Early footage of BeamNG.drive running on PS5 Pro hardware has drawn an enthusiastic reaction, but it does not establish the game’s final console performance or prove that the game has PS5 Pro-specific enhancements. Push Square attributes the footage to YouTuber MuYe and describes what it sees; the developer’s confirmed PS5 release date is 19 October 2026, with VR and mods unavailable at launch.

What the first PS5 Pro footage shows—and what it doesn’t

Push Square reports that YouTuber MuYe shared footage of BeamNG.drive running on a PS5 Pro and characterizes it as impressive. That is the outlet’s observation of attributed footage, not an independent performance test or a measured result. The available reporting does not establish a frame rate, resolution, image-quality setting, or how the footage was captured.

Nor does the footage confirm that the game has features specifically enhanced for PS5 Pro. Sony says PS5 Pro enhancements are available only in selected PS5 games and vary by title. The sources reviewed do not identify a game-specific Pro enhancement for BeamNG.drive, say that a Pro is required, or show how the game performs on a base PS5.

When does BeamNG.drive come to PS5?

BeamNG’s official announcement sets the PS5 release for 19 October 2026. That date is upcoming as of 7 October 2026. The announcement also expects PC version 0.40 around the PS5 release; it does not establish that the console version will have feature parity with PC.

Launch limitations

  • VR: Not supported at launch.
  • Mods: Not supported at launch.
  • Future feature parity: BeamNG has not confirmed its timing or scope across platforms.

These are the developer’s stated launch caveats, not a complete list of everything the PS5 version will include.

Why the footage is attracting attention

BeamNG.drive is a driving simulation built around deformable soft-body vehicle physics. Instead of treating a car as a rigid object, the game models vehicles as networks of nodes and beams that can flex, deform, or break during simulation. BeamNG CEO Thomas Fischer called it “a driving sim unlike any other, powered by an uncompromising real-time soft-body physics engine” in a developer-authored overview published on PlayStation Blog.

In that overview, Fischer says the physics engine updates at 2 kHz. Push Square separately reports a 240 Hz figure for vehicle components, but the sources do not explain whether the numbers describe different systems or measurements. They should not be treated as interchangeable performance figures.

What the developer says the game includes

Fischer’s overview describes a dozen open-world maps, a broad range of vehicle configurations, customization, races and time trials, and Freeroam with optional simulated traffic. These are features in the developer’s general description of the game, not a verified, exhaustive list of what will be present in the final PS5 launch build.

The move to console follows years of players asking, in the developer’s words, “When console?” The upcoming PS5 release answers that question for PlayStation, while the launch caveats leave the availability and timing of some PC-associated features unsettled.

Should you choose a PS5 Pro for BeamNG.drive?

The footage alone is not a reason to buy a PS5 Pro specifically for this game. The official release is for PS5 generally, and the available sources do not confirm a Pro requirement, a game-specific Pro enhancement, or a performance comparison between the Pro and base PS5.

Sony’s 2024 PS5 Pro launch announcement listed 67% more GPU compute units, 28% faster memory, and rendering up to 45% faster than the then-current PS5. Those are Sony’s platform-level claims, not measurements of BeamNG.drive. Sony’s announcement also listed launch MSRPs of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY including tax; these are historical launch prices, not verified current retail prices.
