For a 24/7 YouTube channel built from scheduled, pre-recorded videos, StreamNeo is the simplest first option to consider: it runs uploaded videos from the cloud, at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Among the alternatives documented here, Castr is the closest managed match for scheduled cloud playout to YouTube. Wowza is a configurable server-software route, while StreamYard is documented for live production and recording—not scheduled continuous playlist playout.
AWS Elemental MediaPackage does a different job: it packages and originates an incoming video stream as part of a larger delivery workflow. Replacing it may mean replacing one component, or replacing the whole AWS stack that ingests, encodes, packages, and delivers video. The right choice depends on which job you need done, your audience and delivery costs, and how much infrastructure you want to operate.
What MediaPackage does—and what an alternative must replace
AWS describes MediaPackage as a just-in-time packaging and origination service: it takes incoming media and provides delivery formats in response to playback requests. It can be part of a resilient 24/7 channel workflow, but it is not by itself a scheduled-video playout service. AWS’s example architecture uses MediaLive for ingest and encoding, MediaPackage for packaging, and CloudFront for delivery. If you need a complete replacement rather than a packaging component, compare the whole workflow. AWS MediaPackage FAQ · AWS Live Streaming deployment guide

Its comparisons with other packaging products are also vendor-authored claims.

Which alternative fits a 24/7 YouTube channel?
For a channel that loops uploaded videos, prioritize scheduled playout and direct YouTube output. For an incoming live feed, compare packaging, ingest, encoding, and delivery components instead. These options are not interchangeable without checking the workflow.
1. StreamNeo: cloud playback of uploaded videos
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud loops the video, so your computer and home connection do not have to remain on. It is the clearest fit here when you want continuous playback without operating an AWS stack or a streaming server. See StreamNeo.
- One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; the video streams as made, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists, 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support.
- The first day is free with no card, once per account. Billing options are a day, a week, a month, 6 months, or a year; cancel any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Contact support for 5 or more slots.

2. Castr: managed scheduled playout
Castr’s platform page describes a 24/7 cloud playout channel for scheduling uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams into a continuous channel. It also describes setting a start time for a finished video and sending the resulting pre-recorded live stream to YouTube, Facebook, or an RTMP destination. That makes it the closest documented managed alternative in this comparison for scheduled continuous YouTube output. The platform page also lists RTMP and SRT ingest, live transcoding, multistreaming, hosting, and monetization capabilities. Confirm that the features and limits you need are included in the selected plan. Castr platform
Castr’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, listed these monthly USD prices and bandwidth limits. The prices are vendor-listed, may change, are not India-specific quotes, and do not establish taxes or overage costs. Confirm current plan terms, concurrent streams, YouTube destination support, storage, billing currency, and bandwidth rules before committing. Castr describes multi-CDN delivery and a 99.9% uptime SLA as vendor claims, not independently established performance results. Castr pricing

3. Wowza: configurable streaming-server software
Wowza Streaming Engine is server software that can be installed on server hardware or deployed with major cloud providers. Wowza’s video pricing page describes 24×7, simulated-live, and large-event streaming as available. This is a plausible route for a technically capable operator who wants configuration control and can handle deployment and operations. The official pages reviewed do not establish a turnkey equivalent to Castr’s scheduled YouTube playlist workflow. Ask Wowza to confirm YouTube output, scheduling and automation, hosting model, channel count, and the complete cost before treating it as a direct replacement. They cannot be compared fairly with a managed plan until delivery, infrastructure, support, transcoding, and bandwidth are aligned. Wowza Streaming Engine pricing
4. StreamYard: hosted live production, not established playlist playout
StreamYard’s pricing page describes live streaming and recording plans and says customers can pay in USD or Indian rupees. The reviewed page does not establish scheduled, continuous cloud playlist playout to YouTube. Consider it for creator-led live shows or multistreaming, not as a proven standalone answer to an automated 24/7 channel requirement unless StreamYard confirms that workflow. StreamYard pricing

How to compare total cost, not just the packaging line item
AWS bills MediaPackage live packaging based on video ingested and content originated or packaged. AWS recommends a CDN such as CloudFront to cache content and reduce MediaPackage origination volume. A complete AWS bill can also include MediaLive encoding and viewer delivery, so MediaPackage’s charge alone is not the workflow cost. AWS MediaPackage pricing
AWS’s deployment guide provides modeled one-hour examples accessed in 2026. They are configuration examples, not quotes for a 24/7 channel or an Indian creator. Both are for US East (N. Virginia), assume viewers consume the highest bitrate, and assume a 99% CDN cache/hit ratio. AWS says its examples are likely higher than actual costs and that prices can change.

| 10,000 viewers; HD-1080p profile | $3.75 | $0.28 | $9.01 | $1,492.56 | approximately $1,505.60 |
These scenarios illustrate how audience delivery can dominate the estimate; they do not predict the cost of your channel. Model your own encoding profile, viewing hours, bitrate, cache behavior, region, and audience. For India, also verify provider billing currency, taxes, applicable regions, bandwidth limits, storage, and overages. The available published figures do not establish a matched India-specific all-in cost comparison.

Checks to make before choosing a workflow
- Playout or packaging: Do you need a schedule for finished videos, or do you already have an incoming live feed that needs packaging?
- YouTube output: Is direct YouTube output supported, and how are stream keys, destinations, and reconnects handled?
- Protocols and encoding: Which ingest protocols are supported? Is transcoding or adaptive bitrate output required?
- Resilience: What failover, reconnect, or recovery behavior is included, and what is the operator expected to monitor?
- Full monthly usage: Include viewer delivery, bandwidth caps and overages, storage, encoding, packaging, and any additional instances or support.
- Location and latency: Check service availability in the regions you need and how the chosen delivery path affects viewers.
- Operations: Account for setup, updates, scheduling, monitoring, incident response, and recovery—not only software fees.
- India terms: Confirm billing currency, taxes, payment methods, and support terms directly with the provider.
AWS constraints that are easy to misread
AWS’s current live quota documentation lists a maximum 24-hour time-shifted manifest length and a maximum 24-hour Live-to-VOD manifest length. These are limits on those manifest features; they do not mean a channel can run for only 24 hours. AWS also says the services in its deployment guide are available only in specified AWS Regions, so check its current regional services list when designing a deployment. Copyright and YouTube policy still apply
A continuous stream does not change your rights to the material or YouTube’s rules. Use video and audio you own or are licensed to broadcast, and check any license terms that restrict live streaming, territories, or duration. A tool that loops uploaded videos does not grant permission to use them. Review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules before building a channel around reused material; the providers described here do not remove those obligations.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI is accepted. Start your free StreamNeo day.
