There was no single best JavaScript framework for every project in 2021. For a team seeking a widely used option, React or Vue was a natural place to start; for a more integrated application framework, Angular was another choice. Teams that wanted a fuller web-app framework could consider Next.js with React or Nuxt with Vue. The right fit depended on the work, the team’s skills, and the routing and rendering conventions the project needed.
What the 2021 surveys say—and what they don’t
State of JS 2021 reported separate measures for retention, interest, usage, and awareness; these are different signals, not interchangeable rankings. Its conclusion said React and Vue had been dominant in the survey for six years. That points to sustained familiarity and mindshare among survey respondents, not proof either framework was best for every application. State of JS 2021 front-end results offer the individual measures.
A separate snapshot, the Jamstack Community Survey 2021, called React the most popular and described Next.js as a big deal. Based on its own data, it presented Next or Nuxt as safe choices for a new “kitchen-sink” framework. That is a community survey’s recommendation for a broad-use case, not an objective or universal verdict.
These surveys had different audiences and methods, so their observations should not be combined into one numerical league table. Neither supplies a controlled performance comparison across frameworks, and these historical findings do not establish which option is best in 2026.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How the main choices differ
“JavaScript framework” is often used loosely. React is a UI library commonly paired with a framework such as Next.js; Vue can be paired with Nuxt; Angular is a more integrated application platform. The practical decision is often not just which UI technology to use, but how much of the application’s structure and rendering approach the team wants a framework to provide.
| Option | How to think about it | What the 2021 evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| React | A UI library; consider a framework such as Next.js when the application needs a fuller framework. | State of JS reported React and Vue as long-running survey leaders; Jamstack’s 2021 survey called React the most popular in its community snapshot. |
| Vue | A UI framework that can be paired with Nuxt for a fuller application framework. | State of JS reported React and Vue as long-running survey leaders; Jamstack’s survey named Nuxt alongside Next as a safe kitchen-sink choice based on its data. |
| Angular | A more integrated application platform, which may suit teams seeking more built-in structure. | The supplied 2021 survey findings do not establish a comparative rank or controlled benchmark for Angular. |
| Svelte | An alternative to consider if its approach appeals to the team and project. | State of JS 2021 recorded SvelteKit as a respondent “pick of the year”; that signal does not establish broad adoption or usage leadership. |
Choose by project and team needs
- Match the work. Define the application’s needs before choosing a tool. Consider routing, rendering, and the conventions needed to build and maintain the product.
- Account for team skills. Existing experience can affect how quickly a team can build, troubleshoot, and maintain an application. A survey’s popularity signal is not a substitute for that fit.
- Decide how much structure you want. Compare a UI library, a framework built around it, and a more integrated platform. More built-in conventions can make choices more consistent; a lighter starting point can leave more decisions to the team.
- Consider the ecosystem you can maintain. Choose an option the team can support over the project’s lifetime, including its related framework and tooling where applicable.
There is no controlled benchmark in the cited 2021 surveys that settles these trade-offs. Treat their findings as evidence about what respondents used or favored, not as a technical performance test.

Where Vite fits
Vite is tooling, not a front-end framework, so it does not belong in a framework ranking. State of JS’s 2022 conclusion, reporting the 2021 survey, attributed 30% usage in its first survey year and 98% retention to Vite. Those are survey figures about tooling, not framework market share. State of JS 2022 conclusion provides that context.

React
React’s official documentation says creating an app from scratch can make sense when existing frameworks do not meet the project’s constraints or when the goal is to learn the basics. For rendering-strategy configuration, it directs readers to framework documentation.

Apress/Springer Nature describes JavaScript Frameworks for Modern Web Development: The Essential Frameworks, Libraries, and Tools to Learn Right Now as covering Angular, VueJS, React, and additional libraries.
