Logitech speakers can suit music, movies, and gaming, but the right choice depends on the particular model and setup. The Z407 and Z623 are 2.1 systems with a subwoofer; the Z906 is a 5.1 surround system. Logitech’s specifications establish their layouts, connections, and features—not which one sounds best. For music or everyday desktop use, compare the 2.1 options and their inputs; for multichannel surround, consider the Z906 if you have a compatible source and room for five satellite speakers plus a subwoofer.
What “good” means for these Logitech speakers
The models covered here are designed for different setups. A 2.1 system has two satellite speakers and a subwoofer, while a 5.1 system adds more speakers for multichannel playback. That makes layout, connection options, source compatibility, and available space more useful starting points than the brand name alone.
The available specifications come from Logitech product pages and a Logitech user guide. They do not include independent acoustic measurements or comparative listening tests, so they cannot establish which model has better music fidelity, clearer movie dialogue, or more accurate positional cues in games.

| Model | Layout and Logitech power ratings | Connections and features | Consider it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z407 | 2.1; 40 W RMS and 80 W peak. Logitech lists a 20 W subwoofer and two 10 W satellites. | Bluetooth 5.0, micro-USB, and 3.5 mm input; wireless control dial with a stated range of up to 20 m, which Logitech says can vary with environmental conditions. | A desktop setup needing both Bluetooth and wired inputs. |
| Z623 | 2.1; 200 W RMS and 400 W peak; THX certified. | Two 3.5 mm jacks and RCA. | A wired 2.1 setup with a subwoofer. |
| Z906 | 5.1; 500 W RMS and 1000 W peak; THX certified, with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. | Optical, coaxial, six-channel direct, RCA, and 3.5 mm inputs. | A surround setup when the source supports the required connection or format and the room can accommodate multiple speakers. |
These are Logitech’s published specifications, not independent sound-quality scores. RMS and peak power are different ratings; neither, by itself, demonstrates that one speaker system sounds better than another.

Which model fits music, movies, and gaming?
For a mixed-use desktop: Z407
The Z407 combines two satellites and a subwoofer with Bluetooth, micro-USB, and 3.5 mm input. That combination gives it a practical advantage when you want to connect more than one kind of source or switch between a computer and a Bluetooth device. Logitech markets it for music, movies, and games, but that positioning is not an independent assessment of its sound.
For wired 2.1 playback: Z623
The Z623 is another two-satellite-and-subwoofer option, with RCA and two 3.5 mm jacks. Logitech lists it as THX certified and gives it 200 W RMS and 400 W peak ratings. Those published ratings are substantially higher than the Z407’s, but wattage alone does not establish better fidelity or a better match for your room.
Rank #2
- Convenient Control Pod
- 25 Watts (RMS) Output
- Compact Subwoofer
For multichannel surround: Z906
The Z906 is the option among these three built around 5.1 playback. Logitech lists Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, along with optical, coaxial, six-channel direct, RCA, and 3.5 mm connections. Check which outputs your computer, console, television, or other source actually provides, and whether it can deliver the surround signal you intend to use. A 5.1 layout also needs suitable placement for the additional speakers.
Check your setup before choosing
- Count the speakers and plan placement. A 2.1 system needs room for two satellites and a subwoofer; the Z906’s 5.1 layout requires space for more speakers and appropriate positioning.
- Match inputs to your sources. The Z407 offers Bluetooth, micro-USB, and 3.5 mm input; the Z623 uses RCA and 3.5 mm; the Z906 offers several wired input types. Verify the output on each source rather than assuming a device supports every connection.
- Check surround-format support. The Z906’s Dolby Digital and DTS decoding matters only if your source and connection can provide a compatible signal.
- Use power ratings carefully. RMS and peak figures describe different manufacturer ratings. They are not a direct comparison of sound quality.
- Confirm the current local listing. Logitech pages and catalogs can change, and availability and specifications should be checked for the region and listing you plan to use.
What Logitech’s specifications can—and cannot—tell you
Logitech describes the Z407 subwoofer as adding “boom” while maintaining “rich, crisp sound,” and calls the Z906’s sound “rich THX Certified surround sound.” These are Logitech’s promotional descriptions, not findings from independent testing. The specifications are useful for identifying layouts, connections, and supported features, but they do not settle subjective questions such as musical accuracy, dialogue intelligibility, or gaming-cue precision.
