There is no universally proven “best” no-logs VPN. The strongest current evidence in the sources reviewed is time-bounded: Securitum’s August 18–20, 2025 inspection of Proton VPN’s production systems, DuckDuckGo’s summary of a Securitum review conducted from October 2025 through January 2026, and reporting on NordVPN’s Deloitte review from November 10 to December 12, 2025. These assessments support specific conclusions about the systems examined—not a permanent guarantee or anonymity.
What “no logs” actually means
A VPN carries your internet connection, so its operator is technically capable of recording activity or connection metadata. Proton describes the relationship plainly: “When you connect to a VPN, it effectively becomes your internet provider, meaning any VPN provider is technically capable of tracking and logging what you do online” (Proton’s audit explainer).
“No logs” is therefore a provider claim that needs evidence. A policy page explains what a company says it does; an independent assessment can test whether the examined infrastructure and procedures match that policy. Neither eliminates every possible record held elsewhere, such as account, payment, support or website data.

Check the date and whether reviews repeat
Each audit describes a particular period and configuration. Repeated assessments create a continuing record, but they do not certify future software, staff or infrastructure changes.

Identify the auditor and report access
Prefer a named independent auditor and a report that readers can inspect. A provider summary is useful but less verifiable than the underlying report. Note when access is restricted to subscribers.
Read the technical scope
The most useful work examines live servers or production infrastructure, system configuration, architecture, operational procedures and administrative controls. Look for explicit treatment of activity logs, DNS queries, session timestamps, source IP addresses, traffic inspection and connection metadata.
Record limitations
An audit should say which systems and regions were in scope and what was observed at the time. A clean result does not prove that every future deployment will remain identical.

Separate privacy evidence from product performance
Platform support, speed, streaming access, price, device limits and jurisdiction are separate buying questions. The evidence summarized here does not include hands-on performance testing or current price verification, so those factors require current, independent sources before publication or purchase.

Proton VPN: the most inspectable example in this evidence set
Securitum’s report says its on-site engagement ran from August 18 to 20, 2025 and reviewed Proton VPN production systems, procedures and architecture. Its conclusion states: “The technical evidence reviewed showed no instances of user activity logging, connection metadata storage, or network traffic inspection that would contradict the No-Logs policy.” The report also says, “Based on these findings, Securitum attests that the Proton VPN service, as configured at the time of the audit, fully complies with the privacy commitments outlined in its No-Logs policy.” Read the full Securitum report.
Those are the auditor’s findings for the examined configuration, not a promise about every future change. Proton’s audit explainer also links to a 2026 report, but that report’s findings are not assessed here.

DuckDuckGo VPN: recent review, but start with the company’s summary
DuckDuckGo says Securitum examined its VPN and supporting infrastructure between October 2025 and January 2026. Its audit page represents the work as including live analysis and source-code review. The summary says no user activity or user-attributable connection metadata was logged in scope; it also lists no user-attributable DNS metadata, a uniform policy across server regions and controls over configuration changes.
This is a provider-published summary. Use it as a lead, then inspect the full auditor report when available to confirm scope, exclusions and the exact systems tested.
NordVPN: repeated reviews with limited public report access
NordVPN’s audit-history page identifies a sixth review by Deloitte in 2025. TechRadar reports that the engagement included interviews, configuration review and live-system inspection from November 10 through December 12, 2025, and covered multiple server types and operational controls. According to that reporting, the full report is available to subscribers through Nord Account. Repetition is useful context, but restricted access makes independent reader verification harder.

What this evidence does—and does not—prove
It can support a narrower retention claim
A well-scoped assessment can provide reasonable evidence that the examined service was not retaining specified activity or connection records contrary to its policy during the review period.
It cannot make you anonymous
A VPN shifts trust to the VPN operator; it does not erase account data, payment records, browser fingerprints, device identifiers, cookies, destination-site logs or other ways a person can be identified. The privacy value is narrower: reducing what the provider retains, when the provider’s claims are supported by credible evidence. Proton’s explainer and the independent comparison of audited VPNs make this distinction explicit.

No directly comparable statistic establishes which provider is “most audited,” and the reviewed material is not a census of every VPN. Do not convert these dated examples into a universal league table.

Choosing a provider for your situation
If inspectable audit evidence is your priority
Start with Proton VPN because the 2025 Securitum report is directly available and describes its technical scope in detail. Treat the result as time-bounded.
If you value a very recent assessment
DuckDuckGo’s page describes a Securitum review extending into January 2026, but verify the underlying report and its exclusions rather than relying only on the summary.
If repeated assessments matter
NordVPN’s provider history and the reported sixth Deloitte review offer a record of recurrence. Weigh that against the fact that the full report may require a Nord Account.

After checking logging evidence, independently verify the current subscription price, supported operating systems, simultaneous-device limits, jurisdiction, speed and streaming behavior. Those values change and are not established by the audit findings above.
