For a 24/7 YouTube yoga or meditation stream at 1080p and 30 fps, use 14 Mbps video for H.264 or 10 Mbps video for AV1/H.265. Choose the rate for the codec your encoder actually sends. For the common H.264 setup, start at 14 Mbps, use CBR, and set a two-second keyframe interval.
YouTube does not specify a separate bitrate for yoga, meditation, or 24/7 streams. The recommendation is based on resolution, frame rate, and codec—not the content genre. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance provides the video, audio, and protocol settings to use.

The video bitrate is not the total stream bitrate: audio adds to it. The 14 Mbps and 10 Mbps values are YouTube’s codec-specific ingestion recommendations, not measurements of a particular encoder or guarantees of the picture quality viewers will receive.
Choose the rate that matches your encoder
H.264: 14 Mbps
If your encoder output is H.264, configure 14 Mbps video for 1080p30. This is the straightforward choice for a typical H.264 workflow.

AV1 or H.265: 10 Mbps
If your encoder sends AV1 or H.265, YouTube lists 10 Mbps for the same resolution and frame rate. Do not select this rate just because the encoder or streaming service supports those codecs: confirm the codec actually being sent to YouTube.
The cited guidance does not establish which codec is best for a specific yoga video or provide a yoga-specific rate. Codec compatibility and the capacity of the upload connection are practical factors in choosing between the two settings.

Allow enough upload bandwidth
YouTube advises leaving capacity above the stream’s total bitrate. Its stated rule is to allow for the primary stream plus any backup stream, then add 20%: YouTube’s bandwidth guidance.
For one H.264 stream with 14 Mbps video and 128 kbps stereo audio, that rule works out to about 17 Mbps of upload capacity, rounded, before accounting for a backup stream. This is a planning estimate based on YouTube’s guidance, not a guarantee of stability. Shared connections, congestion, or interruptions can still affect a live stream.

Set up and check the stream before leaving it live
- Configure the encoder. Set 1080p30, select the bitrate that matches its output codec, choose CBR, and set a two-second keyframe interval without exceeding four seconds. For stereo audio, use AAC or MP3 at the recommended 128 kbps. Use RTMPS if available, and Rec. 709 for SDR.
- Check connection headroom. Compare the connection’s available upload capacity with the total stream bitrate and leave the headroom described above. Include a backup stream in the calculation if you use one.
- Test a representative segment. YouTube advises testing before going live. Include audio and movement similar to the planned program so the test reflects the actual stream rather than a static image alone.
- Inspect YouTube’s preview and stream health. For an encoder-based event, start the encoder ahead of time and check the Live Control Room preview. While live, monitor stream health and the audio and video quality.
YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not specify a special operating procedure, bitrate, or continuous-stream limit for 24/7 broadcasts. The settings above address 1080p30 ingestion; they do not establish how long a stream can run without interruption.
Copyright and content checks for yoga and meditation programming
Bitrate settings do not grant rights to the material you stream. Before looping recorded classes, music, nature sounds, or guided meditations, make sure you have the necessary rights or permission for the content and its use in a live broadcast. Check that the audio and video you intend to use are suitable for your channel and comply with YouTube’s rules. A technically healthy stream can still face content or rights issues.
