The best alternative depends on what “looping” means: repeating a clip during a live show, scheduling a prerecorded broadcast, or running a YouTube stream continuously without someone at the controls. For an unattended 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo is the clearest fit here: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, with any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. StreamYard documents clip looping and scheduled prerecorded broadcasts; OBS is a hands-on encoder option, not by itself a managed cloud loop.
Choose by the kind of loop you need
These tools address different jobs, so they are not interchangeable alternatives on every criterion.
| What you want to do | Best fit among these options | What the documented capability means |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat a clip during a live studio show | StreamYard | Its help center documents a setting to loop a video clip in the broadcast studio. That supports repeating a clip during a studio session, not an unattended 24/7 stream. |
| Start a prerecorded broadcast at a chosen time | StreamYard | Its prerecorded-stream instructions say a scheduled event can begin without the operator being online to start it. This is a scheduled broadcast, not proof of continuous looping. |
| Produce a live stream using an encoder | OBS with a streaming destination | OBS is relevant when you want to configure and operate an encoder workflow. The cited BoxCast instructions explain sending OBS to BoxCast; they do not establish that OBS alone runs in the cloud or recovers automatically. |
| Keep prerecorded videos running on YouTube around the clock | StreamNeo | It is designed to loop uploaded videos from the cloud as an always-on YouTube stream. The other options described here do not have verified 24/7 operating claims in the material available for this comparison. |
1. StreamNeo: for an unattended, continuous YouTube stream
StreamNeo is the most direct fit if your goal is to keep prerecorded video live on YouTube without leaving a computer running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded material from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera and it streams to YouTube only.

2. StreamYard: for studio clip loops or scheduled prerecorded events
Looping a clip within a show
StreamYard’s help center documents a loop setting for video clips in its broadcast studio. Use this when a clip needs to repeat as part of a produced show. The documented feature is clip-level; it does not establish that the studio can keep a YouTube channel live unattended indefinitely.

Scheduling prerecorded video
StreamYard separately documents scheduling a prerecorded stream to begin at a selected time, even when the operator is not online to start it. That makes it relevant for a planned event or scheduled broadcast. It should not be treated as confirmation of continuous 24/7 looping. Check the current feature and plan availability directly with StreamYard before committing to a workflow.
3. OBS: for a hands-on encoder workflow
OBS is a software encoder, not a managed cloud service. BoxCast’s support instructions explain connecting OBS to BoxCast using RTMP or SRT integrations, or sending to a BoxCast encoder; BoxCast’s platform information also names OBS among software options. YouTube documents an encoder-based live-stream workflow as well. These sources establish encoder workflows, but they do not establish that OBS alone provides unattended cloud operation or automatic recovery.

An encoder workflow puts more operational responsibility on you: configure the stream, keep the device and connection available while streaming, and respond if the encoder or stream stops. It can suit a creator who wants control over a live production, but it is a different arrangement from uploading a playlist to a cloud loop service.
Where BoxCast fits
BoxCast is the baseline rather than an alternative in this comparison. Its plan information describes “simulated live” as rebroadcasting recorded or uploaded broadcasts to destinations at a chosen time, and lists YouTube among social destinations. It also documents OBS ingest. That may fit organizations already using BoxCast’s managed streaming platform; compare its current plan details with the exact workflow you need before switching. The available information does not establish its 24/7 operational limits or make a direct runtime comparison with StreamNeo.

What to check before choosing
- Define “loop.” A clip repeating inside an attended studio, a prerecorded event starting at a scheduled time, and a channel broadcasting continuously are separate requirements.
- Confirm who keeps it running. With a local encoder, you are responsible for the computer, encoder session, and internet connection. A cloud-loop service is intended to keep playback off your home equipment.
- Verify the exact destination and plan. Confirm YouTube support, current availability, storage or runtime limits, and whether the needed feature is included in your plan. Do not assume that a scheduled event implies continuous operation.
- Check rights and YouTube policy. Make sure you have rights to the video and audio you broadcast, and review current YouTube rules for live streams and monetization. The encoder workflow documentation alone does not establish eligibility, archive limits, or how repeated content will be treated.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; and automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
