Start with YouTube Studio’s Audio Library. It is the most platform-specific option for a YouTube meditation livestream: YouTube says its library tracks are known to be copyright-safe and known not to be claimed through Content ID. Search for Indian styles, check the individual track’s attribution label, and save the license details before you go live. “Free” describes the price—not necessarily permission for a livestream, its replay, monetization, or cross-posting.
Where to find free Indian meditation music
YouTube Studio Audio Library: the best first stop
Open YouTube Studio and select Audio Library from the left menu. In the Music tab, search terms such as Indian, classical, meditation, raga, sitar, or tanpura. Narrow results with the available genre, mood, duration, and attribution filters, then listen to candidates before choosing one. Check the license label on the specific track before downloading. For a Creative Commons track, copy the supplied attribution into the video description. If you want to avoid that obligation, filter for tracks marked attribution not required. YouTube’s guidance says its own Audio Library downloads are known not to be claimed through Content ID; that is a narrower assurance than a guarantee about every possible rights issue or use outside YouTube. Pixabay has several relevant search results. For example, “Deep Restoration Calm Indian Classical meditation” by MeditativeTiger is a 2:30 MP3 page that describes the track as free under the Pixabay Content License; the page lists publication on December 17, 2025. “Indian Music” by MusicForPeople is a 3:59 track page describing flute, sitar, tabla, and vocals, with meditation among its suggested uses; it is listed as free under the same license and published March 4, 2026.

These are examples to review, not endorsements or proof that a track suits your session. Listen for the pace, dynamics, vocal presence, and duration you want, then verify the current track page and license for your planned uses. Pixabay’s general permission for some video uses does not establish that every specific track has an explicit livestream grant or will avoid automated claims.
Wikimedia Commons: educational raga recordings
Wikimedia Commons file pages list NCERT Official recordings of Rag Desi and Rag Durga as 2016 recordings under CC BY 3.0, credited to NCERT Official. These are educational raga programs rather than necessarily seamless meditation beds. Check the current file-page license record and whether the recording works for your session. CC BY requires appropriate credit, a link to the license, and an indication of changes.

Compare a source by rights and practical fit
Before choosing, assess the actual track and intended use—not just whether a download is free or called royalty-free.

Check that the license covers the whole livestream use
- Identify every use. Check permission for live broadcast, the archived replay, monetization, and cross-posting if you plan to do any of those. A license that permits one kind of video use may not establish all the others.
- Read the track-specific terms. Review the current Audio Library label, Pixabay track page and license, or Commons file page. Do not infer rights from “free,” “royalty-free,” or “no copyright” wording alone.
- Save documentation. Keep the track URL, downloaded filename, a copy or record of the applicable license information, and any available certificate. For Commons, retain the required credit and license details as well.
- Prepare attribution before going live. For Audio Library Creative Commons tracks, use the supplied credit in the video description. For CC BY Commons recordings, provide appropriate credit, link the license, and state any changes.
- Decide whether claim handling is acceptable. For an external track, even documented permission may not prevent an automated Content ID claim. Be ready to provide your documentation and follow YouTube’s claim process if one occurs.
Pixabay says music may be incorporated into commercial video projects when it forms part of a larger creative work, but it may not be distributed standalone. Pixabay also explains that some music is Content ID-registered. What to do if a livestream or replay gets a claim
- Check what was claimed. Review the notice in YouTube Studio and identify the track and the affected content or territory.
- Gather evidence before responding. Use the saved track URL, filename, license record, certificate if available, and any required attribution to confirm what permission you have.
- Choose a response based on your rights. If you have permission that covers the use, follow YouTube’s dispute process and submit accurate supporting information. If you cannot establish permission for the claimed use, replace or remove the music where possible rather than asserting rights you do not have.
- Separate claims from strikes. Pixabay notes that a Content ID claim is distinct from a copyright strike. Read the actual YouTube notice; do not treat the terms as interchangeable.

Use the rights holder or a licensing service and confirm that the license covers the exact recording, livestream, replay, monetization, territory, and platform.
