The best Cambridge Audio earbud alternative depends on which Melomania you mean and what you want to improve. For everyday listening, consider the Sony WF-C710N for noise cancellation and spatial audio, the Technics EAH-AZ80 as a premium alternative to the M100, or the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro as a lower-cost option. Compare fit, battery life, calls and current local pricing before choosing.
First, identify which Cambridge Audio earbuds you own or are considering
Cambridge Audio’s Melomania M100 and A100 are not the same design with different names. The M100 uses a traditional earbud shape and emphasizes battery life. The A100 has a stem, is lighter and more compact, and adds features including DynamEQ and improved microphones. Cambridge says the A100 was designed to complement the M100, not replace it; its FAQ was published on June 27, 2025, and revised November 5, 2025.
The A100 SE is a further revision, so do not assume every A100 specification or review observation applies to it. TechRadar’s A100 SE review describes an open presentation and comfortable long sessions, but says its touch controls can be unreliable in use. Those are the reviewer’s impressions, not guarantees for every listener.
If longer playback is the reason you are looking beyond Cambridge, check which battery measure matters to you: a single charge or the total with the charging case, and ANC on or off. Cambridge lists the M100 at up to 16 hours per earbud and 52 hours total with ANC off, or up to 10 hours per earbud and 33 hours total with ANC on. These are manufacturer-stated maximums, not guaranteed everyday runtimes. Cambridge lists the M100 as IPX4 and the A100 as IPX5; water resistance does not mean waterproof. Want stronger noise cancellation?
Start with the Sony WF-C710N if ANC is your priority. Tom’s Guide says the Sony’s ANC algorithm is stronger than the A100’s at the A100’s price point. That is a specific comparison, not a claim that Sony will cancel more noise for every listener: seal, ear shape and the sounds around you affect what you hear.

TechRadar’s roundup cites 7.5 hours for the WF-C710N and 5.5 hours for the Cambridge model discussed in that passage, with ANC on. Treat those figures as tied to that guide’s comparison; they do not establish case-inclusive runtime or a general result for every Cambridge model. Check the exact model and test conditions before using battery numbers to decide between them.
Need a premium alternative to the M100?
Consider the Technics EAH-AZ80 if you want a more premium build than the M100. SoundGuys describes their ANC as similar in its comparison, while reporting less battery life for the Technics. If listening time between charges is a priority, weigh that trade-off against the build and other features you value; the comparison does not establish a universal sound-quality winner.

Looking for a lower-cost alternative?
SoundGuys names the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro as a cheaper alternative to the M100 and speaks positively about its sound and noise cancellation. Its article price is not a reliable current quote. Compare live local prices for the exact model, and make sure the cost difference matters more to you than the fit, controls and features of the alternatives.

- Fit and shape: Choose between a stem design and a traditional or compact bud shape based on comfort and stability in your ears. If possible, buy from a seller with a return policy that lets you check the fit.
- Sound: Prioritize the tuning you enjoy rather than assuming one product is objectively best. Codec support such as aptX Lossless matters only when your phone or other source and listening setup support it.
- Battery: Compare earbud runtime with earbud-plus-case runtime, and check whether figures are for ANC on or off. Manufacturer maximums and review figures may use different conditions.
- Calls and controls: If you take frequent calls, investigate microphone performance for the specific model. If you rely on playback controls without reaching for your phone, consider whether the control method suits you.
- Water resistance: Match the stated rating to the exposure you expect, such as sweat or rain; an IP rating is not a promise that earbuds can be submerged.
- Price and availability: Check the exact model and current local listing. Prices, stock and regional availability can change, and a guide’s former price or award may no longer reflect what you can buy.
