ARK: Survival Ascended’s September 30, 2026 update brings three different changes: Gargantar for ARK: Dragontopia owners, Cerberax in Fantastic Tames Season 1, and a Therizinosaurus refresh in the base game. The two new creatures are DLC content; the Therizinosaurus changes are part of the base-game update.
What arrived in the September 30 update?
Studio Wildcard announced the additions alongside server version v94.7, dated September 30, 2026. They are not three creatures unlocked in the same way: Gargantar is tied to ARK: Dragontopia, Cerberax is part of Fantastic Tames Season 1, and the Therizinosaurus receives a base-game TLC. The announcement identifies Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam availability for the announced content.

What does Gargantar do?
Gargantar is the hungry dragon. Studio Wildcard says it grows tougher as it inhales creatures and resources. It can shelter allies inside its body, then expel enemies and swallowed contents as acidic spit and vomit. Access is for ARK: Dragontopia owners; the announcement does not state a price.

How does Cerberax work?
Cerberax is a three-headed combat hound whose attacks use fire, venom, and electricity. Studio Wildcard says those powers are deadliest in combination. Taming is described as three separate trials, with each head requiring a different approach:
- One head tests whether a Survivor will wrestle for control.
- Another responds to food.
- The third is approached through a hunt.
The creature can be ridden alone or with tribemates. Cerberax is part of Fantastic Tames Season 1, and the studio lists it on Genesis as well as the maps shared with Gargantar.

What changed in the Therizinosaurus TLC?
This is a refresh of an existing base-game creature, not a new DLC tame. Studio Wildcard says the work focuses on combat responsiveness, controls, traversal, visual progression, and personality. The v94.7 notes specify the following changes:
- Updated model, animations, and locomotion.
- Six color regions.
- An optional turn-in-place movement toggle.
- A jump.
- Visual indicators showing investment in Power and Delicate Harvesting.
The new visual indicators make the creature’s harvesting specialization visible; the announcement does not claim a separate new harvesting system.

Which content do you need?
For Gargantar, Studio Wildcard explicitly says ownership of ARK: Dragontopia is required. Cerberax is presented as Fantastic Tames Season 1 content. The Therizinosaurus TLC is in the base-game update, so it is distinct from those two DLC creatures. Availability and map placement can change, so consult the studio’s current release announcement and server notes for the latest details.
