The July 15, 2026 announcement concerns specific layers—not every Intel 18A layer or every Intel product—and does not quantify High-NA-specific yield, throughput, cost, or output gains.
What ASML announced
In its July 15, 2026 Q2 results presentation, ASML described a new High-NA EUV readiness milestone involving the first high-volume logic product. The presentation says Intel Foundry had entered high-volume manufacturing for a subset of Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, code-named Panther Lake, using ASML EXE High-NA EUV technology.
ASML says specific Intel 18A layers in Oregon are now dual-qualified on High-NA EUV, and that products are shipping to customers at yields matched to the NXE platform. Those are company-reported claims; the presentation does not state a numerical yield or provide independent verification.
What “qualified” means in this announcement
The milestone is about qualifying and integrating the High-NA EUV process option on select product layers. It is not evidence that all Intel 18A layers use High-NA EUV, that all Intel products use it, or that High-NA has replaced conventional EUV. Intel Foundry executive Naga Chandrasekaran said the companies are also developing future options for upcoming nodes, indicating ongoing development rather than a universal transition.

Chandrasekaran characterized the existing tool fleet as providing customers with “increased output” as a result of the qualification. That is a qualitative statement in ASML’s presentation: it gives no High-NA-specific output figure or measured change in yield, throughput, cost, or production volume.
How High-NA EUV fits into the technology roadmap
High-NA refers to a higher numerical aperture in the lithography system’s optics. ASML’s 2024 annual report describes High-NA EUV as 0.55 numerical aperture and the TWINSCAN EXE:5000 as a system that will provide 8 nm resolution for advanced logic and memory. The same report said the EXE platform was expected to start supporting high-volume manufacturing in 2026; that was ASML’s expectation when the report was published, not a substitute for the later, more specific 2026 qualification announcement.

ASML’s 2024 report also recounted a first-ever 10 nm dense-line image, made after the system’s optics, sensors, and stages had completed coarse calibration. The report cautioned that the system was functioning but not yet at full performance in a high-volume manufacturing environment. That early demonstration is distinct from both the stated 8 nm resolution and the 2026 Intel qualification milestone.
These figures describe different things: numerical aperture is an optical-system measure, resolution is a system capability stated by ASML, and the 10 nm result describes dense lines in an early demonstration. They should not be read as interchangeable feature sizes or as evidence of commercial yield.

What the announcement does not establish
- Deployment scope: the announcement identifies select Intel 18A product layers, not the entire process or every product.
- Measured performance: it gives no numerical High-NA-attributable yield, throughput, cost, or production-volume comparison with NXE.
- Cause of increased output: Intel’s executive described increased output from the existing fleet, but the presentation does not isolate or quantify how much was caused by High-NA qualification.
- Universal readiness: the milestone concerns a high-volume product context and does not establish that High-NA EUV has become the standard for all advanced manufacturing.
ASML’s 2024 report said the EXE system could reduce process complexity by enabling single rather than multiple patterning. That is a stated capability, not a quantified cost or productivity comparison for Intel’s deployment. The presentation and report do not provide a like-for-like current cost, throughput, or yield comparison between 0.33 NA conventional EUV and 0.55 NA High-NA EUV.

The Oregon qualification is Intel’s reported production milestone. Separately, NY Creates announced that components for an ASML High-NA EUV system had begun arriving at Albany NanoTech, with the system expected to support research and development activities in early 2027 after installation. That New York installation is an R&D project forecast, not Intel’s high-volume product deployment.
