For a self-managed, low-cost cloud server, AWS Lightsail is a concrete place to start: its Linux/Unix public-IPv4 listing shows a $7 USD/month plan with 1 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 40 GB SSD and 2 TB of transfer. That is a plausible starting point, not a tested guarantee or a proven cheapest option for every country and workload. A simple Hindi meditation loop may be practical to encode at 720p30 or 1080p30, but you should test the chosen server, region and YouTube stream before relying on it.

For a Hindi meditation channel, the key distinction is whether you want to administer an encoder yourself or hand off the continuous playback. A VPS is the encoder host; YouTube remains the platform that delivers the video to viewers. The VPS transfer allowance is not your audience’s viewing bandwidth.
What the Lightsail plan includes—and what it does not prove
Amazon Web Services lists a Linux/Unix Lightsail public-IPv4 plan at $7 USD per month, with 1 GB memory, 2 vCPUs, 40 GB SSD and 2 TB transfer; the listing was accessed in 2026. Treat those as the stated plan specifications, not a guarantee that every encoding workload will run reliably on that size.

Lightsail counts both inbound and outbound transfer against the allowance. Its stated overage charges apply to outbound transfer above the plan allowance. Check the live terms for your region and monitor actual usage. A single outgoing encoder feed is separate from YouTube’s distribution of that feed to viewers, so viewer count does not by itself multiply the VPS’s stream transfer.
The page does not establish that Lightsail is the cheapest server in your location, nor that this plan will sustain your selected resolution and codec without testing. Region, route to YouTube ingest, encoding load, other server traffic and the need for administrative support all affect suitability. DigitalOcean’s official Droplet pricing page is another comparison point, but a current plan price and matching specifications are not established here; check its live page before comparing.
Estimate the stream’s transfer use
Transfer depends on the outgoing bitrate and how continuously the encoder runs. At 4 Mbps, a 30-day uninterrupted feed carries about 1.3 TB of payload: 4 megabits per second multiplied by 2,592,000 seconds, divided by 8, using decimal units. This is a calculation, not a provider bill estimate; protocol overhead, other traffic and restarts can change the total.

YouTube’s H.264 recommendations list 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. These are recommended ingestion bitrates, not measured consumption figures for a particular VPS. A 2 TB allowance may appear ample for one feed, but estimate using the bitrate you actually configure, then leave room for overhead and unrelated traffic.
Configure YouTube Live for a prerecorded loop
- Enable live streaming on the channel. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube. Complete this before scheduling a launch.
- Create or select the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Treat the key as a credential: anyone with it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Choose a resolution and bitrate. For a static or gently animated meditation visual, evaluate 720p30 or 1080p30 before paying for the extra encoding and transfer that a higher bitrate can entail. YouTube’s H.264 table lists 8 Mbps at 720p30 and 14 Mbps at 1080p30; follow its current settings page for other resolutions and codecs.
- Set a compatible encoder output. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS as encoder protocols and recommends RTMPS. It supports H.264, H.265/HEVC or AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio. Use constant bitrate and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Its settings support up to 60 fps.
- Run the encoder on the VPS. OBS is among the software encoders listed by YouTube. A server-side FFmpeg workflow is also possible in principle, but the exact command, build and process supervision have not been validated here; do not treat an untested command as a proven deployment.
- Start the feed and check Stream Health. Test with representative audio and video before announcing the stream. Watch for YouTube alerts, dropped frames and sustained server load, then adjust settings or move to a larger plan if the host cannot maintain the feed.
Make a 24/7 VPS stream recoverable
A single low-cost VPS is not an uptime service with a demonstrated SLA. It can fail, reboot, run out of storage or transfer, or lose its upstream connection. Build a recovery plan before leaving a meditation stream unattended.
- Keep a local copy of the source video and any playlist files so a server failure does not destroy the only copy.
- Use a process supervisor or equivalent restart mechanism so an encoder process can be restarted after a crash or reboot. Test the behavior rather than assuming it works.
- Monitor encoder logs, server load, disk space, transfer use and YouTube stream health. Configure an alert or a regular check for a stalled or disconnected feed.
- Test a restart and reconnection deliberately. Confirm that the encoder can resume sending to the correct YouTube stream and that the stream key is stored securely.
- Use only meditation audio and visuals you own or are licensed to stream. A continuous format does not exempt the channel from copyright rules or YouTube’s monetization policies on reused content.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a single stream left live longer than 12 hours will produce one complete automatic archive. Plan the broadcast and any recordings around that limit.

Common problems and fixes
YouTube does not accept the encoder connection
Confirm that live streaming is enabled, the correct stream is selected, and the server URL and stream key match the current stream. Check whether first-time activation is still pending, which YouTube says can take up to 24 hours. Keep the key private and replace it if it has been exposed.
The stream connects but YouTube reports poor health
Check bitrate, frame rate and keyframe interval against YouTube’s current encoder guidance. Reduce resolution or bitrate if the server’s CPU is saturated or the network cannot sustain the configured output; test again with the actual media. RTMPS and constant bitrate are YouTube’s recommendations.

Check system and encoder logs, then verify your process supervisor starts the encoder and that the VPS has network access, free disk space and the correct credentials. Test recovery while you can monitor the channel rather than waiting for an unattended failure.

The transfer allowance is being consumed faster than expected
Check the actual encoder bitrate and other inbound or outbound VPS traffic. Estimate continuous payload from bitrate and duration, and account for protocol overhead and restarts. Remember that Lightsail counts inbound and outbound transfer toward its allowance, while overage charges apply to outbound use above the allowance under its stated terms.
The stream exceeds 12 hours and there is no single complete archive
YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. If a complete recording matters, arrange separate recording and storage rather than relying on one longer live session to create a complete automatic archive.
