There is no documented, proven “best” screenshot API for Indian news websites in regional languages. Provider documentation shows useful controls, but not comparative accuracy on Indian publishers or scripts. Start with ScreenshotNeo if you want a general-purpose API with clean captures and clear billing outcomes; then test it alongside ScreenshotOne, Browserless, and Urlbox on the exact publishers, languages, and pages your application needs.
Which screenshot APIs are worth testing?
These services document controls relevant to capturing news pages, but those controls do not establish that a provider renders a particular regional script correctly. The recommendation below is a shortlist for evaluation, not a ranking of tested rendering quality.
| Provider | Relevant documented capabilities | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo | One-call website captures as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; accepts cookie and consent banners and removes known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Provides viewport, full-page, selector, wait, and other capture options, plus an MCP server for AI agents. | Comparative accuracy on Indian publishers or regional scripts has not been established here. Test target pages and fonts yourself. |
| ScreenshotOne | Documents Accept-Language, browser language and locale, time zone, India as an IP-country option, custom proxy options, image formats, and full-page tuning. Language and location documentation; full-page options. |
Its documentation does not establish accurate rendering on specific publishers or scripts, or comparative latency and reliability. |
| Browserless | Documents a REST /screenshot endpoint, full-page capture, PNG/JPEG/WebP, viewport and device scale, selector capture, and scrolling to trigger lazy-loaded content. Screenshot endpoint documentation. |
The cited guide does not establish regional-language fidelity, India-specific routing, or comparative performance. |
| Urlbox | Documents URL and HTML conversion to screenshots, PDFs, videos, and extraction outputs, with viewport, formats, delays, and selector options. Render options documentation. | Its documentation does not establish Indian-site rendering quality or comparative service outcomes. |
ScreenshotOne describes an India IP-country option using data-center proxy routing; that is not evidence of residential-proxy behavior. Location and language are separate controls: a language header requests a variant, but the website decides what to serve.

Run the same representative URLs through each provider. Include each publisher and regional script your product needs, and keep capture conditions as consistent as possible. Documentation confirms the availability of some controls, not the outcome of this comparison; results must come from your own pages.
#1 Best Overall
- Define the target. Select real articles and section pages from your intended publishers. Include pages with long content, images, overlays, and lazy-loaded modules.
- Hold settings constant. Use the same URL, viewport, output format, language header, location, and wait behavior where providers expose equivalent controls. Record differences when a control is unavailable.
- Confirm the page variant. Check whether the requested language was actually served; sending a language preference does not force a site to provide that version.
- Inspect script rendering. Check conjuncts, vowel signs, and other glyph combinations for clipping, missing marks, incorrect shaping, or fallback-font problems.
- Check page completeness. Inspect headlines, images, ads, cookie notices, chat widgets, and lazy-loaded sections. Decide which overlays should remain for your use case.
- Repeat captures. Record whether output remains consistent, as well as completion, latency, and errors over repeated runs. A single successful image does not establish repeatability.
Which settings matter most?
Language is not location
Use a language preference such as Accept-Language when a publisher offers language variants, and use country routing when the site varies by visitor geography. These settings answer different questions: what language to request and where the visit appears to originate. ScreenshotOne documents both language/locale controls and India as an IP-country option; its cited documentation describes data-center proxy routing.
Long and dynamic pages need explicit handling
Full-page capture alone may not load content that appears only after scrolling. Browserless documents scrolling to trigger lazy-loaded content. ScreenshotOne documents full-page tuning and notes that rendering-quality changes can affect performance. Compare captures at the same page state and wait conditions rather than assuming a longer screenshot means a more complete one.

Match the output to the job
For visual review or image processing, select a supported raster format and consistent viewport and device scale. For documents intended to span pages, check PDF output and pagination separately. Selector capture can isolate a headline or article body, but verify that the selected element includes the content and styling your use case requires.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first when you want a one-request capture without operating a browser yourself. Its API can return an image or PDF, with options for full-page or selector captures, waits, viewport, headers, cookies, and other settings. For language variants, pass the appropriate request headers and validate the publisher’s actual response; no API setting guarantees correct regional-script shaping.
Example cURL request for a target page (replace the URL and API key):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for free.
Common evaluation mistakes
- Treating a language header as a guarantee: it is a request to the site, not proof that the requested language variant was served.
- Equating India routing with an Indian residential connection: the cited ScreenshotOne documentation describes data-center proxy routing.
- Assuming feature lists prove script quality: confirm shaping and glyph display in captures from the publishers you actually use.
- Comparing unlike capture conditions: different viewports, waits, or location settings can make provider results misleading.
- Judging dynamic pages from one run: repeat captures and record loading, completeness, and errors to identify inconsistent output.
How to choose
Shortlist by the controls your workflow requires, then decide from repeatable tests on your target pages. Prefer an API that can request the needed language and location, capture long or lazy-loaded pages, isolate the required content, and produce your output format. Keep rendering fidelity, latency, reliability, and failure handling as measured results—not assumptions based on documentation.
