The best phone for long battery life is not necessarily the one with the biggest mAh figure. Compare endurance tests that use the same method, then check capacity, charging recovery, size, local compatibility and price. Capacity helps narrow the field; it cannot tell you exactly how long a phone will last in your hands.
How to compare battery life fairly
Start with measured runtime, but compare results only when the phones were tested under the same protocol. A continuous web-browsing test over 5G at a fixed screen brightness can help rank devices within that test. It is not a promise of a particular number of hours for your own mix of video, navigation, calls, gaming, signal conditions and standby time.
For example, Tom’s Guide reported these results from continuous web surfing over 5G at 150 nits: 16 hours 10 minutes for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, 17 hours 54 minutes for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, and 25 hours 13 minutes for the OnePlus 15. Those figures describe that publication’s test, not typical daily runtime. The same article notes that the Galaxy S25 Ultra was retested using a newer version of the test after months of use, a reminder that even one publication’s results can reflect different test conditions over time.
Other battery tests are useful on their own terms, not as direct conversions. Digit’s June 16, 2026 India-focused roundup reports 30 hours 32 minutes for the Realme P4 Power in its PCMark Battery Life test. Digit’s result should not be ranked directly against Tom’s Guide’s 5G browsing hours. GSMArena’s May 3, 2026 buyer guide selected recent phones with an Active Use Score of at least 17 hours; that is the guide’s editorial threshold, not an industry standard. PhoneArena also maintains a battery-test results database; check the device dates and methodology before comparing entries.

What a large mAh number tells you—and what it does not
Milliamp-hours (mAh) measure battery capacity, so the figure is a useful first filter when looking for a very large battery. It does not account for how efficiently a phone uses that energy. Screen technology and brightness, processor workload, software, mobile signal and the apps you use all affect the time between charges. Samsung cautions that actual life varies with network environment, features and apps, calling and messaging frequency, charge history and other factors in its Galaxy S26 series announcement.
Check whether a maker labels capacity as typical, rated or both. Samsung says its typical capacity is an estimated average across samples tested under IEC 61960, and separately publishes rated minimum figures. For the Galaxy S26 and S26+, Samsung lists typical capacities of 4,300 mAh and 4,900 mAh, respectively, and rated minima of 4,175 mAh and 4,755 mAh. These are different ways of stating capacity, not competing estimates of everyday runtime.
The Realme P4 Power illustrates the scale a high-capacity model can reach: Digit’s June 16, 2026 roundup reports 10,001 mAh typical capacity and 9,750 mAh rated capacity, calling it the largest pack in a smartphone at the time of publication. Treat that description as a time- and market-bounded claim, not a permanent global record. The phone’s reported 30-hour-32-minute PCMark result belongs to Digit’s test and should not be compared hour-for-hour with results from another test system.

These examples show two different ways to evaluate candidates: same-protocol endurance tests for relative runtime, and capacity figures for screening. They do not establish a universal winner across unlike tests, different regions or individual use patterns.

A phone that lasts longer between charges is not automatically more convenient if it takes too long to recharge when you have a short break. Compare wired charging speed and, where the maker provides it, a tested recharge time with its conditions. Also consider whether wireless charging or reverse charging matters for your routine.
Accessory details can change the real cost and convenience. Samsung says the adapters for the Galaxy S26 charging setup described in its announcement are sold separately. Its charging-percentage claims depend on particular adapters and laboratory conditions, so check the exact adapter requirement and included accessories for the local model rather than assuming a charger comes in the box.

For a concrete alternative, Digit reports that the Realme P4 Power supports 80 W wired charging and 27 W reverse wired charging. Those specifications come from Digit’s India-context roundup; verify them against the exact version sold where you live.
Balance battery size against the rest of the phone
Very large batteries can be attractive, but the number is only one part of a purchase. A model that suits your daily use should also fit your preferences for screen size, camera, performance, software support and physical comfort. Check the exact local version’s dimensions and weight, warranty and update policy, price, network bands and carrier compatibility. These details can vary by market, and the cited comparisons do not establish them uniformly across all the models or countries covered.
