For an audio-led YouTube radio stream with a still or slow-moving visual, start with 1280×720 at 30 fps, H.264 video at 3,000 kbps using CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo audio at 128 kbps. YouTube’s live-encoder guidance recommends those core settings for 720p30 H.264 streaming. They are a test profile, not a guarantee that every Airtel connection can sustain a 24/7 broadcast: measure stable upload speed, keep about 20% in reserve, and test the stream before relying on it.
Recommended OBS settings for a 24/7 music stream
For a low-motion radio visual, begin with the profile below. YouTube’s live encoder recommendations are the platform baseline; choosing 30 fps is a practical editorial choice for an audio-led broadcast that does not need fluid motion.

In OBS, open Settings > Video to set the canvas, output resolution, and frame rate. Then open Settings > Output and select Advanced output mode if needed to expose the streaming encoder controls. Under the Streaming tab, choose an H.264 encoder, set rate control to CBR, enter the video bitrate and keyframe interval, and select RTMPS if the service and encoder offer it. OBS labels and available encoder names can vary by operating system, hardware, and version. Use a hardware H.264 encoder if it is available and stable on your system; otherwise use software encoding with a preset that leaves adequate CPU headroom. YouTube specifies the codec and rate-control guidance, not a particular OBS encoder implementation or preset.

Open Settings > Audio to check the sample rate and stereo channel configuration, then set the stream audio bitrate under Settings > Output > Audio. Verify that the intended music source reaches the OBS audio meter without clipping or silence before going live.

Calculate the upload speed your stream needs
The advertised download speed on an Airtel plan is not the right figure for choosing a live bitrate. The stream consumes upload bandwidth continuously, and YouTube notes that download speed is often higher than upload speed. YouTube recommends leaving roughly 20% upload headroom rather than using the connection at its limit.
At the starting profile, video at 3,000 kbps plus audio at 128 kbps is 3,128 kbps of encoded media. Allowing 20% headroom means a connection should have roughly 3.9 Mbps of stable upload capacity for this stream, before extra household traffic, protocol overhead, or another concurrent stream. Treat that as a floor for testing, not a promise of uninterrupted service. If measured upload varies, reduce the video bitrate first, then test a lower output resolution if necessary.

- Measure upload repeatedly. Run speed tests at different times using the same wired or Wi-Fi connection and setup you intend to stream from. Pay attention to upload results, not just download.
- Reserve headroom. Keep about 20% of stable upload capacity unused for variation and other network activity. If other people or devices share the connection, allow more room.
- Test the actual show. Make a private or unlisted test with the real audio source and representative visual movement. A static image test may not reveal the encoder load or bandwidth needs of an animated visual.
- Watch YouTube stream health. Monitor it during the test and after going live. If warnings or dropped frames appear, reduce bitrate or resolution and test again rather than assuming the advertised plan speed is sustainable.
Check the Airtel plan, stability, and usage allowance
Airtel’s published broadband plans vary by tier and geography. Its plan page advertises examples from 40 Mbps up to 1 Gbps, but those advertised maximums are not a measured upload guarantee for a particular connection. Airtel also says broadband speed is the maximum prescribed speed and may vary due to congestion or technical reasons. Confirm the plan and service terms for the specific account and market; a stable long-duration test is more useful than the plan headline.
Airtel Xstream Fiber’s published terms, current page accessed in 2026, state a Fair Usage Policy threshold of 3333 GB in a billing cycle, after which speed is reduced to 1 Mbps; the terms also state that the FUP may be amended. Check the current account terms and usage meter before relying on those figures. They are not a universal claim about every Airtel broadband product or market.

For scale, video at a constant 3 Mbps uses about 0.97 TB over 30 days, calculated as 3 megabits per second × 2,592,000 seconds ÷ 8 using decimal terabytes. That is arithmetic for the video stream alone, not an Airtel statistic; audio and protocol overhead add to it, as can other household use. A speed reduction under an applicable FUP could make a previously stable profile unsustainable.
Prepare YouTube and OBS for a long-running broadcast
Set up the live stream and protect its key
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live and use the stream setup shown for your channel. Interface labels can change.
- Copy the stream key into OBS using the stream configuration controls. YouTube describes a stream key as the password/address the encoder uses to send its feed. Keep it private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the stream.
- Choose normal latency for a radio format unless real-time interaction is important enough to justify testing a lower-latency mode and its playback trade-offs.
- Run a private or unlisted test and confirm the picture, audio, and YouTube stream-health status before making the broadcast public.
Use music and visuals you have the right to broadcast
A continuous music stream does not avoid copyright obligations. Before scheduling a 24/7 broadcast, make sure you have the necessary rights or licenses for every track and visual element, including permission for online streaming and any relevant territories. A track being available to listen to, or appearing in another creator’s stream, does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it. YouTube may act on copyrighted material, and a stream interruption can follow a claim or other platform action. Review the rights attached to your own content and YouTube’s current policies; no OBS setting can make unlicensed music safe to stream.

Also consider whether a channel built from continuously repeated or minimally changed material is eligible for the features you want under YouTube’s current monetization and reused-content policies. Streaming mechanics and channel-policy eligibility are separate questions; a technically healthy stream is not a guarantee of monetization or policy approval.
Plan for continuity beyond OBS settings
A 24/7 stream depends on more than the encoder: the PC, router, Airtel connection, power, source audio, and YouTube ingest all have to remain available. Test the complete setup for an extended period and check stream health rather than treating a brief successful start as proof of long-run reliability. If Wi-Fi instability is suspected, wired Ethernet removes the wireless hop and is a reasonable troubleshooting test; it will not fix a weak line, congestion, power failure, or account-level speed reduction. A UPS may help with short power interruptions, but capacity depends on the actual computer and router draw and the runtime required.

Troubleshoot by symptom
