You no longer have to treat 1,000Hz as a hypothetical target: LG and Acer announced 24.5-inch, Full HD 1,000Hz monitors in 2026. But the best alternative depends on whether you value the highest refresh rate above resolution, panel characteristics, or a refresh rate your PC can use consistently. For a speed-focused step down, consider ZOWIE’s 600Hz XL2586X+; for a sharper OLED image at high refresh, compare Samsung’s and MSI’s 500Hz QD-OLED models. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent proof of a competitive advantage.
Which monitor should you choose instead of chasing 1,000Hz?
Choose by the trade-off you actually want. If your priority is maximum refresh at Full HD, compare the newly announced 1,000Hz models. If you want a speed-focused esports display from an established lower refresh tier, consider ZOWIE’s 600Hz XL2586X+. If you want higher resolution and OLED characteristics while keeping a very high refresh rate, look at the 500Hz QHD QD-OLED options from Samsung and MSI.
There is no evidence here that any one of these monitors makes players win more or react faster. The manufacturers’ figures establish announced specifications; they do not establish comparable real-world competitive performance. Price, local availability, warranty, ports, and how well your PC runs your games also belong in the decision.

What the refresh-rate number does—and does not—tell you
Refresh rate describes how often the display can refresh its image, not the frame rate your PC will produce or the complete delay between an input and what you see. The time between refreshes is about 1.67 milliseconds at 600Hz and 1 millisecond at 1,000Hz, calculated from the rates. Those intervals are not measurements of total system input lag, a player’s perception, or match outcomes.

Your GPU and the game matter: a monitor’s maximum rate cannot make a system render frames at that rate. Dell’s 2026 monitor guide advises matching a target refresh rate to GPU frame output. Consider the frame rates your hardware can sustain in the games and settings you actually use, rather than choosing solely by the largest number on a product page. Dell’s guide
Check whether a maximum is native, overclocked, or tied to a mode
“Up to” figures can refer to different operating conditions. LG describes the 25G590B as native 1,000Hz at Full HD. ZOWIE says the XL2586X+ reaches 600Hz without overclocking. Dell lists the AW2524HF at 500Hz overclocked. Those are meaningful distinctions when comparing specifications.

A maximum may also require changing resolution. Acer’s XB273K V7 is listed as UHD at 160Hz, with a Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) mode that reaches up to 500Hz at Full HD. It is a useful example of why the resolution attached to a peak refresh rate matters: the 500Hz figure does not apply at UHD. Acer announcement

For the highest listed refresh rate at Full HD
Compare LG’s 25G590B and Acer’s XB253Q U1 as announced 24.5-inch Full HD 1,000Hz choices. LG specifies IPS and native 1,000Hz operation; Acer lists VRB Pro, FreeSync Premium, G-SYNC Compatible and DisplayHDR 400. These specifications do not establish which display has better motion clarity or performance in play. Check the exact regional model and its retail availability before deciding.

- Every millisecond decides victory or defeat. With a blistering 360Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms (GtG) Fast IPS panel, this 27" monitor delivers buttery‑smooth motion with virtually zero ghosting or blur. Track enemies across the screen, react instantly, and never miss a frame – whether you're in a clutch round or a high‑speed race.
- High refresh rate monitors often force you to choose between speed and image quality. Not this one. QHD (2560×1440) resolution paired with Fast IPS technology gives you stunning detail and consistent colors from any 178° viewing angle. With 120% sRGB, 90% DCI-P3, and Delta E<2 factory calibration, colors are vivid and true-to-life–perfect for competitive gaming and creative work.
- Dark corners hide enemies; washed‑out highlights ruin immersion.HDR400 delivers brighter highlights and deeper shadows, so you can spot threats hiding in the dark without losing detail in bright explosions. Combined with 400 nits brightness and 1000:1 contrast, every scene looks balanced and realistic.
- Screen tearing, stuttering, and motion blur are game-killers. This monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible for tear-free, lag-free gameplay on any GPU. Plus, ELMB SYNC (Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync) works simultaneously with variable refresh rate – eliminating both ghosting and tearing in one go. Smoothness you can see and feel.
- Neck pain and awkward angles shouldn't be part of your setup. Adjust height (0–3.94in), tilt (-5°~+15°), swivel (±45°), and pivot 90° for portrait mode – ideal for coding, streaming, or vertical shooters. The sturdy stand keeps the monitor rock-solid, and VESA 100×100mm mounting lets you go wall‑mounted or arm‑mounted for a clutter‑free desk.
For a speed-first 600Hz option
ZOWIE’s XL2586X+ is a 600Hz Fast-TN monitor with DyAc 2. ZOWIE says it reaches 600Hz without overclocking. It offers a lower refresh target than 1,000Hz, but the published specifications alone cannot determine how much difference an individual player will notice. Consider its panel trade-offs and whether its motion-handling approach suits your preferences.
For QHD resolution and OLED characteristics
Samsung lists the 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF at QHD, 500Hz and 0.03ms GTG; MSI lists the 26.5-inch MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50 at 500Hz and 0.03ms GTG. These pair a higher resolution than Full HD with OLED panel characteristics, rather than pursuing the maximum refresh number. GTG response specifications are not directly interchangeable with system latency, and local price and stock should be checked.

For high refresh on an IPS panel
Dell’s 2026 guide lists the Alienware AW2524HF as a 24.5-inch Fast IPS display with 500Hz overclocked. That makes it a relevant comparison if you prefer an IPS category display and accept that its peak rate is marked overclocked. Dell also lists the AW2725DF at QHD 360Hz QD-OLED and the AW2726DM at QHD 240Hz QD-OLED; these are lower-refresh options for readers weighing resolution and panel type differently. The listings are Dell’s recommendations, not an independent comparative test. Dell guide
Use this checklist before buying
- Refresh-rate condition: Is the advertised maximum native, overclocked, or available only in a different resolution mode?
- Resolution: Does the monitor retain the resolution you want at the refresh rate you plan to use?
- PC performance: Can your GPU and chosen game settings produce frames near your target rate?
- Panel and image priorities: Would you rather prioritize speed, IPS, Fast-TN, or QD-OLED characteristics?
- Motion and VRR features: Check the exact listed blur-reduction and variable-refresh features, and whether they fit your setup.
- Practical ownership: Confirm regional availability, current price, warranty, port support, and the specifications of the precise model sold in your market.
What is established about 1,000Hz monitors?
By 2026, LG and Acer had announced 24.5-inch Full HD monitors rated at 1,000Hz. Their announcements establish that these products and specifications were announced; they do not establish independent competitive testing or a measurable advantage for players. A faster refresh number may matter to a player’s priorities, but it cannot by itself answer whether the display is the right choice for a particular game, PC, or budget.
