For a conventional Hindi music stream with a persistent visual, use 1080p30 H.264, CBR at YouTube’s recommended 14 Mbps, a two-second keyframe interval, and stereo AAC at 44.1 kHz/128 Kbps as a starting profile. These are YouTube recommendations, not a MediaLive preset or a guarantee of uninterrupted service. Build and test the complete source-to-YouTube path, verify that each MediaLive input and output supports the codecs and protocol you choose, and arrange the music rights and operational recovery separately.
Recommended MediaLive and YouTube starting settings
The settings below are a practical starting point for a standard-definition-range music program, such as a continuous playlist with a still image or other persistent visual. YouTube’s published recommendations specify the encoding values; they do not certify a particular AWS MediaLive configuration or guarantee stable 24/7 delivery.
| Setting | Starting value | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec | H.264 | AWS lists H.264 for the MediaLive RTMP input path; check support for the specific output group and destination as well. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p30 | Choose a lower profile if it better fits the source, available capacity, and viewers’ connections. |
| Video bitrate and rate control | 14 Mbps, CBR | YouTube’s recommended H.264 ingest bitrate for 1080p30, not a measured outcome. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Audio codec | AAC | Confirm support in the MediaLive path you configure. |
| Audio format | Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 128 Kbps | YouTube’s published stereo audio guidance. |
For a lower-bandwidth option, YouTube recommends 8 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30. Select resolution and bitrate with the actual source, audience connection quality, and delivery architecture in mind. A static visual may not need a high frame rate, but the choice is a production decision rather than a special music-channel requirement.
YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 among its supported RTMP/RTMPS ingest codecs, up to 60 fps. That broad ingest guidance does not mean every codec is available through every MediaLive input or output path. In particular, AWS lists H.264 video and AAC audio for the MediaLive RTMP input path; verify the exact supported codecs for the path you intend to use before configuring it.
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
How MediaLive connects a source to YouTube Live
MediaLive receives an audio/video source, transcodes it, and sends an output to a downstream destination. AWS describes these as the channel’s three functional parts: an input, the MediaLive channel, and one or more outputs. The YouTube stream URL and key belong in the selected output encoder configuration. MediaLive input settings instead describe how your source reaches AWS.
- Choose a continuous source. Decide whether an upstream encoder will push a feed to MediaLive or whether MediaLive will pull a source such as HLS. Ensure the source can supply the audio and any visual program continuously.
- Choose a compatible MediaLive input. For a public RTMP push input, attach a MediaLive input security group to filter which source IP ranges may push to it. AWS creates two input destinations for a standard-class public RTMP push input and one for a single-class input.
- Create and configure the MediaLive channel. Select an output group and encode the video and audio using settings supported by that group and destination. A channel processes one attached input at a time; schedule actions can switch inputs.
- Configure the YouTube destination. In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the stream URL and stream key, then enter them in the chosen MediaLive output configuration. YouTube describes the key as similar to a password and address: it identifies where the encoder sends the feed and allows YouTube to accept it.
- Test the complete path before relying on it. Confirm that the source arrives, the channel produces the intended output, YouTube receives it, and audio and visuals are correct. Test any source switching or failover arrangements too.
Mind the RTMP and RTMPS boundary
YouTube recommends RTMPS. AWS documents that MediaLive’s RTMP input does not support RTMPS. This restriction concerns that input type; it does not establish what every MediaLive output can do. Do not paste a YouTube RTMPS endpoint into an AWS RTMP input field. Choose an output and destination path that supports the protocol YouTube expects, then verify its exact settings in the current AWS console or API before building the channel.

If the source is HLS
AWS supports HLS as an input option. It classifies an HTTP/HTTPS HLS source as live only when its buffer segments setting is between 3 and 10. AWS does not recommend Amazon S3 as a live source. Treat a playlist or continuous HLS feed as a source with its own continuity and buffering requirements, not as proof that the MediaLive channel will remain live indefinitely.

