The right company enrichment API depends on what you need it to do: fill firmographic fields, update a CRM record, retrieve company profiles at scale, or support a wider prospecting workflow. The available documentation supports four useful options—Apollo, HubSpot, Coresignal, and CompanyEnrich—but does not establish an apples-to-apples performance ranking of ten providers. Treat this as a workflow shortlist, then test candidate APIs against your own target companies.
What a company enrichment API does—and what it may not do
Company enrichment adds or refreshes business attributes on a company record, often using a company domain, name, or profile URL to identify the organization. Depending on the service, the result may include firmographics, locations, public contact details, technologies, funding information, or links to company profiles.
Do not assume that company enrichment includes person-level contact data. People enrichment is a related but distinct workflow: it may return job titles, employment history, contact details, or a person’s associated company. Apollo documents separate organization and people endpoints, while HubSpot describes enrichment for both contact and company records. Company search and data retrieval are also not automatically the same as enriching an existing record. Before choosing an API, define whether you need one-off lookups, search, bulk processing, CRM-native updates, or some combination.

Four company enrichment APIs to consider
These options address different workflows. Their inclusion is not a claim that they outperform other providers; verify fit, field coverage, and commercial terms against your requirements.
| API or service | Most relevant workflow | Documented identifiers or capabilities | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apollo | Company enrichment alongside a broader people and contact workflow | Organization enrichment uses a company website URL. The separate people endpoint can match using email, name plus company domain, or Apollo person ID. | Organization enrichment is documented at one credit per organization. People enrichment credit use varies with returned data and options. Apollo organization docs Apollo people docs |
| HubSpot data enrichment / Breeze | Updating contact and company records within an existing HubSpot CRM workflow | Supports automatic and individual enrichment for contact and company records. | Availability depends on subscriptions and features. HubSpot says enrichment draws on its commercial dataset, third-party providers, and publicly available information. Confirm current access for your subscription. HubSpot enrichment documentation |
| Coresignal Clean Company API | API-based company profile enrichment, search, and collection | Enrichment by website URL; company search and collection endpoints. Its field dictionary covers firmographics, products and services, public contact details, social and website links, location, funding, technologies, and company updates. | Clean Company data is filtered, cleaned, and further enriched; some fields are identified as cleaned or enriched. Coresignal also distinguishes Clean, Multi-source, and Base Company data products. Test field provenance and product behavior on your own sample. | CompanyEnrich | A broader API suite spanning company, people, and related discovery tasks | Vendor documentation describes enrichment by domain, name, or social URL; company search; similar-company discovery; people search; workforce trends; reverse email lookup; and bulk enrichment. | The documentation claims 33 million-plus companies and 193 million-plus people profiles. These are vendor-reported figures, with no publication year stated on the documentation page; verify them and current plan terms directly. CompanyEnrich documentation |
How to choose the right fit
Choose by the system you already use
- Already operating in HubSpot: assess its native enrichment first if the goal is to update company and contact records without building a separate data workflow. Check that your subscription and enabled features include the capabilities you need.
- Building an API-led company-data workflow: evaluate Coresignal’s company endpoints if you need company profiles, search, or collection, and review whether Clean, Multi-source, or Base data best fits your requirements.
- Need company and people data in one prospecting process: Apollo documents both types of enrichment, but as separate endpoints with different credit behavior. Estimate costs for the full workflow, not just the company lookup.
- Need a wider set of discovery endpoints: CompanyEnrich documents a suite that includes company and people search, bulk enrichment, and related functions. Verify which endpoints and fields are available on the plan you would use.
Match your identifier to the API
Start with the identifiers you can reliably supply. Apollo’s organization endpoint uses a company website URL; Coresignal documents website-based company enrichment. CompanyEnrich says its company enrichment accepts a domain, name, or social URL. If your records often lack a domain or contain ambiguous company names, test those cases explicitly rather than assuming a match will be returned. Check each provider’s documentation for match behavior and any confidence indicators.
Check the fields, not just the word “enrichment”
List the exact fields your application needs and compare them with each API’s current schema. Coresignal’s documented dictionary, for example, spans firmographics, products and services, contact details, locations, funding, technologies, web and social links, and company updates. A broad category in a product description does not guarantee that every field is present for every company. Ask how nulls, normalized values, and enriched or inferred fields are represented, and whether field provenance is exposed.

Vendor descriptions alone cannot establish comparative accuracy, coverage, or freshness. Evaluate each candidate with a common sample that reflects the companies you actually need to identify and maintain.
Rank #3
- Build a representative test set. Include companies from your target geographies and size ranges, plus records with incomplete or ambiguous identifiers. Use the same inputs for each API.
- Define success field by field. Decide which attributes are essential, what counts as a usable match, and how you will score missing, conflicting, or stale values. Keep firmographic and people-data requirements separate.
- Record match and data behavior. Note accepted identifiers, whether the API returns no match or multiple candidates, any confidence or provenance information, and how it treats missing values. Do not convert a vendor’s database-size claim into an assumed match rate.
- Test the full operational path. Exercise single lookups and any required search or bulk workflow. Check API limits, write-back or CRM integration needs, error handling, and how records are refreshed.
- Calculate expected usage and cost. Apply the provider’s documented credit or usage rules to the volume and options your workflow will actually call. Include related person enrichment if your process needs it.
- Review data-use terms. Confirm current terms for permitted use, retention, and handling of returned data before integrating it into production.
Pricing, access, and claims to verify
Usage models can make two superficially similar lookups cost different amounts. Apollo documents one credit per organization for organization enrichment; its people-enrichment credit use depends on the data returned and selected options. Coresignal’s documentation also describes credits for successful requests. Check the current product and plan terms, and model the number of successful requests and optional endpoints you expect to run.
Subscription eligibility, API limits, field availability, and pricing can change. The documentation cited here was captured on October 7, 2026; verify current terms directly before procurement. The same caution applies to vendor-reported database sizes: CompanyEnrich’s figures are vendor claims, not independently validated measurements.
Rank #4
Why this is a shortlist, not a definitive “best 10” ranking
Company data products cover different tasks. Some focus on company firmographics, others on CRM record updates, contact data, funding intelligence, email verification, or identifying a company from an IP address. A list of ten names would not make those APIs equivalent, and the available evidence does not provide a common independent benchmark for accuracy, match rate, coverage, freshness, or value.
Recommended Free Tools
Choose based on the workflow and fields you can verify, then compare providers using the same sample and success criteria. A vendor’s stated database scale or feature breadth is useful context, but it is not proof that the API will return the right information for your records.
