For a prerecorded 1080p30 Hindi news replay on YouTube Live, start with H.264 at 10 Mbps CBR, progressive 1920×1080 video, a two-second keyframe interval, Rec. 709 SDR at 8-bit, and stereo AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Hindi does not require a special bitrate or encoding profile in YouTube’s published live-stream guidance; choose settings for the replay’s actual frame rate and codec.

Recommended FFmpeg settings for 1080p YouTube Live

YouTube’s H.264 recommendations depend on frame rate. At 1080p30, use 10 Mbps; at 1080p60, use 12 Mbps. YouTube lists minimums of 5 Mbps and 6 Mbps, respectively, but those are minimum figures, not the recommended targets. They are platform recommendations, not a guarantee of clean video: the source, encoder build, and upload connection all affect the result. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance was accessed in 2026.

Setting 1080p30 starting choice 1080p60 starting choice
Video H.264, 1920×1080 progressive H.264, 1920×1080 progressive
Recommended video bitrate 10 Mbps 12 Mbps
Listed minimum video bitrate 5 Mbps 6 Mbps
Rate control CBR CBR
Keyframe interval 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds
Keyframe distance at the listed frame rate 60 frames 120 frames
Color Rec. 709 SDR, 8-bit Rec. 709 SDR, 8-bit
Audio AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz
Ingest protocol RTMPS

YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 options. At 1080p30, its recommended bitrate for either is 10 Mbps, with a listed minimum of 4 Mbps; at 1080p60, the recommendation is 12 Mbps, with a 4 Mbps minimum. Use those figures only when your encoder workflow supports the selected codec. The H.264 command below is not an AV1 or H.265 recipe.

Use the replay’s real frame rate

Do not convert 25- or 30-fps footage to 60 fps without a production reason. It does not create genuine motion detail and can add needless processing. YouTube’s cited live bitrate table gives 1080p figures for 30 and 60 fps. For a 25-fps source, preserve the source cadence where feasible and check the detected ingest details in Live Control Room; do not present a 25-fps bitrate as an official recommendation from that table. Hindi language and news content do not change the encoding requirements established in that guidance.

Use the live-ingestion figures above, not YouTube’s separate upload recommendations. The upload page lists 8 Mbps for 1080p standard-frame-rate SDR uploads and 12 Mbps for 1080p high-frame-rate SDR uploads; those figures concern file uploads, not a live encoder feed. YouTube’s upload encoding settings was accessed in 2026.

FFmpeg command for a 1080p30 replay

ffmpeg -re -i replay.mp4
  -vf "scale=1920:1080,fps=30"
  -c:v libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p
  -b:v 10M -minrate 10M -maxrate 10M -bufsize 20M
  -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
  -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
  -f flv 'rtmps://<YouTube-ingest-url>/<stream-key>'

This is an illustrative starting point synthesized from documented FFmpeg options and YouTube’s recommended live settings; it has not been tested here. Replace the output placeholder with the RTMPS ingest URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password. The installed FFmpeg build must include libx264. Check with ffmpeg -encoders; if it is absent, use a build that includes it or another supported encoder.

  • All-in-One Equipment Kit: TC310+ is a completed mic & arm kit, equipped with a metal-made boom arm and the sturdy clamp that fits most desks with a thickness not exceeding 2.36''. Multiple adjustable joints let you easily find the perfect angle for you and your desk & monitor.

The filter explicitly scales to 1920×1080 and sets the output to 30 fps. Use that only if you intend to deliver 30 fps. To preserve a 25-fps source, remove the fps=30 conversion and choose an intentional workflow; YouTube’s cited table does not specify a 25-fps H.264 target. For 1080p60, use a genuine 60-fps source or a deliberate production conversion, set the video target to 12 Mbps, and set -g 120 -keyint_min 120 for a two-second GOP at 60 fps.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What the important flags do

  • -re reads the file at its native rate instead of sending it as fast as FFmpeg can process it. This is appropriate for file-based live output.
  • -b:v, -minrate, and -maxrate express the target and bounds; -bufsize 20M sets the rate-control buffer. These flags are a CBR-oriented configuration, not a promise of identical strict constant-rate behavior across encoder builds. Check the actual stream health.
  • -g 60 and -keyint_min 60 set the GOP distance in frames for a two-second interval at 30 fps. -sc_threshold 0 disables scene-cut keyframes so the GOP does not vary due to scene changes.
  • -pix_fmt yuv420p selects a widely compatible pixel format. Keep the output SDR and Rec. 709 as recommended for this setup.
  • -ar 44100 sets the audio sample rate; -b:a 128k sets the AAC audio bitrate.

