OBS Studio is the clearest no-license-cost option for streaming pre-recorded video to YouTube, but it is not a free cloud host: your own computer and internet connection must stay available. The cloud services covered here do not establish a free, uninterrupted 24/7 plan. Streamloop describes signup credits for roughly an hour at standard quality, while OneStream Live’s documented free tier limits prerecorded streams to 15 minutes and does not support playlists.
Which free tools can actually run a 24/7 YouTube loop?
“Free” can mean no software license fee, a short trial, or a free plan with limits. Those are not equivalent. For a genuinely continuous loop, check whether the service allows long prerecorded streams, supports playlists or looping, and keeps running after any trial credits end.

2. OBS Studio: the no-license-cost do-it-yourself route
OBS is free and open-source, but the broadcast runs from your machine rather than a hosted cloud loop. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. In practice, leaving a local stream running means keeping the computer powered, OBS active, and internet connection stable. Treat unattended playlist looping and recovery as items to verify in your chosen setup; the cited YouTube encoder guide does not promise them for OBS.
Set up the YouTube broadcast
- Enable live streaming on your channel. Follow YouTube’s live-stream setup. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder guide.
- Prepare the prerecorded material. Confirm that you own the video and audio or have permission to use them, and that the planned stream complies with YouTube’s rules. A long-running stream does not exempt its content from copyright or Community Guidelines.
- Create or open the live stream in YouTube Studio. In the stream settings, obtain the server URL and stream key. YouTube says to connect an encoder with those values; treat the stream key as a password and do not publish or share it.
- Install and configure OBS. Add the prerecorded video or media source you intend to broadcast, then enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in OBS’s stream settings. The exact OBS labels can vary by release, so use the current OBS interface and YouTube’s encoder instructions rather than assuming a fixed menu path.
- Start the encoder and verify the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Confirm that both picture and audio reach the live preview before relying on the stream. Keep the machine awake and OBS open for the duration, and monitor the broadcast if a manual restart would be required after a failure.
YouTube’s live-stream help page, accessed October 3, 2026, states a minimum age of 16 for live streaming and documents limits of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key. What OBS does not make free
- Power and hardware: the computer must remain available while streaming.
- Connectivity: your upload connection must remain online and stable.
- Operations: software licensing costs nothing, but unattended recovery and playlist behavior depend on your configuration and should not be assumed from YouTube’s encoder instructions.
3. Short-credit and restricted free plans
Streamloop: try the cloud briefly, not indefinitely
Streamloop describes its service as cloud-based and says signup credits cover roughly one hour of standard-quality streaming. Its own page says a stream pauses when credits are exhausted. That makes the allowance useful for a short trial, not evidence of continuous free operation. Confirm current terms directly because vendor plans can change.

OneStream Live’s help article, last updated August 24, 2026, says its free plan is indefinite, but caps prerecorded streams at 15 minutes, limits resolution to 720p, and excludes playlist streaming. Those vendor-stated restrictions make the documented free plan unsuitable for a continuous prerecorded loop.

YouTube’s verified-encoder directory identifies Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streams. That description does not say it has a free plan or establish its current price. Check its current offer before deciding it meets a free-only budget.

A tool can transmit a video without granting you rights to broadcast it. Use material you created or have permission to stream; check licenses for music, visuals, and any embedded third-party content. YouTube’s live-stream rules also apply to prerecorded broadcasts, including Community Guidelines. A violation can lead to restriction or removal, so a continuous schedule should never be treated as permission to replay content indefinitely.
