For a Hindi radio livestream with a static or simple visual, start in OBS with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 6,000 Kbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC at 128 Kbps / 44.1 kHz. That is a practical starting profile for a mostly static radio visual, not a Hindi-specific YouTube requirement. YouTube lists 6 Mbps as its recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p30 and 3 Mbps as the minimum. YouTube’s encoder settings are the authority for its current ingest recommendations.

YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 as ingestion codecs, but what you can select depends on your software and encoder hardware. Its bitrate recommendations change with codec, resolution, and frame rate, so do not carry the 720p30 H.264 number over to a different profile. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Set up OBS for the stream
1. Set the video size and frame rate
- In OBS, open Settings > Video.
- Set Output (Scaled) Resolution to 1280×720 and Common FPS Values to 30.
- Choose a canvas resolution that suits your visual sources. If you need to scale the canvas to the output, choose a downscale filter appropriate to your system and check that text and artwork remain legible in the preview.
For an audio-led show with a still image or simple graphic, 30 fps is a reasonable starting point. Consider 60 fps only if the visual contains enough motion to benefit and your encoder and upload connection can sustain the higher-rate profile. YouTube provides separate bitrate guidance for different frame rates.
2. Configure video encoding
- Open Settings > Output and set Output Mode to Advanced if you need to expose the streaming encoder options.
- On the Streaming tab, choose an available H.264 encoder that runs reliably on your computer. The name varies with operating system and hardware.
- Set Rate Control to CBR, Bitrate to 6000 Kbps, and Keyframe Interval to 2 s.
- Use the 6,000 Kbps target only with the 720p30 H.264 profile. YouTube lists 3,000 Kbps as the minimum for that profile; do not treat that minimum as a guarantee that your connection will produce a stable stream.
If OBS does not expose a setting exactly as named here, the available controls depend on the encoder you selected. OBS documents its settings in the OBS Studio settings overview.

3. Match the audio chain
- Open Settings > Audio and set the sample rate to 44.1 kHz.
- Where possible, set the microphone, mixer, interface, and operating-system audio device to the same sample rate. Matching these devices is a practical way to avoid preventable sample-rate mismatches.
- In Settings > Output > Streaming, set audio to AAC, stereo, 128 Kbps if those controls are available.
- Listen to the OBS audio monitoring output before going live. Check voice clarity, music balance, and that no source is unintentionally muted or distorted.
YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 audio, 128 Kbps for stereo, and a 44.1 kHz stereo sample rate. The recommendations are format settings; they do not replace testing the actual microphone, music sources, and mix.
4. Connect OBS to YouTube securely
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain the stream key for that broadcast.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect the account or enter the stream key according to the connection method shown in your version of OBS.
- Use RTMPS if the selected service or server option offers it.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in a screen capture, share it, or paste it into an untrusted tool. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
OBS labels can change between releases, and account connection and manual-key options can differ. YouTube’s current ingestion requirements are listed in its encoder settings guide.

Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain
The 6 Mbps recommendation is YouTube’s H.264 target for 720p30—not a measurement of your home connection. A speed-test peak does not show whether your upload will remain steady throughout a live broadcast. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and testing the stream before starting.
- Run an upload speed test under conditions similar to your planned broadcast, then leave headroom rather than allocating all measured capacity to the video stream.
- If the connection cannot sustain the 6 Mbps target reliably, choose a lower YouTube-supported resolution and bitrate combination, then test it. Do not keep the 720p30 bitrate while changing codec or resolution without checking YouTube’s relevant table.
- For radio, uninterrupted, intelligible audio and a stable picture usually matter more than a higher frame rate when the visual barely moves. This is a practical production choice, not a separate YouTube rule.
- If dropped frames or stream-health warnings appear, reduce the video load or resolve the network or encoder issue, then repeat the test before the scheduled broadcast.
Test the full Hindi radio program before broadcasting
- Create an unlisted test stream or schedule a test in YouTube Studio.
- Use the same OBS scene, microphone, music sources, and visual planned for the real broadcast. Test representative Hindi speech and the actual music or other audio material, not just a silent title card.
- Start OBS and inspect the YouTube Live Control Room preview. Confirm that the image is correct, audio is present, and speech and music are balanced.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators and watch for dropped frames, interrupted audio, or encoder overload.
- Monitor audio and video quality throughout the stream, not only before it begins. YouTube advises creators to test before starting and continuously monitor stream quality; see its live streaming tips.
Meet YouTube’s live-streaming and music-rights requirements
Check channel eligibility first
YouTube’s current start guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days; it also specifies a minimum age of 16 to live stream. Confirm eligibility before spending time preparing a broadcast in OBS. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming start guide.

Get rights for every track and other third-party material
OBS settings do not grant permission to broadcast music. YouTube’s livestream terms say providers must hold the necessary rights for use on Google services, including music licensing rights and applicable territory requirements. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a detected match may replace the stream with a placeholder, and if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A licensed track can still trigger an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and confirm allowlisting with the rights holder when applicable.
YouTube describes public-domain material and music used with rights-holder permission as safe options. A track labelled “free” is not necessarily cleared for a YouTube live broadcast. You can consider the YouTube Audio Library, original music, Creator Music where available, or a third-party catalog—but check the specific license for live-stream use. Creator Music restrictions can exclude livestreams, so permission for an ordinary uploaded video does not automatically cover a radio broadcast. See YouTube’s guidance on safe music.

Common problems and practical fixes
