BenQ announced its RD Series of monitors for programmers on May 8, 2024. The lineup has since grown from five original models to include the RD280UG, with later regional announcements adding further details about the RD320U and RD320UA. The range combines different screen shapes and sizes with coding modes and, depending on the model, features such as USB-C power delivery, KVM switching and adjustable stands.
What is the BenQ RD Series?
The RD Series is BenQ’s monitor line designed and marketed for programming work. In its May 2024 announcement, BenQ called the products “programming monitors” and described coding modes for light and dark themes, a dedicated Coding HotKey, and features intended to support long work sessions. Those comfort and productivity benefits are manufacturer claims; the announcements do not provide independent testing or quantified outcomes.
The first announcement named five models: RD240Q, RD280U, RD280UA, RD320U and RD320UA. BenQ has since announced the RD280UG and published additional model-specific information for the RD320U and RD320UA in India. Features differ across models, so the RD label alone does not guarantee a particular panel treatment, stand, lighting feature or connection.
How the announced models compare
BenQ’s 2024 lineup offered three screen formats. Its rationale for the taller 16:10 and 3:2 screens is that they can show more code vertically; that is a design rationale, not evidence of a measured productivity improvement.

What coding and comfort features does BenQ describe?
Coding modes and display controls
The 2024 announcement describes modes for light and dark coding themes, selected with a dedicated Coding HotKey. BenQ says the RD280UG offers Dark Theme, Light Theme and Paper Color modes. The India announcement for the RD320U and RD320UA calls out Dual Coding Mode and Coding HotKey. These descriptions are specific to the cited announcements and do not establish that every feature appears on every RD model.
Panel, lighting and eye-care features
BenQ’s original release says Fine-Coated Panel and MoonHalo features vary by model, and lists Night Hours Protection and Brightness Intelligence Gen2 among the series features. Its RD280UG announcement specifically names a Nano Matte Panel and MoonHalo bias lighting. For the RD320U and RD320UA, BenQ India lists Low Blue Light Plus, Brightness Intelligence Gen2, Night Hours Protection and Flicker-Free technology. These are vendor specifications and comfort claims, not independently verified reductions in eye strain.

Connectivity and multi-device work
Connectivity and multitasking features depend on the model. BenQ’s 2024 release describes USB-C Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for daisy-chaining extended displays and KVM functionality, while warning that features vary by model. Later announcements give more specific details:
- RD280UG: USB-C with up to 90W Power Delivery, a built-in KVM for two devices and Display Pilot 2 support. BenQ says Display Pilot 2 is compatible with macOS, Windows and Linux.
- RD320U / RD320UA in India: USB-C with 90W Power Delivery, KVM, and multi-source PIP/PBP are listed in BenQ India’s announcement.
- Original RD Series: BenQ described MST for extending displays from USB-C, but the release does not establish that capability for every model.
Check the specification for the exact model and market before choosing a monitor for a laptop, daisy-chain setup or multi-computer desk.

Stands, orientation and workspace fit
BenQ’s original announcement said the family would include adjustable and fixed-stand options. It does not map every stand option to every model in that release. For the RD280UG, BenQ specifies a rotating hinge with auto pivot; for the RD320UA, BenQ India identifies an Ergo Arm. Choose based on the screen geometry and adjustment you need, rather than assuming every RD monitor has the same stand.
Announcements, prices and availability
BenQ announced the RD Series on May 8, 2024. On January 21, 2026, BenQ US announced the RD280UG with a $759.99 MSRP and said it was available for preorder at BenQ.com and select retail partners at that time. That is an announcement-time US price and preorder statement, not a current price or guarantee of stock.

BenQ’s materials establish the announced model names, selected specifications and the company’s intended use case: programming. They do not establish through independent testing that coding modes reduce eye strain, improve focus or raise productivity. Treat those benefits as claims, and compare the exact model’s screen format, stand, connections and controls with your own setup before buying.
