For smoother, more deliberate fights in Bayonetta 3, treat Demon Slave as a brief tactical tool: choose a demon for the problem in front of you, watch your magic gauge, and return to Bayonetta before enemies can punish her while you are controlling a summon. For learning, use Training Mode or lower the difficulty; for performance, be realistic—reports on the original Nintendo Switch describe frame-rate and presentation limitations, and no documented setting guarantees a fix.
How to use Demon Slave without getting hit
Demon Slave gives you direct control of an Infernal Demon during combat. Its attacks consume magic while the demon is active, and Bayonetta is vulnerable while you control it. That makes timing and positioning as important as the summon’s damage. Nintendo’s Bayonetta 3 product page explains the vulnerability; director Yusuke Miyata’s basic-controls guide describes the magic cost and combining demon attacks with Bayonetta’s own.
- Summon with a purpose. Use a demon when its attack, reach, or ability helps with a current enemy or situation, rather than keeping control active by default.
- Keep an eye on two things. Track the magic gauge and Bayonetta’s position. If enemies can reach her while you are steering the demon, shorten the summon window.
- Return to Bayonetta. Resume her attacks or dodge when the immediate opening has passed, then summon again when it serves a clear purpose.
- Experiment with combinations. Miyata recommends blending demon attacks with Bayonetta’s attacks to build combos while managing magic. This is a tactical approach, not a guaranteed optimal rotation.
Miyata put the idea this way: “By efficiently stringing Infernal Demon attacks together with Bayonetta’s, you’re in for a treat as you execute some stylish and dynamic combos as you attempt to efficiently retain your magic power.”
How to choose a demon for the encounter
There is no single summon that is best for every fight. Miyata says demon abilities differ and that which abilities are advantageous can change with the situation. Nintendo also describes Demon Masquerade as channeling the demon associated with a weapon into distinct abilities and attacks. The game lets you equip up to three Infernal Demons, so try different options and pay attention to what helps against the enemy or obstacle you are facing. How to practice without making mastery a requirement
If combat feels overwhelming, use the game’s built-in practice and assistance options rather than treating every difficult encounter as a test of perfect execution. Nintendo lists Casual, Standard, and Expert difficulties, and says you can switch among them at any time. It also lists Training Mode and the Immortal Marionette accessory, which can automatically defend and perform combos with one button. These are ways to reduce friction while you learn; choose the level of assistance that keeps the game enjoyable.

Why Bayonetta 3 can feel choppy or visually busy on Switch
Review coverage of the original Nintendo Switch release describes occasional camera trouble in tight, hectic fights and noticeable resolution scaling in handheld during especially intense scenes. A Nintendo Life report on Digital Foundry’s October 2022 technical analysis also identified performance and frame-rate limitations on the original Switch. These are historical observations about that release, not a current benchmark across Switch hardware revisions. Nintendo lists the game for handheld, tabletop, and TV play, but the available evidence does not establish that changing a particular setting will resolve frame-rate dips.
Nintendo’s version 1.1.0 update notes document a release dated October 27, 2022, with Naive Angel Mode options, balance adjustments, and other gameplay fixes. They do not state that the update fixed frame-rate issues. The cited technical reporting does not establish a guaranteed performance improvement from lowering TV output resolution, buying a controller, or using a microSD card. Nintendo mentions extra storage only as a possible requirement for downloads when console storage is insufficient; storage is not a performance fix.

What is known about performance on Switch 2
The cited reporting and official update information do not establish an official Switch 2 benchmark or a patch-specific comparison. They therefore cannot support a reliable claim about how the game performs on newer hardware. Avoid treating the 2022 analysis as a measurement of current Switch 2 behavior.
