The Beats 360 are over-ear headphones, not earbuds. “True wireless” describes how their electronics are arranged: each earcup has its own battery, antenna and processing components, rather than relying on as much hardware routed through the headband. Their fit remains circumaural, with cushions that sit around the ears.
What “true wireless” means in the Beats 360
Beats and Apple classify the Beats 360 as over-ear headphones. The unusual part is their internal architecture, not their shape: T3 reports that each earcup contains separate batteries, antennas and processing components. That arrangement reduces hardware passing through the headband; it does not make the headphones in-ear earbuds. T3’s report on the Beats 360 design describes that distinction.
Beats’ listed specifications include custom dual-magnet dynamic drivers, active noise cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB-C charging. Apple and Android compatibility is listed, but some functions depend on the device ecosystem and software. Check the current Beats product page for operating-system requirements and feature availability before relying on a particular function.

What stands out in day-to-day use
Replaceable cushions and headband padding
The earcup cushions and headband cushion are interchangeable, giving the headphones a customizable look and feel. Beats sells additional cushion kits separately. Apple’s US listing says the kit is not included; a TechRadar report dated September 22, 2026, put the US kit at $49.99 and reported an introductory $9.99 price through October 31, 2026. That offer was time-limited, so check the live listing rather than assuming it still applies. Apple’s US Beats 360 listing provides current purchase details; the dated promotion was reported by TechRadar.

Sweat and splash resistance
The headphones carry an IPX4 rating, which indicates resistance to splashing water. Beats positions them for active use, but IPX4 does not mean waterproof: do not treat them as suitable for swimming or submersion. See the Beats specifications for the rating.
Fold-flat form and noise control
The Beats 360 fold flat for storage and offer both ANC and Transparency mode. ANC is intended to reduce surrounding noise; Transparency mode lets more of the environment through. Their combination of a fold-flat design, interchangeable padding and splash resistance is more distinctive than the “earbuds” metaphor alone.

Battery life, charging and price
Beats claims up to 32 hours of listening time with ANC and Personalized Spatial Audio enabled. The company also says a five-minute Fast Fuel charge can provide up to one hour of playback. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results; actual battery life can vary with settings and use. Beats’ product page lists the battery and charging claims.

What to know before choosing them
Wired airplane audio
T3 reports that the Beats 360 have no wired audio connection. That limits direct connection to seatback entertainment systems that require a cable; a Bluetooth transmitter may be an option, but compatibility depends on the system and transmitter. T3 contrasts this with the Beats Studio Pro, which has a 3.5 mm input. Verify the connection method you need before traveling. T3’s connectivity report covers the distinction.
Wear detection
Tom’s Guide notes that the Beats 360 lack wear detection, so playback does not automatically pause simply because you remove the headphones. The review also discusses them alongside the Bose QuietComfort (2nd Gen) and Sony WH-1000XM5; those are comparison points in that review, not a guarantee of matching prices today. Who the design may suit
- Consider them if you want over-ear headphones with ANC, a fold-flat form, replaceable cushions and an IPX4 rating for sweat and splashes.
- Look for another option if a built-in wired input is essential for your usual listening setup, or if you expect automatic pause when taking headphones off.
- Check the current Beats feature and compatibility details if you depend on a particular Apple or Android function; not every feature works identically across ecosystems.
