Axiado announced an oversubscribed $60 million Series C on December 4, 2024, to advance its hardware-based security and management chip for accelerated-computing and AI data-center platforms. Maverick Silicon led the round; Samsung Catalyst Fund, Atreides Management and Crosslink Capital also participated. The financing is no longer Axiado’s latest: the company announced a separate $100+ million Series C+ on December 2, 2025.

Who invested in Axiado’s $60 million Series C?

Axiado’s December 4, 2024 announcement said the round was oversubscribed and led by Maverick Silicon. Samsung Catalyst Fund, Atreides Management and Crosslink Capital participated. The company said it would use the investment to continue product innovation, strengthen relationships with NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Arm, and accelerate go-to-market work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs).

In a TechCrunch interview, CEO Gopi Sirineni said the funds would help take the product to mass production and begin revenue generation in 2025. That was a stated goal, not confirmation that either milestone was achieved.

What is Axiado’s Trusted Control/Compute Unit?

The Trusted Control/Compute Unit (TCU) is Axiado’s system-on-chip for security and management in accelerated-computing and AI data-center platforms. The company describes it as integrating compute, networking and accelerator-management functions, with security anchored in hardware rather than relying only on software controls.

Security components

Axiado says the TCU combines a Secure Vault root of trust and cryptography core with Secure AI, a per-platform threat-detection engine. The company describes Secure AI as pre-emptive and designed to detect, quarantine and protect against breaches, vulnerabilities and attacks in hardware. Those are Axiado’s stated capabilities; the cited coverage does not establish independently tested attack-prevention results or show that the TCU can prevent every ransomware incident.

The security problem is substantial: EE Times reported more than 2,500 publicly claimed ransomware incidents in the first half of 2024, averaging more than 14 per day. Separately, Axiado’s release cited the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center’s 2023 annual report, which said reported U.S. cybercrime costs rose 22% to more than $12.5 billion. These figures describe the wider threat environment, not performance measurements of Axiado’s chip.

Can the TCU reduce data-center cooling and energy costs?

Axiado’s Dynamic Thermal Management (DTM), embedded in the TCU, uses on-chip AI cores to predict and adjust cooling requirements from real-time data. The company says it can manage either air- or liquid-cooled systems, with the goal of improving server energy efficiency and supporting lower-carbon data centers.

The available coverage does not provide independently measured energy savings, a comparison against other thermal-management systems, or a quantified reduction in cooling costs. DTM’s potential benefit should therefore be understood as a company-described capability, not a verified savings figure.

How does the financing fit Axiado’s funding history?

Funding event Reported amount and date What the cited coverage establishes
Series B $25 million, reported about three years before the December 2024 Series C EE Times reported this earlier round.
Series C $60 million, announced December 4, 2024 Axiado said the round was oversubscribed; Maverick Silicon led it.
Series C+ $100+ million, announced December 2, 2025 Axiado’s news archive lists this later financing, making it newer than the $60 million round.

Published totals for Axiado’s cumulative funding after the 2024 Series C do not agree. EE Times put the total at about $108 million, while TechCrunch reported about $140 million. The cited accounts do not reconcile the difference, so neither figure should be treated as a settled total.

What Axiado said it would do next

Alongside product development and work with platform vendors, Axiado described plans to expand its OEM/ODM route to market and geographic reach. The company said it had doubled headcount in Taiwan and India, expanded its San Jose team by 30%, and opened an India office. TechCrunch also reported a partnership with manufacturing firm Jabil. These details describe the company’s stated expansion and commercial plans; they do not by themselves establish product availability or completed production milestones.
