Announced in September 2025, it is Arm’s configurable compute subsystem platform: a collection of processor, graphics, interconnect, system, implementation and software technologies that silicon partners can use when designing their own mobile SoCs. Its C1 CPU family and Mali G1-Ultra GPU are intended to support faster on-device AI and graphics, but the performance figures publicized at launch are Arm’s claims, not independent handset test results.
What is Arm Lumex?
Arm announced Lumex on September 10, 2025, as a mobile compute subsystem platform focused on on-device AI. Arm describes its Compute Subsystem (CSS) approach as a pre-integrated set of compute and system components that helps partners develop chips and devices. In practice, a silicon provider configures and integrates Arm technologies into its own system-on-chip (SoC); a phone maker then uses that SoC in a device. Consumers do not buy a standalone “Lumex chip.” Arm’s Lumex product page describes the offering as CPUs, GPUs, interconnect, system IP, physical implementations and software integration.
Lumex is a 2025 platform generation, not the newest mobile CSS Arm has announced. Arm introduced CSS for Mobile 2 in September 2026; its C2 and G2 components belong to that later platform, not to Lumex.
What is inside the Lumex platform?
The 2025 generation centers on Arm C1 CPUs with SME2 and a Mali G1-Ultra GPU, alongside system components and software support including KleidiAI. Arm’s launch announcement describes Armv9.3-A CPUs and the platform’s AI, graphics and software capabilities. Read Arm’s Lumex announcement.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
- C1 CPUs: Handle general processing tasks. SME2, or Scalable Matrix Extension 2, can accelerate supported AI and machine-learning workloads on the CPU.
- Mali G1-Ultra GPU: Handles graphics, including ray tracing, and can also perform parallel computing tasks.
- KleidiAI and software integration: Help developers and frameworks make use of supported Arm CPU and GPU capabilities.
These are platform building blocks, not a guarantee that every Lumex-based SoC or phone contains identical components or delivers the same results. Silicon partners adapt the design to their products.
How much faster is Lumex?
Arm’s September 2025 launch materials make several performance claims. They are useful for understanding what Arm says the platform is designed to improve, but they should not be read as independent test results for every Lumex phone. The launch summary does not supply the full workload, device configuration, thermal conditions or comparison details needed to predict a particular handset’s performance.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
| Area | Arm’s reported claim | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| CPU AI performance | Up to 5x faster AI performance on SME2-enabled CPUs, reported by Arm at Lumex’s September 2025 launch. | “Up to” is a peak claim for supported workloads, not a result guaranteed across apps or devices. |
| Ray tracing | 2x ray-tracing uplift with Mali G1-Ultra versus the prior generation, reported by Arm at launch. | The launch highlight does not establish that every phone will achieve this uplift in a game or other real-world use. |
| CPU performance progression | Six consecutive years of double-digit IPC gains for flagship devices, according to Arm’s 2025 announcement. | This describes Arm’s stated progression in instructions per cycle (IPC); it is not one benchmark result for Lumex. |
| GPU AI inference | 20 percent faster inference across AI and ML networks versus the previous-generation Immortalis-G925 GPU, according to Arm’s technical blog. | This comparison names the GPU baseline, but remains an Arm-reported result rather than independent device testing. |
Arm’s executive vice president of Edge AI, Chris Bergey, framed the launch by saying, “AI is no longer a feature, it’s the foundation of next-generation mobile and consumer technology.” That is Arm’s strategic positioning, not a neutral measurement of how much AI a phone user will experience.
What does Lumex mean for on-device AI?
On-device AI runs at least some of its processing locally on a phone rather than sending every task to a remote server. That can enable features such as translation, image or scene understanding, speech processing and personalization. Lumex is intended to give chip designers CPU, GPU and software options for these workloads; the actual features depend on the SoC, phone maker’s implementation, software and applications.

Arm’s November 19, 2025 update said vivo and OPPO were shipping Lumex-based devices and described applications spanning translation, vision, speech and personalization. It also mentioned participation from app and developer ecosystems including Alipay, Alibaba Taobao, Google apps and gaming apps. The update did not name specific phone models, so it does not support a model-by-model buying recommendation. See Arm’s adoption update.
Which phones use Arm Lumex?
Arm reported in November 2025 that vivo and OPPO were shipping Lumex-based devices, but its cited update did not identify the models. Because Arm supplies platform IP to partners rather than selling a retail Lumex processor, the platform name may not appear clearly in a phone’s consumer-facing specifications. Confirm a specific handset’s SoC and manufacturer disclosures before treating it as Lumex-based.

How Lumex differs from Arm CSS for Mobile 2
Arm announced CSS for Mobile 2 on September 8, 2026, after Lumex. Arm describes it as a platform for agentic AI and cinematic mobile graphics. It combines a C2 CPU cluster, including C2-Ultra and C2-Pro CPUs, two SME2 units and a Mali G2-Ultra NX GPU with dedicated neural accelerators. These are successor-platform components; they should not be confused with Lumex’s C1 CPUs and Mali G1-Ultra. Read Arm’s CSS for Mobile 2 announcement.

The platform’s claimed peak gains do not by themselves predict sustained speed, battery life, heat, app compatibility or gaming performance in an individual phone. Those outcomes depend on the partner’s chip configuration, the phone’s cooling and power settings, software support and the workload. The sources cited here establish Arm’s design and announcement claims; they do not provide independent, device-level benchmark validation or enough model detail to compare Lumex phones directly.