Configure YouTube Live and validate the feed

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach Live Control Room. Create or select the stream, then copy the encoder URL and stream key into FFmpeg’s output address. The key grants access to the stream, so do not share it or publish it in a command screenshot.
  2. Check the upload connection’s sustained capacity before broadcasting. YouTube advises choosing settings appropriate to the connection and testing before going live. Leave headroom rather than assuming a speed-test peak will hold continuously. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
  3. Run a private or unlisted test with a representative segment that includes movement, graphics, and speech. A static title card will not reveal problems with motion or audio.
  4. Watch Live Control Room’s stream health and messages. Confirm that YouTube detects the expected resolution and frame rate, and address warnings before relying on the replay as a live program.
  5. Choose stream latency in Live Control Room according to the program. Lower latency can increase playback buffering; a replay without audience interaction may not benefit from the lowest-latency option. YouTube’s encoder guidance also notes that DVR lets viewers pause and resume a live stream.

YouTube automatically transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers’ devices and network conditions. Your job is to deliver a stable, correctly configured feed to ingest; a successful encoder output does not mean every viewer receives the same playback rendition. See YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance.

Copyright, reused material, and replay eligibility

Correct bitrate and a healthy ingest do not grant permission to rebroadcast a news recording. Before streaming, verify that you own or have permission to use the video, audio, music, clips, logos, and other material in it. YouTube’s copyright and monetization rules are separate from technical encoder settings; a replay can stream successfully and still face a copyright claim, restriction, or monetization decision. Check YouTube’s current policies and the rights applicable to the specific recording before going live.

Do not assume that labeling a recording “news replay,” adding a live encoder, or looping it makes the content original or clears its rights. If your channel relies on reused footage, assess whether it meets YouTube’s applicable reused-content and monetization policies independently of whether the stream is technically accepted. For a practical preflight, use the copyright safety checklist.

Troubleshooting common FFmpeg and YouTube Live problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or change
FFmpeg reports that libx264 is unavailable The installed build was compiled without that encoder. Run ffmpeg -encoders and use a build with libx264, or configure a different supported video encoder.
YouTube does not receive the stream The ingest URL or key may be wrong, or the stream has not been started in Live Control Room. Copy the current RTMPS URL and key again, check for stray spaces or quoting errors, and verify the selected stream in Live Control Room. Keep the key private.
Stream health reports unstable or insufficient bitrate The upload connection may not sustain the selected target; network variation can interrupt delivery. Test the connection under realistic conditions, reduce the target only if necessary while staying within YouTube’s listed settings, and retest. A minimum is not the same as the recommended target.
Detected frame rate or resolution differs from the intended output The input may have a different cadence or dimensions, or the filter may be converting it. Inspect the source, review the -vf filter, and verify the detected ingest in Live Control Room. Remove unintended frame-rate conversion.
Motion looks juddery or duplicated The source cadence may not match the forced output frame rate. Preserve the original cadence where feasible. Avoid turning 25/30-fps footage into 60 fps without a specific production need.
Audio is missing, distorted, or out of sync The source audio stream may be absent or unusual, or the chosen audio parameters may not suit the file. Confirm the input has audio, inspect FFmpeg output for audio-stream errors, and test the AAC stereo output before the live program.
Unexpected keyframe pattern or bitrate behavior Encoder builds can interpret rate-control and GOP options differently, and scene-cut behavior may affect keyframes. Keep the intended two-second GOP settings, check stream health, and validate the actual ingest rather than treating the command flags as a guarantee.
