For a prerecorded bhajan video you plan to upload to YouTube, use an MP4 container with H.264 video and AAC-LC audio. YouTube’s upload guidance also recommends putting the MP4 index at the front of the file (Fast Start) and keeping the frame rate the same as the source. A YouTube playlist of uploaded videos is different from a 24/7 livestream: a livestream needs an encoder feed and YouTube’s separate live settings.
Choose the right format for your 24/7 setup
“24/7 playlist” can describe two different things. The file format depends on which one you mean:
- Uploaded videos in a YouTube playlist: Export each video as MP4 with H.264 video and AAC-LC audio, then upload it and add it to a playlist. These are regular videos viewers can play from the playlist; the playlist itself is not a continuous live event.
- An always-on livestream: A streaming encoder sends a continuous feed to YouTube using a live ingestion protocol and live-specific settings. The uploaded MP4 is source media, not the livestream protocol.
If your goal is simply to let viewers play bhajans from a playlist, use the upload settings below. If you need a live event that stays on continuously, use the live encoder settings in the next section and verify that your chosen setup can loop and recover as needed.
Recommended export settings for uploaded bhajan videos
YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings provide the following starting point for a standard SDR video:

| Setting | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Container | MP4 |
| Video codec | H.264 |
| Video structure | Progressive scan, High Profile, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, closed GOP, CABAC, and two consecutive B frames |
| Frame rate | Keep the rate at which the material was recorded. YouTube lists common rates including 24, 25, 30, 48, 50, and 60 fps. |
| SDR color | BT.709 |
| Audio | AAC-LC is a conventional supported choice for stereo; YouTube also lists Opus and Eclipsa Audio. Use a 48 kHz sample rate. |
| MP4 layout | No edit lists; place the moov atom at the front of the file (Fast Start). |
For stereo audio, YouTube’s upload guidance recommends 384 kbps. Its corresponding recommendations are 128 kbps for mono and 512 kbps for 5.1 audio. Keep audio and video bitrate settings distinct: the video figures below are not audio settings.
Upload video bitrate starting points
The following are YouTube’s recommended bitrates for SDR uploads, not livestream ingestion. Select the row matching both the video resolution and frame-rate class:
Rank #2
- Model: Dell OptiPlex 7050 Small Form Factor (SFF)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 3.60 GHz
- Memory: 32GB DDR4 Ram
- Storage: 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) Fast Boot + Storage
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (64-bit)
| Upload resolution and frame rate | Recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p, 24/25/30 fps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p, 48/50/60 fps | 7.5 Mbps |
| 1080p, 24/25/30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p, 48/50/60 fps | 12 Mbps |
These figures are from YouTube’s current upload guidance accessed in 2026. They are examples, not a universal bitrate for every export: YouTube’s table varies by resolution and frame-rate class.

If you are sending a live encoder feed rather than uploading finished videos, follow YouTube’s live encoder guidance. For the described RTMP/RTMPS workflow, YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate (CBR); and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP.

Live bitrate examples for H.264
Use the live bitrate table row for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you actually configure. YouTube’s current live guidance accessed in 2026 recommends:
| Live video configuration | Recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| H.264, 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps |
| H.264, 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
Do not substitute upload bitrate figures for live ingestion values. YouTube transcodes the incoming live stream into output formats for viewers, but that does not remove the need to provide a stable encoder feed.
Rank #4
- Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, B760 chipset motherboard, 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RGB Memory, 1TB NVMe M.2, WiFi, Windows 11
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, Display Port/HDMI
- Closed Loop Liquid Cooling with 240mm Radiator
- 2x USB 3.0, 1x Headphone, 1x Mic
- PSU Power cover with Filtered Ventilated Vertical Side mount Radiator support
Connection and encoder checks before going live
- Choose a stream quality your upload connection can sustain, and leave bandwidth headroom. YouTube recommends keeping total stream bitrate within available upload bandwidth with 20% room.
- Test the complete setup before relying on it for a continuous event.
- If recording a local archive, check that the archive file is growing during the stream.
- Monitor audio and video quality rather than assuming the encoder is still sending a good feed.
- Verify the actual software’s looping, restart, and recovery behavior. YouTube’s encoder recommendations do not certify any particular third-party continuous-streaming setup.
Upload playlist or livestream: which should you use?
| Consideration | Uploaded playlist | Continuous livestream |
|---|---|---|
| What viewers see | A playlist of uploaded videos they can play. | A live event with livestream controls. |
| What you prepare | Finished video files uploaded to YouTube. | An encoder feed configured for YouTube Live. |
| Settings that matter here | Upload container, codecs, frame rate, and upload bitrate. | Ingestion protocol, live codecs, CBR, keyframe interval, and live bitrate. |
| Continuity and recovery | Playlist playback is not the same as maintaining a live event. | Check the encoder or service you use for looping and recovery; YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish those behaviors for a particular setup. |
Copyright and channel-policy checks for bhajan videos
Before uploading or streaming, make sure you have the necessary rights to the recording and any music, performance, images, or other material in the video. A devotional song or traditional composition does not automatically make a particular recording or arrangement free to use. YouTube’s audio and video encoding recommendations specify technical settings; they do not establish that a work is copyright-safe or that a channel meets monetization requirements.