Choose single- or two-pipeline operation deliberately
AWS recommends the standard channel’s two-pipeline design for resiliency. The two pipelines process independently, but redundancy requires more than enabling a channel option: the upstream system must supply two sources, and the downstream destination must be able to receive two outputs.

- Plug-and-play connectivity to computer or mobile device (no special drivers required)
- Loopback function makes it easy to mix mic and instrument inputs with background music, game sounds, or other audio input from a computer – and send the stereo mix back to the computer for streaming
- High-performance A/D converter with resolution up to 24-bit/192 kHz provides crystal-clear output for voice and instruments
- Equipped with a single mic input (XLR or ¼"), two LINE inputs for guitar and keyboard, and USB-C input for connecting to a computer
| Architecture choice | What it entails | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard channel with two pipelines | Two independently processing pipelines, with two upstream sources and downstream capacity to receive two outputs. | A design that requires pipeline redundancy and has the source, destination, network capacity, and operations to support it. |
| Single-pipeline channel | One processing pipeline. It avoids the two-pipeline source/output duplication requirements, but does not provide that pipeline redundancy. | A design whose requirements and risk tolerance do not call for the standard channel’s two-pipeline arrangement. |
The best choice depends on system requirements, not on whether the program is Hindi music. Confirm the current MediaLive input class and channel design for your intended architecture rather than assuming that a two-pipeline setting alone creates end-to-end failover.
Bandwidth, testing, and continuous operation
YouTube recommends sufficient upload capacity for the primary stream, backup stream, and 20% headroom. That recommendation concerns capacity beyond those stream requirements. For a cloud-to-cloud output path, assess the actual architecture and destination rather than applying an on-premises encoder rule without adjustment.

A schedule or an always-on channel does not by itself establish uninterrupted 24/7 delivery. Source continuity, input recovery, channel operation, output connectivity, YouTube ingest, monitoring, and timely intervention all affect availability. AWS and YouTube’s technical guidance does not certify any particular 24/7 music-channel configuration.

Encoding settings cannot establish whether a recording is cleared for continuous YouTube streaming. Before broadcasting, confirm rights for the actual catalog, including the relevant recordings and compositions, territories, platform, and continuous-broadcast use. Technical readiness is not permission to stream the music.

Also decide whether the program includes a persistent visual or is audio-only, and choose an appropriate output group. AWS supports audio-only outputs in certain groups, but the right choice depends on the intended program and selected MediaLive path. The settings above assume a visual program.
Cost planning
There is no defensible MediaLive cost estimate from the encoding profile alone. AWS cost depends on the region, channel class, output profile, runtime, destination, and supporting services. Price the architecture you actually select, including any duplicated inputs or outputs and other services it needs, using current AWS pricing information for your region.
Troubleshooting common setup failures
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| MediaLive does not receive the source | Input type, source endpoint, or access filtering. | Check that the upstream system is sending to the configured input destination and that the input security group permits the source IP range for a public RTMP push input. |
| YouTube does not accept the output | Destination protocol, stream URL/key, or codec compatibility. | Verify the YouTube URL and key in the output configuration, confirm the selected output supports the required protocol, and check that the chosen MediaLive path supports its video and audio codecs. Do not treat YouTube’s broader ingest codec list as proof of compatibility with every MediaLive path. |
| Video or audio settings are rejected or do not match expectations | Output group and encoder settings. | Check support for the chosen output group, then compare the output with the YouTube recommendations: the selected H.264 resolution/bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval, and stereo audio format. |
| An HLS source is not treated as live | HLS buffer segments setting or source type. | For an HTTP/HTTPS HLS source, check that the buffer segments setting is 3–10. Do not use Amazon S3 as a live source based on AWS guidance. |
| A redundant pipeline cannot fail over end to end | Missing upstream or downstream duplication. | Confirm that two sources are available upstream and that the downstream destination can receive two outputs; test the complete failover path. |
| The stream is interrupted despite a running channel | Source continuity, output connection, YouTube ingest, or recovery operations. | Inspect stream health across the full path, test with representative program content, and use the defined monitoring and intervention procedure to identify the failing component. |
