The lowest-cost practical starting point is a computer you already own, OBS, and an internet connection with enough reliable upload capacity. Begin at 720p/30 fps for slide-led coaching, test the full setup before leaving it unattended, and keep a local recording if you need a dependable replay. YouTube may not capture a stream that runs for more than 12 hours, so a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast is not a safe archive plan.
What you need—and what you can skip at first
- An existing computer: YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary. Use a machine that can play the lesson and encode the stream continuously without overheating or dropping frames; there is no verified minimum computer specification for every recorded lesson workload.
- OBS: It acts as the encoder between your prerecorded lesson and YouTube. Use OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point, then test the resulting stream settings on your actual computer and connection.
- A stable upload connection: Judge it by measured upload capacity at the place and time you intend to stream, not by download speed alone.
- Audio equipment only if needed: A USB microphone is optional if the stream is only prerecorded lessons. Consider one if you will add live explanations or introductions; choose based on intelligibility in your room, computer compatibility, mute controls, and monitoring rather than assuming a particular model is necessary.
- Backup power only if your outage risk warrants it: A UPS for the computer and router may help with brief local interruptions. The right capacity and runtime depend on your equipment load, so there is no universal model or runtime to recommend here.
There is no substantiated fixed rupee budget for this setup: the cost depends on what equipment, internet service, storage, and power protection you already have. Start with the equipment on hand and buy only to address a problem your tests actually reveal.
Configure the stream for coaching lessons
1. Check that the channel can go live
Verify the channel for live streaming and confirm it has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select a stream and copy the stream key and server URL into OBS’s YouTube encoder settings. Preview the output before starting the broadcast. Treat the stream key as private access information: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to that destination.
2. Start with modest video settings
For lessons dominated by slides or a talking head, try 720p at 30 fps first. YouTube’s current H.264 encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, recommends a 3 Mbps live ingest bitrate for 720p/30 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p/30 fps. These are recommendations, not guaranteed optimal settings for every encoder, lesson, or connection. Move to 1080p only if small text or camera detail benefits and your tests remain stable. A high frame rate is rarely the first upgrade to make for mostly static teaching material.

Use constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends that interval and says not to exceed four seconds. YouTube transcodes incoming streams for viewers, so a high-resolution source is not required simply to offer viewers playback choices.
3. Leave room for network variation
YouTube recommends about 20% more upload bandwidth than the total stream bitrate, with further room if other household traffic or a backup stream will use the connection. As planning arithmetic, a 3 Mbps stream calls for at least 3.6 Mbps of measured upload capacity before that additional traffic; a 5 Mbps stream calls for at least 6 Mbps. Test from the intended location and at the time the stream will run, since available upload capacity can vary. Ethernet is preferable where practical, but test the actual arrangement you plan to use.

4. Decide how the lesson will repeat
Prepare the recorded lesson or sequence of lessons you want to broadcast and verify that it plays through as intended. The available guidance does not establish a particular OBS playlist-loop setup or an unattended-restart configuration, so do not assume that a playlist will repeat or recover correctly without testing it in your installed OBS version. Check transitions, audio levels, and what happens when the final item ends.

- Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard to get initial encoder settings, then apply the resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio, and keyframe choices appropriate to your lesson and measured upload capacity.
- Connect OBS to YouTube: In Live Control Room, create or select the stream, then enter the copied stream key and server URL in OBS. Keep the key private.
- Preview the whole lesson sequence: Check that text is readable, audio is intelligible, playback repeats as intended, and the stream is not dropping frames. Test the actual room, computer, and network rather than relying on a short test from a different setup.
- Check local recording separately: Make a local recording, confirm that its file grows during recording, and play the file before relying on it. Allow enough storage for the intended duration; the space required depends on recording settings and retention needs.
- Test likely interruptions: Check what happens during an internet interruption and during the restart process you plan to use. YouTube recommends testing the stream, monitoring stream health, and verifying local files, but the guidance does not promise recovery from every network or power failure.
- Go live only after the checks pass: Monitor the stream health and verify that the lesson is still playing as expected. For unattended operation, test the complete run and recovery process on the target equipment first.
Plan for YouTube archives and monetization
A 24-hour stream may not produce a 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours may be automatically archived; if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. Therefore, do not depend on one continuous 24/7 event for replay access. If an archive matters, consider planned shorter sessions, verify each resulting archive, and keep a local recording as a separate safeguard.

YouTube Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie’s August 12, 2026 explanation distinguishes qualified watch hours from public long-form videos, including archived livestreams, and streams that are not archived. Check the actual archive and eligible watch-hour information in YouTube Studio rather than assuming a continuous stream will count as a replay or toward a particular metric.
Repeated lessons can affect monetization eligibility
YouTube’s monetization policy covers repetitive or mass-produced material under its “inauthentic content” policy and says such content is ineligible for monetization under that policy. Replaying the same coaching recording continuously may therefore create review risk, but the outcome depends on the channel and content. A live wrapper alone does not establish that existing lessons are monetizable; make the stream substantively useful and original, and check YouTube’s current policy before making a channel-specific decision.

Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health reports instability or frames are dropping | Actual upload capacity, competing network traffic, and whether the bitrate exceeds what the connection sustains | Repeat an upload test at the intended time and place, reduce the stream setting if needed, and retest with the recommended upload headroom. |
| Viewers cannot read slide text | Whether the lesson content benefits from more source detail | Test 1080p/30 fps at the recommended 5 Mbps H.264 ingest bitrate, provided measured upload capacity can support it with headroom. |
| OBS sends no video to the selected YouTube stream | Whether the channel is eligible to go live and whether the stream key and server URL match the selected stream | Recheck the Live Control Room selection and OBS encoder details. Do not share the stream key; replace it if it has been exposed. |
| The lesson stops at the end of a recording or playlist | Whether the repeat behavior was configured and tested in the installed OBS setup | Test the complete sequence before unattended use; the available guidance does not establish a specific loop configuration. |
| A local replay is missing or incomplete | Whether local recording was enabled, the file continued growing, and sufficient storage was available | Verify the local file during a test and play it before relying on it. A local recording is not the same as a YouTube archive. |
| The YouTube archive is missing after a long broadcast | Whether the event exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance | Do not assume an over-12-hour stream was captured; use shorter planned sessions and verify archives when replay availability matters. |
| The stream stops after a power or internet interruption | Whether the actual restart or recovery process was tested | Test the intended manual or automatic recovery on the target equipment. Neither OBS nor the connection is established here as guaranteed to recover from every outage. |
