For a prerecorded Kannada news replay uploaded as a video, export an MP4 with H.264 video, progressive scan, the recording’s original frame rate, variable bitrate, AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz, and BT.709 color. At 1080p, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for 24, 25, or 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 48, 50, or 60 fps. If you send the replay as a YouTube Live broadcast instead, use live-ingest settings: the rate control and bitrate targets differ.
Choose the workflow before setting the bitrate
“Replay stream” can mean either uploading a finished recording as a video or rebroadcasting that recording through YouTube Live. Treat these as different delivery paths: an upload is a file YouTube processes after you submit it, while a live rebroadcast is an encoded stream sent to YouTube’s ingest system.

Kannada does not require a special codec or bitrate. Choose settings for the source footage and the delivery method, then check that Kannada text and graphics survive the export.

Export settings for a prerecorded upload
Video and container
- Container: MP4.
- Video: H.264, progressive scan, and variable bitrate.
- Frame rate: Keep the source frame rate. YouTube says content should be encoded and uploaded at the rate it was recorded. Avoid increasing it just to select a larger number.
- Keyframes: Use a closed GOP with a GOP length equal to half the frame rate.
- Color: For ordinary SDR footage, use BT.709. HDR is unnecessary unless the source and complete workflow are HDR-compatible.
Choose the upload bitrate by resolution and frame rate
These are YouTube’s published SDR video upload recommendations, not guaranteed quality levels. Select the row matching both the export resolution and frame rate.

Source: YouTube upload encoding guidance. These upload values are not targets for a live encoder. YouTube does not require a maximum upload bitrate, but a higher export bitrate cannot restore detail missing from the source.
Audio and picture checks
- Use AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz as a practical documented choice.
- If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it for a progressive upload. YouTube gives 1080i60 converted to 1080p30 as an example.
- Keep a 16:9 program within its frame. YouTube’s standard computer aspect ratio is 16:9; the player adapts other aspect ratios.
- Export a short sample and inspect Kannada glyphs, subtitles, names, and ticker text at full size. Codec settings cannot fix missing fonts or faulty text rendering in the editing project.
Settings for rebroadcasting the replay through YouTube Live
If the recording is being sent as a live broadcast, configure the live encoder rather than using the upload table. YouTube recommends RTMPS, CBR, progressive scan, and a two-second keyframe interval; keyframes should not be more than four seconds apart. Use the source frame rate where supported, up to 60 fps.

The figures above reflect the English live encoder guidance available for this article. YouTube may revise its recommendations, so confirm the current table and stream-health indicators when configuring a broadcast. Do not substitute upload bitrates for live-ingest rates. For live audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3, with 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo as recommended advanced settings. Use Rec.709, 8-bit SDR for an ordinary SDR program.

Source: YouTube live encoder guidance. YouTube transcodes incoming live streams into formats for different devices and networks, but that does not remove the need for a stable contribution stream from your encoder.

Make Kannada news graphics and audio hold up
- Prioritize readable tickers and names. Check text at the size viewers will see it, including letters with fine marks and any subtitles. If the exported sample looks wrong, investigate the project’s font or rendering before changing bitrate.
- Preserve motion cadence. A studio presenter and static graphics may have little motion, but inserted video can be much more demanding. Keep the source frame rate rather than converting solely to reach a higher frame-rate tier.
- Use the source’s aspect ratio. For a 16:9 newscast, keep graphics inside the 16:9 frame. Other aspect ratios are adapted by the player.
- Keep SDR footage SDR. BT.709/Rec.709 is appropriate for ordinary SDR news footage; an HDR profile is not a quality upgrade for SDR material.
Test the broadcast and protect the recording
Before going live
- Run an unlisted or private test using representative speech, music, motion, graphics, and inserted clips.
- Check stream health and listen to the audio while the test is running. YouTube recommends testing with representative audio and motion.
- Confirm that the sustained upload connection can carry the encoded stream reliably. A nominal speed test is not proof that the connection will remain stable throughout the program.
- Choose the highest resolution and bitrate that the connection can stream reliably; excessive bitrate can contribute to buffering or dropped frames if the network cannot sustain it.

Keep a local archive
YouTube says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Record a local backup, confirm that the recording file is growing during the event, and check the saved file before deleting the source material.
