If you’re searching for the best Apple TV+ shows to watch in 2026, start with the kind of story you want: Severance for an unsettling workplace mystery, Slow Horses for sardonic espionage, or Ted Lasso for a lighter comedy. This is a considered watchlist, not a universal ranking: critics and viewers weigh genre, tone, and personal taste differently. Apple now brands its service Apple TV, though many viewers still know it as Apple TV+.
The list mixes established Apple Originals with 2026 programming. Release dates below are based on Apple’s February 3, 2026 announcement; check Apple’s current title page for availability in your country.
Best Apple TV shows in 2026 at a glance
| Show | Best for | Tone | Why try it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Severance | Workplace conspiracy and sci-fi mystery | Unsettling, tense | A high-concept story about employees whose work and personal lives are separated, with the boundary between them increasingly in question. |
| Silo | Dystopian mystery | Atmospheric, suspenseful | An underground community becomes the setting for an unfolding mystery; the series adapts Hugh Howey’s Wool. |
| Slow Horses | Espionage with a comic edge | Sardonic, tense | A strong choice if you want spy-story stakes without a solemn tone. |
| Ted Lasso | Lighter comedy | Warm, upbeat | A familiar returning series for viewers who want a change of pace from thrillers. Apple announced season four for summer 2026. |
| Shrinking | Character-focused comedy-drama | Emotional, comedic | Choose it when you want a people-first comedy-drama rather than a genre puzzle; Apple identifies it as a global hit. |
| Widow’s Bay | Horror-comedy | Strange, comic, eerie | A New England island mayor encounters strange phenomena while trying to attract tourists, blending slapstick comedy with horror. |
| Dark Matter | High-concept sci-fi thriller | Tense, mind-bending | A fit for viewers who want a thriller built around speculative science. Rotten Tomatoes listed season two at 95% on its Tomatometer on September 2, 2026; that critic score is a dated snapshot, not a permanent rating. |
| The Studio | Entertainment-industry satire | Comic, satirical | Apple lists it among its Emmy-winning series, making it a natural pick for viewers who enjoy show-business comedy. |
Which Apple TV show should you watch first?
For a mystery that keeps widening: Severance
Pick Severance if you like mysteries that grow out of an unusual premise. Its employees’ work and personal lives are kept apart, but the separation becomes harder to maintain as they approach the truth. TV Guide highlights that blurred boundary, and Rotten Tomatoes includes the series in its current Apple Originals guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor a dystopian world: Silo
Silo is the choice for a slower-burn science-fiction mystery centered on an underground community. It is based on Hugh Howey’s Wool. TVLine describes season three as returning Juliette to Silo 18 and adding a historical parallel timeline, useful context if you’re following the continuing story.

For spies with a sardonic edge: Slow Horses
Choose Slow Horses for espionage that makes room for workplace comedy. Apple lists it among its Emmy-winning series, and recent entertainment coverage has singled it out as a platform standout. It suits viewers who want a tense spy plot without a uniformly serious mood.
For comedy or comedy-drama: Ted Lasso and Shrinking
Ted Lasso is the lighter option in this pair. Apple named season four in its February 2026 slate announcement, with a planned summer release; that announcement is not confirmation of its current streaming status. Check the live catalog before settling in.

Apple identifies Shrinking as a global hit. It is a character-focused comedy-drama, suited to a viewer looking for emotional beats alongside humor rather than a high-concept thriller.

The score reflects critics represented by that aggregator at the time, not audience approval or a lasting guarantee.

What’s new or returning on Apple TV in 2026?
Apple’s February 3, 2026 announcement mixed new series with returning shows, so a slate date should not be mistaken for proof that a title is available today. The announcement listed these release details:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two premiered February 27, 2026.
- Margo’s Got Money Troubles was dated for April 15, 2026. Apple described it as a family comedy-drama about a recent college dropout and aspiring writer facing a new baby and financial pressure.
- Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed was announced for May 20, 2026, with two episodes at launch and weekly episodes through July 15. Confirm its current catalog status and consult its series page for a fuller premise before choosing it.
- Ted Lasso season four was announced for summer 2026. The February announcement is a planned release window, not a current availability check.
The slate also named other projects, including Imperfect Women, Lucky, Cape Fear, and Widow’s Bay. A dated announcement alone does not establish a show’s current regional availability, so check Apple’s live listing for any title you plan to watch.
How to watch Apple TV without buying Apple TV 4K
You do not need an Apple TV 4K streaming device to watch the service. Apple lists access through Apple devices, supported smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, Android devices, and Windows or web access. Check compatibility for your specific device and region. The Apple TV 4K is one option, not a requirement if you already have a supported screen or can watch online.
Apple’s official service page describes Apple TV as the home of Apple Originals, with new releases weekly and no ads. That is Apple’s own description of its service, not an independent assessment of the catalog. The current US page displays a price of $14.99 per month after a seven-day trial. Price, trial terms, and catalog availability can differ by country and change; third-party subscriptions and some rentals or purchases are separate.
