Loom administrators should upgrade to version 1.7.0 and follow the credential-remediation steps below. SageMaker Unified Studio customers should restart Spaces on affected, supported Distribution lines so they pick up the deployed patch. The issues involve different products and conditions; the bulletins do not establish a general compromise of AWS accounts or SageMaker projects.
What the two AWS bulletins cover
The disclosures affect different parts of the products and have different attacker prerequisites. AWS’s Loom for AWS bulletin 2026-124-AWS describes risks in the agent control plane and its MCP/A2A integrations. Its SageMaker Distribution bulletin 2026-125-AWS concerns validation of network connectivity when a SageMaker Space starts in Unified Studio.
| Disclosure | Attacker precondition | Potential impact | Remediation approach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loom for AWS: CVE-2026-103956 | Deployment has no identity provider configured; an attacker can reach it over the network. | Administrative control of the agent control plane, potentially including registering tool servers, reading stored integration credentials, and rewriting IAM role policies attached to managed agent roles. | Upgrade Loom to 1.7.0; secure identity-provider configuration and complete the credential response steps. |
| Loom for AWS: CVE-2026-103957 and CVE-2026-103958 | Authenticated user has mcp:write or a2a:write scope. |
Disclosure of OAuth2 client secrets or another user’s access token; or outbound requests to internal network locations with readable responses, potentially including the container credential-vending endpoint. | Upgrade to 1.7.0 and restrict powerful scopes to trusted administrators while arranging the update. |
| SageMaker Unified Studio: CVE-2026-104019 | Space startup validation encounters certain insufficiently sanitized connection details; the stated temporary execution-role credential risk applies in projects with Trusted Identity Propagation enabled and a contributor-or-higher attacker. | Code execution in another project member’s Space; in the specified trusted-identity condition, possible access to that member’s temporary execution-role credentials and downstream services enabled for trusted identity propagation. | AWS deployed a fix globally for supported Distribution versions; restart Spaces on affected supported minor lines. |
How to remediate Loom for AWS
Upgrade to 1.7.0
AWS recommends Loom 1.7.0 for all three CVEs and says forks or derivative code should incorporate the fixes. Version 1.6.1, released August 4, 2026, addressed the unauthenticated control-plane issue and blocked internal-address access for one code path, but it did not fully fix OAuth2 token disclosure or address the outbound-request issue. Treat 1.7.0—not 1.6.1—as the remediation target for the complete set.
Reduce exposure while preparing the update
- Before exposing the backend beyond loopback, ensure a Cognito user pool or active external identity provider is fully configured.
- Confirm
LOOM_ALLOW_UNAUTHENTICATED_LOCAL_DEVis unset in deployed environments that are not local development. - Limit
mcp:writeanda2a:writescopes to trusted administrators. AWS describes this as interim risk reduction, not a substitute for the code fix.
Complete the post-upgrade credential response
- Rotate OAuth2 client secrets configured for MCP/A2A integrations.
- Revoke and reissue access tokens that were active during the affected window.
- If container role credentials may have been accessed, rotate the IAM role’s session credentials and review CloudTrail for unintended use.
Which SageMaker Distribution versions are affected?
AWS lists these affected and fixed lines for CVE-2026-104019. “End of support” lines are marked affected, but the bulletin lists no fix for them.

How the SageMaker fix reaches Spaces
AWS says it deployed the fix globally across supported SageMaker Distribution versions. In Unified Studio, a Space adopts the latest patch of its minor line when it restarts after the patched image is deployed; customers do not need to select a version. Restart Spaces running affected supported lines to apply the update. The bulletin lists no workaround.
The credential impact described by AWS is conditional: it concerns projects with Trusted Identity Propagation enabled, where a contributor or higher could potentially obtain another member’s temporary execution-role credentials and call downstream services enabled for that propagation. The bulletin does not report confirmed exploitation, affected-customer counts, or an incident count.
