Best sourced budget candidate: Inservers’ New Delhi IN-BASIC plan, listed from ₹880 per month, with 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps unmetered uplink. Inservers says it can relay one 1080p60 stream without transcoding. Those are the provider’s published specifications and capacity claim, not independent test results, so treat it as a candidate to verify—not a proven best VPS in India. The right budget depends chiefly on whether your setup forwards an already-encoded feed or re-encodes it. A relay is much lighter work for the server. Before committing to a continuous stream, check the provider’s terms and test your exact workflow to YouTube.
Which VPS should you shortlist?
For a self-managed Nginx RTMP relay in India, shortlist Inservers IN-BASIC if you are forwarding one already-encoded stream and are comfortable administering the server. Inservers lists New Delhi deployment and the following starting monthly plans on its streaming VPS page, accessed October 3, 2026:

The provider recommends larger plans for multiple relays or transcoding, but the available page does not establish independent stream-count capacity, network test results or a service-level guarantee. A 1 Gbps port listing is not a promise of sustained end-to-end throughput to YouTube.

Verify the real cost before ordering
Ask the provider to confirm the checkout price, taxes, renewal terms, transfer or fair-use policy, current availability and support. For a stream that must stay live, also ask what happens if the VPS is rebooted, the network route degrades or the process stops. The plan price alone does not include the time needed to install, secure, monitor and recover your relay.
Size the server for relay or transcoding
Relaying an encoded feed
With a relay, OBS or another encoder produces the video stream; Nginx forwards it to YouTube. The VPS does not need to decode and encode every frame, so CPU demand is generally much lower than for transcoding. IN-BASIC is Inservers’ stated fit for one 1080p60 relay without transcoding. Confirm your source, configuration and sustained network path in a test rather than assuming the plan will work for every feed.

Transcoding or running multiple streams
Transcoding means decoding and encoding video on the VPS. Resolution, frame rate, codec, encoder settings and number of simultaneous outputs all affect load. Inservers recommends larger plans for transcoding or multiple relays, but does not provide independent benchmarks establishing which plan will handle a particular combination. Do not buy based on a generic stream-count claim: test the exact workload and watch CPU, memory and network use.
Match the outgoing feed to YouTube
YouTube’s current live encoder guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 video up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says it should not exceed four seconds. Its recommended H.264 bitrates include:

These are YouTube’s encoder recommendations, not measured VPS capacity requirements. Your source, encoder and actual connection determine whether the feed remains stable. Use YouTube’s live encoder settings and recommendations, test with representative motion and audio, and monitor stream health during the event.
Use YouTube’s actual ingest endpoint and key
Get the ingest server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room or the relevant API workflow. Do not copy an example endpoint into a production configuration or share the key: anyone with the key may be able to send video to that stream.

Prefer RTMPS where your relay and ingest configuration support it. Google describes RTMPS as “a regular RTMP (RealTime Messaging Protocol) video stream tunneled through an SSL connection.” Its documented setup requires a valid RTMPS endpoint and path, port 443, and SNI using the server hostname for authentication. A VPS rental does not itself make a stream continuous. You are responsible for the relay configuration, process supervision, server updates, access security, monitoring and recovery. YouTube advises testing before going live and monitoring stream health; include those checks in your operating plan.

- Test the complete path: send the intended resolution, frame rate, codec, audio and bitrate to YouTube before relying on the stream.
- Watch server load and network behavior: check CPU and memory during the real workload, plus sustained outbound transfer and connection stability to YouTube.
- Plan restart and recovery: decide how the relay is restarted after a process failure or server reboot, and verify what viewers see while YouTube reconnects.
- Secure administration: restrict server access, protect credentials and stream keys, and apply security updates without unexpectedly interrupting the feed.
- Check content rights and platform rules: you need the necessary rights to the video, music and other material in the stream. A VPS does not change YouTube’s copyright or monetization policies; review the current YouTube copyright guidance and YouTube channel monetization policies for your use case.
How to choose without overbuying
- Identify the input. Decide whether the VPS will forward an already-encoded live feed or encode/transcode video itself. The IN-BASIC suitability statement applies to a single 1080p60 relay without transcoding, according to Inservers.
- Set the intended YouTube profile. Choose resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, keyframe interval and audio format using YouTube’s guidance and your source material.
- Estimate sustained outbound use. A 17 Mbps feed is roughly 7.65 GB of video data per hour before protocol overhead; continuous operation can therefore make transfer policy and fair-use terms important. Confirm the provider’s policy rather than interpreting “unmetered” as unlimited real-world throughput.
- Compare the full operating burden. Include monthly charge, taxes, renewal and overages, plus your time for setup, monitoring and recovery—not just vCPU and RAM.
- Run a representative trial. Test the exact stream to YouTube, check stream health and server load, and confirm that the route remains stable over the period relevant to your use.
When a VPS is the wrong workflow
An Nginx RTMP VPS is for a self-managed relay or media workflow. If your goal is instead to play uploaded videos in a continuous YouTube loop, a managed service may be simpler, but it is not equivalent to a VPS relay for a live camera or feed and does not provide the same server-administration control.
