For a mostly static Hindi sleep-music stream, start with OBS at 1080p, 30 fps, H.264, CBR at 10 Mbps, a 2-second keyframe interval, and AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. If your upload connection cannot reliably sustain that bitrate, use 720p30 at 6 Mbps instead. These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not a guarantee of uninterrupted broadcasting or a particular viewer-side quality.
Recommended OBS settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 and lists the following bitrate values. For a sleep-music scene with little visual movement, 30 fps is a sensible starting point; the choice of 30 rather than 60 fps is a content-based recommendation, not a tested performance result.

Bitrate figures are YouTube Help recommendations for H.264 ingest, current guidance accessed in 2026. Choose the profile your connection can sustain consistently, not the highest speed it reaches briefly. YouTube transcodes live streams into formats for different devices and network conditions, so the encoder settings do not guarantee a specific rendition for every viewer. Set up a looping video or playlist in OBS
Loop one recording
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene containing your sleep-music visual.
- Select the local video or audio file you want to play. OBS documents MP4 and MP3 among supported formats.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties so playback restarts when the file ends.
- Play through a full cycle before going live. Check that the transition is clean, sound continues after the restart, and there is no unwanted silence or clipping.
Loop multiple recordings
- Add a VLC Video source and build its playlist from the files you have rights to use.
- Install VLC; OBS documentation says this source type requires VLC.
- Check that Loop Playlist is enabled. OBS documents it as enabled by default, but verify the setting.
- Listen through transitions and confirm the playlist resumes as expected. The OBS documentation describes the loop control, but does not establish unattended crash recovery or restart behavior.

Connect OBS to YouTube and go live
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the stream and open its stream settings. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains stream configuration, including the stream key.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start OBS streaming and wait for the Live Control Room preview to receive the feed. Inspect the picture and listen to the audio before starting the public broadcast.
- During the broadcast, monitor stream health and review YouTube’s messages. YouTube advises testing before going live and monitoring audio and video during the event; see its live streaming tips.
Check music rights and replay expectations
Confirm permission for every recording
These settings do not grant permission to broadcast music. Confirm with the rights holder that each recording and its underlying composition may be used in a 24/7 YouTube livestream. Owning a copy or giving attribution alone does not establish streaming rights. The available sources do not determine the rights status of any particular Hindi recording; consult the rights holder and current YouTube policy before broadcasting.
Do not promise a complete replay archive
YouTube’s DVR feature lets viewers pause and resume a live stream, but the available guidance does not establish that a 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete replay archive or how long any archive will remain available. Avoid promising viewers they can replay the full broadcast. See Manage live stream settings.

Keep OBS running reliably
A looping source only repeats media while OBS and the computer continue running. The documented settings do not establish automatic recovery if OBS, the operating system, the computer, or the internet connection fails. Plan to monitor the stream and have a recovery procedure. Test with representative sound and motion before relying on a long broadcast; a successful test does not prove unattended recovery or full archive retention.

Common problems and fixes
- Stream health warns of instability: the upload connection may not sustain the selected bitrate. Switch from 1080p30 at 10 Mbps to 720p30 at 6 Mbps, or test another reliable connection. These are YouTube’s recommended H.264 values, not universal thresholds.
- YouTube receives no signal: check that OBS has the correct server and current stream key, then confirm OBS is actively streaming and the Live Control Room preview receives video.
- The audio stops or has gaps after a repeat: play the file through a complete cycle in OBS and inspect the loop point and playlist order before going live.
- The VLC playlist source is unavailable: install VLC, which OBS requires for that source type, then reopen or recreate the source.
- The broadcast stops when the computer is off or OBS closes: local OBS playback depends on the computer and application remaining available. Use a recovery plan or a cloud-hosted approach if you cannot keep the local setup running.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does OBS have to stay open for the stream to continue?
Yes. A local OBS stream relies on OBS and the computer continuing to run; the Media Source loop setting does not provide unattended crash recovery.
Can I use a Hindi song just by crediting its singer?
No permission is established by attribution alone. Confirm that you have the rights to use the recording and composition in a 24/7 YouTube livestream.
