If you want to leave T-Mobile’s network, compare prepaid plans that use Verizon or AT&T as well as T-Mobile alternatives, and check coverage where you actually use your phone before switching. Visible is one option to investigate: its official page lists a $25-per-month plan with taxes and fees included, powered by Verizon 5G and 4G LTE. If cost is your only reason for leaving, Connect by T-Mobile prepaid may be worth comparing—but it still uses T-Mobile’s network.
Start with the reason you want to switch
There are two different decisions hidden in “alternatives to T-Mobile.” You may want a lower bill while keeping T-Mobile’s network, or you may need a different underlying network because coverage or service is not working for you. A prepaid brand’s name alone does not tell you which network it uses or how it will perform at your home, workplace, and regular travel destinations.
- Price is the main problem: compare T-Mobile prepaid options alongside other carriers’ prepaid plans. Connect by T-Mobile offers 30-day prepaid plans and allows customers to bring their own device, according to T-Mobile’s plan page. It is not a network alternative.
- You want to leave T-Mobile’s network: investigate plans on Verizon or AT&T, including prepaid brands, then verify the network and current terms directly with the provider.
Options to put on your shortlist
Visible: a Verizon-network option to check
Visible’s official page advertises unlimited data on Verizon 5G and 4G LTE for $25 per month, with taxes and fees included. Its page lists typical 5G/4G LTE download speeds of 20–148 Mbps and upload speeds of 2–15 Mbps. Those are disclosed typical ranges, not a promise of the speeds you will get: local signal, device, congestion, and location can change performance. Check the plan’s current Broadband Facts disclosure for high-speed data, priority, hotspot, and post-allowance details before enrolling. See Visible’s plan page.
Connect by T-Mobile: a prepaid option on the same network
Connect by T-Mobile is a 30-day prepaid service, with refill due at or before the end of each period; the official page also says you can bring your own device. It may suit someone seeking a lower-cost T-Mobile option, but it does not solve a need to move off T-Mobile’s underlying network. Review T-Mobile’s current plan terms for available plans and details.

Other prepaid brands: verify live terms before comparing
Prepaid offerings from Verizon, AT&T, Mint, Cricket, and other providers may be worth investigating. Consumer comparison coverage discusses prepaid savings and lower-cost network options, but current official rates and features for each brand are not established here. Start with the provider’s own plan page and Broadband Facts disclosure rather than relying on an old price or a brand’s name. See NerdWallet’s comparison of cheap phone plans and Tom’s Guide’s cheap phone plan comparison as starting points, then confirm details with the carrier.

Coverage where you use the phone
Check the relevant network at home, work, and places you regularly travel. Coverage maps and typical-speed disclosures can help narrow choices, but neither guarantees indoor reception or street-level service. Ask whether your unlocked phone is compatible and confirm porting requirements before you cancel your existing line.

Recurring price, not just the advertised price
Work out the ongoing cost after any introductory period. Include taxes and fees, required multi-month prepayment, and any autopay condition. A low first-month price is not a meaningful comparison if the renewal amount or payment commitment changes the total.
Data, priority, and video
“Unlimited” does not by itself describe how data behaves. Look for the amount of high-speed data, what happens after it is used, whether speeds may be reduced, and how service is treated during congestion. Check for any video-quality limits in the current disclosure.

Hotspot and extras
Check whether hotspot use is included, how much hotspot data is available, whether it has a speed cap, and whether it draws from the phone’s shared data allowance. Count international use, streaming, or other perks only if you will use them enough to justify any difference in plan cost.
Renewal, cancellation, and support
Compare prepaid renewal rules, cancellation terms, device compatibility, number-porting steps, and the support channels each carrier makes available. Do not assume customer-service quality from a plan price or brand reputation alone.

A practical way to choose
- Decide whether you need a different network. If you do, exclude plans that run on T-Mobile’s network even if their brand names differ.
- Check likely-use locations. Compare coverage for the networks behind the plans at home, work, and common travel destinations.
- Confirm your phone can move. Check compatibility and the provider’s porting steps before ending service with your current carrier.
- Compare the full recurring cost. Include renewal pricing, taxes and fees, prepayment requirements, and autopay conditions.
- Read the plan disclosure. Confirm data priority, high-speed allowance, hotspot rules, and what happens after any allowance is reached.
- Choose based on your actual use. Weigh coverage, data, hotspot, flexibility, and support needs rather than treating the lowest advertised price as the best plan.
When there is no universal best choice
The right alternative depends on your location, number of lines, data use, hotspot needs, and travel. The available plan information does not establish one carrier as best for every reader or support a precise current price-and-feature ranking across all the brands mentioned. Confirm the latest terms on each carrier’s official page before switching; prices, availability, and plan conditions can change.
