The best free route is OBS Studio running on a computer you already own. OBS costs nothing, but your computer, OBS, power and internet connection must remain available for the stream to continue. If you want the stream to keep going while your computer is off, a cloud service can do that, but the providers reviewed here do not establish a permanent free 24/7 plan.
Which option is best for a free 24/7 relaxation stream?
Choose OBS if you have a suitable computer and can leave it running. It is the lowest-cash-cost option because the software is free; it is not a hosted service, and it depends on your equipment and connection. OBS describes itself as free and open-source, with no watermark or commercial-use limit, and explains that it sends the stream directly from your computer rather than operating streaming servers (OBS Help Portal).
If you cannot leave a computer online, consider a cloud service, but check its plan, maximum duration and what happens after a disconnect before relying on it. OneStream Live says its 24/7 feature requires Enterprise and allows a maximum duration of 30 days, according to its page last updated September 3, 2026 (OneStream Live’s 24/7 guide). Looping Stream’s search-result offer states $0 for seven days and 24 total hours; that is a limited introductory allowance, not unlimited free 24/7 use. Confirm current terms directly with each provider.

Before you set up the stream
Make sure your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before you plan to start (YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming; YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
Prepare media you have the right to use
Use relaxation audio and visuals you created, or content whose license expressly covers YouTube live streaming and archived use. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a warning, a replacement image, interruption or termination. If you have a license for third-party content, YouTube says to ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Set up a continuous stream with OBS
- Install OBS Studio on the computer you intend to leave running. Download it from the OBS Project. The evidence here does not establish a minimum computer specification; test your own system and connection before depending on it for a long session.
- Activate live streaming in YouTube Studio. Verify the channel and complete YouTube’s activation steps. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation to become available.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Choose an encoder-based stream, then copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube. The exact screens can change; use YouTube’s current encoder instructions if the labels differ.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream URL and key if prompted. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Build the relaxation scene. Add your permitted video or visual source and audio source to an OBS scene. Check that the media plays, audio is audible, and the intended picture is visible in the OBS preview before going live.
- Set video and output deliberately. OBS settings for resolution, frame rate, encoder and bitrate depend on your source media, computer and available upload bandwidth. The sources available here do not establish a safe universal bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval, so do not copy a guessed preset. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance and OBS’s output controls, then test for dropped frames and stable playback before leaving the stream unattended.
- Start and monitor the stream. Start streaming in OBS and confirm that YouTube Studio receives the feed. Keep the computer awake, OBS open, power connected and internet available. If the feed stops, the local setup needs attention; OBS does not provide a separate cloud server to keep it alive.
Plan for archives and monetization
YouTube says streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 session is therefore not a dependable way to create a complete replay. If an archive matters, plan shorter sessions and/or a local recording backup, and test the exact workflow before relying on it (YouTube encoder and archive guidance).
Going live for long periods, looping footage or accumulating watch time does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s monetization policy says content should be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. The policy page notes a clarification dated July 15, 2025, and says the reused-content policy did not change (YouTube channel monetization policies).

Cloud option: what the free offers do and do not cover
Cloud streaming shifts the continuous-running task from your home computer to a provider, but compare the total recurring cost, maximum session length, upload or storage needs, restart controls, disconnect recovery and archive behavior. A short free trial or capped allowance is not the same as permanent free 24/7 hosting. The available provider information does not establish a universal uptime guarantee or enough evidence to rank cloud providers for reliability.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not show the stream: Confirm live streaming is activated, the correct stream URL and key are in OBS, and the key has not been changed. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Dropped frames increase: OBS says this can indicate an unstable connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Check the connection and adjust output settings using current YouTube guidance rather than assuming one bitrate suits every setup.
- The stream stops when you leave: The local OBS method needs the computer and its connection to stay available. Check sleep and power settings, and use a cloud service if you need the stream to continue with your computer off.
- YouTube warns about copyrighted content: Stop or replace the material if needed, confirm the license covers live and archived use, and ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID. A license alone may not prevent an interruption.
- A 24-hour replay is incomplete or missing: Sessions exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use shorter sessions and/or a local recording if a full archive is important.
