TriGem USA announced the Averatec N2700 on April 27, 2009, describing a 12.1-inch Windows Vista notebook with a dual-core Intel processor, 4 GB of memory and a built-in DVD writer. The launch announcement listed a $699 manufacturer’s suggested retail price and said the notebook was shipping at the time.
What was the Averatec N2700?
The N2700 was a compact, comparatively full-featured Windows notebook introduced by TriGem USA in 2009. Its four-pound chassis combined a 12.1-inch display and optical drive with older wired connections such as FireWire and VGA. The launch announcement said it was shipping on April 27, 2009, at a suggested retail price of $699; that is historical launch information, not a current price or confirmation that the model remains available. SlashGear’s reproduction of the TriGem announcement, HotHardware and Engadget covered the launch on that date.

Processor, memory and storage
Core 2 Duo rather than Atom N270
The processor listed for the Averatec N2700 is the Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, running at 2.0 GHz. “N2700” is the Averatec notebook’s model name; it is not the Intel Atom N270 processor. HotHardware’s headline uses the notebook model name, while its story and the launch specifications identify the T6400.

Memory and drive capacity
The launch configuration had 4 GB of DDR2-800 memory and a 250 GB SATA hard drive. The manual describes two memory sockets, DDRII 667/800 support, and a maximum of 4 GB total. It also specifies support for one 2.5-inch, 9.5 mm SATA II hard drive. Those platform details do not establish compatibility for any particular replacement component.
DVD drive and connections
The built-in SuperMulti drive could read and burn DVD and CD media, including dual-layer DVDs, at a listed maximum of 8x. That was a useful distinction from many small netbooks of the period, which typically omitted an internal optical drive. The N2700 also retained several connections suited to older peripherals and displays:

How compact was it for a 2009 notebook?
At 12.1 inches and 4.0 pounds, the N2700 occupied a middle ground between tiny netbooks and larger notebooks of its time. It paired a compact footprint with a dual-core processor, 4 GB of memory and a DVD writer. TriGem USA sales vice president Henry Hewitt positioned it as larger and more powerful than a typical netbook while more portable than notebooks with 13-inch screens or larger. Those were company comparisons, not independent benchmark findings; no benchmark score is established by the cited launch coverage.

What the launch price and shipping claim mean now
The $699 figure was the manufacturer’s suggested retail price in the April 27, 2009 launch announcement, which also said the N2700 was then shipping. It does not establish a present-day resale value, current stock, or the condition and configuration of any later listing. The available sources likewise do not establish current software support or verified replacement-part availability.
The launch system ran 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium. The announcement establishes that as its original operating system, but it does not establish the N2700’s suitability for present-day use or the support status of a particular installation.
