and provide healing. Its emphasis is stealth, scouting, and deliberate ranged combat—not commanding a modern squad across an open world.

There is also a separate Survival co-op mode for up to four players: the PlayStation game page describes this as up to three other players joining you. That mode is distinct from the two-player campaign.
Arma Reforger: for simulation, multiplayer, and custom scenarios
Pick Arma Reforger if your priority is a military sandbox rather than a conventional story campaign. Bohemia Interactive lists it for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Its official site presents Conflict as a player-versus-player mode and Game Master as a tool for creating scenarios; it also highlights extensive modding through Workbench.

This flexibility is the appeal, but it is not the same promise as a solo Ghost Recon-style campaign. The official pages reviewed describe multiplayer and scenario creation, not a specific solo-campaign recommendation. Bohemia describes Reforger as a standalone milestone on the road to Arma 4.
Gray Zone Warfare: for a persistent extraction world
Gray Zone Warfare is the closest option here to an open-world setting, but its structure is different from a self-contained Ghost Recon campaign. MADFINGER Games describes it as a tactical sandbox extraction FPS set in a persistent open world. Its official about page outlines PvE and PvEvP operations, AI enemies, rival factions, injury management, and extensive weapon customization. The publisher lists a 42 km² open world.

- TENSE ADVERSIAL MULTIPLAYER: Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.
Treat its current feature set as subject to change. On October 3, 2026, the game’s official home page said update 0.5 would mark its transition from pre-alpha to alpha, with a teaser indicating a fall 2026 timeframe. Check the current official page and store listing for its development status, platform availability, and mode options before buying; the available information does not establish it as a conventional solo campaign.

- Pick Ready or Not for mission-based room clearing and co-op squad coordination.
- Pick Sniper Elite 5 for a solo-capable stealth campaign with the option to bring one partner.
- Pick Arma Reforger for multiplayer military simulation, community scenarios, and modding; do not choose it on the assumption that it offers a documented solo campaign.
- Pick Gray Zone Warfare for a developing persistent-world extraction experience, after checking its current state and modes.
These games also differ in platforms and online requirements. For example, the cited PS5 listing gives Ready or Not’s player support and subscription requirement, while the other games’ cited pages describe different modes or platform sets. Because availability, edition details, and online services can vary by platform and region, verify the store listing for the version you intend to play.
