For Marshall Major V, use the personal EQ in the Marshall Bluetooth app and adjust it in small steps: add a little bass for low-end emphasis, or reduce bass if it makes voices harder to hear. For vocals and podcasts, prioritize clear, comfortable speech over extra bass. Marshall does not publish numeric EQ values or dedicated genre presets in the official materials covered here, so these are by-ear starting points—not manufacturer settings or tested curves.
Where to change Major V’s EQ
Marshall’s support FAQ says Major V works without the app, but the Marshall Bluetooth app adds personal EQ adjustment, M-button customization, and software updates. To pair the headphones, hold the control knob until the LED pulses blue, choose MAJOR V in your device’s Bluetooth list, then follow setup in the app. See Marshall’s Major V support FAQ.
For a quicker route to EQ, assign the left-cup M-button to Equaliser in the app. Marshall lists Spotify Tap, equaliser, voice assistant, and do nothing as the available actions; Spotify Tap is the default. See Marshall’s M-button guide.
Starting points for different listening
The suggestions below are practical adjustments to try by ear, not official Marshall presets. Make one small change at a time, then listen to the same passage at a comfortable, consistent volume.
#1 Best Overall
- MARSHALL SIGNATURE SOUND: Experience powerful bass, smooth mids and crisp treble that are expertly balanced.
- 100+ HOURS OF WIRELESS PLAYTIME: Listen to your favourite music for days without needing to charge.
- RUGGED AND FOLDABLE DESIGN: Major V is built to last and to be easily packed away with you wherever you go.
- CUSTOMIZABLE M-BUTTON: Instantly access Spotify Tap or your EQ settings or voice assistant at the press of a finger.
- WIRELESS CHARGING: Experience quick charging without the hassle of wires.
For more bass
- Start from your current EQ and make a modest bass lift.
- If kick drums or bass lines become boomy, or begin to cover vocals, reduce the lift.
For vocals
- If a voice sounds thick or recessed, try reducing excess bass slightly first.
- If the app shows a mid or presence control, try only a small adjustment and listen for harshness. Available labels and controls can vary; check the app’s current interface rather than assuming particular bands.
For podcasts
- Keep the bass restrained and choose the clearest comfortable voice balance.
- Compare a short spoken passage at a safe, consistent volume. Speech intelligibility and comfort matter more than added low end for spoken-word listening.
When a change sounds wrong
If voices or instruments sound unnatural, move back toward your previous or default EQ. Small, reversible changes make it easier to tell what helped.
What Marshall says about the stock sound
Marshall describes Major V’s sound as “Thunderous bass, smooth mids and crisp treble.” That is the manufacturer’s product characterization, not an independent measurement. Marshall also says the headphones use custom-tuned dynamic drivers and have reduced distortion; these are manufacturer claims, not results from comparative listening tests. See Marshall’s Major V product page.

The practical implication is not that every listener or recording needs a corrective EQ change. Your preference, fit, playback level, and the recording itself can all affect whether bass or voices seem prominent. Try the stock sound before making changes.

Marshall confirms personal EQ adjustment in its app, but the official support pages cited here do not specify numeric band frequencies, exact gain values, or separate bass, vocal, or podcast presets. There is therefore no source-backed “best curve” to copy. Use the listening goals above as starting directions, not precise settings.

Marshall’s English Major V manual says the included 3.5 mm lead connects to an analogue audio output. The documentation reviewed does not establish whether EQ applies identically in every wired-use situation, so do not assume an app adjustment carries over to all wired playback.
