The most useful premium printer accessories are the ones that solve a specific bottleneck: an added feeder or tray cuts paper reloading, a model-matched feed kit addresses paper-pickup wear, and a manufacturer-listed surge device may suit a particular printer installation. There is no universal “power printer” accessory category, so start with your exact printer model and verify the accessory part number before buying.
Which printer accessories are worth buying?
For a business or high-volume printer, an accessory is worth considering when it improves a recurring task rather than merely adding a feature you will not use. Match the purchase to the problem:
- Frequent paper reloads: Check for a compatible optional paper feeder or larger tray.
- Several paper types in regular use: A supported additional tray can let you keep more than one media type loaded.
- Paper-feed problems: Look for the manufacturer’s replacement roller or maintenance kit for your exact model.
- Electrical protection: Follow the printer manufacturer’s model-specific guidance; a listing for one model does not establish what is suitable for another.
These are different product categories, not interchangeable “premium” upgrades. A feeder changes capacity or media handling; a feed kit is a replacement part with a stated compatible-model list; a surge device is an electrical accessory whose compatibility may be narrowly specified.

The capacity figures on that page apply to specific configurations, not every HP printer or feeder. One described feeder configuration adds up to 1,500 sheets; a listed tray-and-stand configuration is described with 1,650 sheets total capacity. Confirm what the figure represents, which trays are included, and which paper sizes or media the accessory supports for your printer before relying on it.
Older models need an additional availability check. HP’s support material for the LaserJet P4010/P4510 series describes optional 500-sheet and 1,500-sheet tray or feeder units, but warns that accessory ordering details were current when printed and could change during the printer’s life: HP LaserJet P4010/P4510 accessory information. A documented accessory is not necessarily still orderable in your region.

Feed and maintenance kits: buy for a named model and symptom
A replacement feed kit is upkeep for a particular printer, not a general-purpose performance upgrade. For example, Brother lists its genuine PFM5000 multipurpose-tray paper-feeding replacement kit for these models: HL-L8430CDW, HL-L8430CDWT, HL-L8570CDW, MFC-L8730CDW, MFC-L8930CDW, MFC-L8970CDW, and MFC-EX575. Brother states a yield of up to 50,000 pages using a five-pages-per-job basis and notes that media type, size, and other factors can affect yield. Treat that as the product’s stated yield under its stated basis, not a guaranteed lifespan for every workload: Brother PFM5000 product page.
For the HP LaserJet P4010/P4510 series, HP describes a preventive maintenance kit that includes a replacement fuser, transfer roller, transfer-roller tool, Tray 1 roller, eight feed rollers, and disposable gloves. HP identifies the kit as a consumable and says its cost is not covered under the warranty or most extended-warranty options. That is a series-specific example; check your printer’s documentation for the correct kit, service interval, and whether the work is appropriate for you to perform: HP LaserJet P4010/P4510 support material.

Xerox likewise groups trays, sheet feeders, and maintenance kits with particular model families in its official store. Use its model-family listings and current availability information to identify the right part, rather than assuming accessories are shared across printers: Xerox official store.
Power protection: check the printer’s own specifications
Do not infer that every printer needs a UPS or that a generic surge protector is approved for every installation. The documented example here is specific: Lexmark lists a “Surge Protective Device, 110-120V,” part number SPD0001, among the materials for the X925de. That listing supports considering a manufacturer-associated option for that model; it does not establish compatibility with other printers or a general UPS requirement. How to choose the right accessory
- Find the full printer model. Read the model label or the printer’s information screen; a broad series name may not distinguish compatible variants.
- Search the manufacturer’s support or store page for that exact model. Confirm the accessory’s part number and the manufacturer’s compatible-model list.
- Check the practical benefit. For feeders, verify added capacity, included trays, supported paper sizes, and media types. For replacement kits, confirm the affected feed path and the manufacturer’s yield or maintenance guidance.
- Check setup and service requirements. Determine whether installation is user-replaceable or should be handled by an authorized service provider, and whether the part is a consumable with separate costs.
- Verify current availability in your region. Listings and stock change, especially for older printers; an old support page can document an accessory without proving it is currently orderable.
If shopping through a marketplace, use a query such as “printer paper feeder tray” only after you have the model and part number. Compare the listing against the manufacturer’s compatibility details; similar-looking trays or kits are not evidence of a fit.
