If your Astro A50 Gen 4 firmware update is stuck or failing, first confirm that Astro Command Center detects the headset and base station, the base is connected to your computer by USB, and the headset is seated on the base and showing that it is charging. On Windows, also set the base station to PC mode. Then retry the update through Astro Command Center. Logitech’s published instructions describe this setup, but do not provide a guaranteed fix for a stall at a particular percentage.
Check the software and connection before retrying
Use Astro Command Center, which Logitech lists as supporting the A50 Gen 4. Logitech provides Windows and Mac software routes on its Astro Series Software & Download page. Software availability and distribution can change, so check Logitech’s current page rather than relying on an old installer or an unofficial firmware download.
- Open Astro Command Center. Logitech’s Windows instructions identify the A50 Wireless + Base Station Gen 4 and describe connecting it over USB. They list Windows 10 and 11 and were last updated on 2023-02-16. Logitech’s Mac instructions also identify Gen 4 support; the page’s software details are older, so check the current software page for availability.
- Connect the base station to the computer by USB. Logitech’s firmware update instructions describe connecting the base station to a PC with its USB power cable. That article is labeled Gen 3, so it supports this shared connection workflow—not a Gen 4-specific fix for stalled progress.
- Seat the headset on the base station and check its charging indication. Logitech’s update workflow says the headset should be placed on the station and show that it is charging before Command Center prompts for firmware updates for the headset and base station.
- On Windows, set the device to PC mode. Logitech’s Windows setup instructions specify PC mode. If the software does not see the device, check this setting and the physical USB connection before starting another update attempt.
Retry once through Astro Command Center
When the app detects the device and the headset is seated and charging, retry the update through Astro Command Center. If it fails again, note the percentage or error shown and whether the app detects the headset, the base station, or both. Reports of stalls at points such as 50% or 75% come from individual users; they do not establish a typical failure point or a fix that works universally.

Check the connector on your base station before choosing a cable. Logitech’s cited instructions require a USB connection but do not specify a cable connector or show that replacing a cable repairs a failed firmware write. A retailer-hosted troubleshooting guide also suggests connection checks; treat it as supplementary advice, not a Logitech-verified firmware recovery procedure.

Handle reset and manual firmware advice cautiously
Some community reports describe resetting the headset with the Game and Dolby buttons or attempting a manual firmware update, with mixed outcomes. The Best Buy-hosted guide also describes a 15–30 second Game-plus-Dolby reset, resynchronizing on the powered base, and trying other USB ports or a computer. These are supplementary reports, not a guaranteed Logitech fix for a stalled Gen 4 update. Do not use an unverified firmware file, attempt a downgrade, or open the headset and disconnect its battery based on an individual post.
Logitech’s generic support pages include a notice that its Firmware Update Tool is no longer supported or maintained. That notice does not establish that Astro Command Center is discontinued; Logitech’s Astro software page continues to provide Astro Command Center routes for Windows and Mac.

When to contact Logitech support
Contact Logitech support if Command Center cannot detect the headset or base station, the official update flow fails repeatedly, or the headset remains unusable. Logitech’s firmware instructions direct users with problems to support. Include the headset generation, computer platform, where you obtained Astro Command Center and its version if visible, whether the app detects each device, the displayed progress point, and any error message. The official material cited here does not establish a current firmware build that specifically fixes update stalls or a vendor-verified recovery step for a particular percentage.
