“Battery saver” works differently on Android, iPhone, and Windows, so the right fix depends on your device. First check that you’re using the correct setting for your model and software version; then look for documented automatic behavior that might explain why the mode won’t stay on. If the toggle is missing or still won’t activate, the available guidance does not establish one cause that applies to every device.
Start with the right setting for your device
The feature may have a different name or menu location depending on your platform. Android phones may call it Battery Saver or low power mode; iPhones call it Low Power Mode; Windows 11 calls it Energy saver. Android steps also vary by manufacturer, and Windows labels and controls can vary by version.
| Device | Feature and setting path | What may affect activation |
|---|---|---|
| Android | Settings > Battery > Battery Saver, where available | Menu and schedules vary by manufacturer and software version. |
| iPhone 14 and earlier | Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode | Turns off at 80% charge or higher. |
| iPhone 15 and later | Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Low Power Mode | Supported models with Adaptive Power enabled may turn it on at 20%. |
| Windows 11 | Settings > System > Power & battery > Energy saver | Microsoft describes it as activating when the battery is low; controls vary by version. |
Android: check the manufacturer’s instructions
Open Settings and look under Battery for Battery Saver or low power mode. Google notes that some phones use these names and directs users to the device maker’s support instructions for exact steps. The menu and scheduling options are not uniform across Android devices. Google’s Android Battery Saver guidance explains the general path and the device-specific qualification.

If you cannot find the control, identify your phone model and Android version, then consult the manufacturer’s current support page for its power-saving feature. A missing toggle alone does not establish that the phone is faulty, and the general Android instructions do not identify one universal restriction that prevents activation.

iPhone: use the menu for your model
On iPhone 14 and earlier, go to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. On iPhone 15 and later, go to Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Low Power Mode. Apple also documents Control Center as another way to activate the mode. See Apple’s Low Power Mode instructions for the supported paths.
If it turns off after charging
This can be expected behavior: Apple says Low Power Mode turns off once the iPhone charges to 80% or higher. If you want it on again, check the setting after charging rather than assuming it will remain enabled.

If it turns on near 20%
On supported iPhone models, Adaptive Power can turn on Low Power Mode when the battery reaches 20%. Apple describes this behavior in its Adaptive Power guidance. This automatic activation may explain why the mode changes state without you switching it manually.

Some Microsoft material uses the older name Battery Saver. A technical article gives a default automatic trigger below 20% for the Windows versions it covers: Windows 10 and Windows 11 24H1 and earlier. That threshold and label should not be assumed to apply to every newer Windows release. Check the Windows version and its current Energy saver controls; Microsoft’s power configuration reference documents the version scope for the technical Battery Saver information.
