Yes, according to CAP-XX’s October 2023 product guide, its H-series prismatic supercapacitors are UL-Recognized Components under UL 810A. That statement applies to the identified product family, not automatically to every CAP-XX supercapacitor, and it is not confirmation of the live certification file. Check UL’s current listing and its conditions for the exact component before specifying it.
What CAP-XX’s UL 810A claim covers
CAP-XX Product Guide v6.6, dated October 2023, says its H-series prismatic products were tested by UL and certified as UL-Recognized Components. The guide directs readers to search for CAP-XX in UL’s certification database and follow file BBBG2.MH47599. Read the CAP-XX Product Guide v6.6.
This is evidence for the H-series prismatic family described in that guide. CAP-XX also lists lithium-ion hybrid, coin-cell, and cylindrical supercapacitors, but the guide’s statement should not be extended to those product types—or to every H-series part—without confirming their inclusion in the applicable UL file.
What UL-Recognized Component means
UL Recognized status is for a component intended to be used inside a larger UL-Certified end product. It does not certify the finished equipment on its own. UL notes that a recognized component may have defined conditions of acceptability that the end-product manufacturer must address when integrating it. See UL’s component certification guidance.

For a design review, confirm that the precise component model is covered and that its conditions align with the host product. Recognition does not replace the end-product evaluation or the engineering checks needed to determine whether the capacitor suits the design.
Which UL 810A edition applies?
UL’s standards listing identifies UL 810A Edition 2 as active, with a publication and approval date of February 3, 2026. The standard covers electrochemical capacitors used in applications such as electronic products, UPSs, emergency lighting, engine starting, and power equipment; it excludes hazardous classified locations. The edition date describes the standard, not the date CAP-XX’s guide was issued or proof that a particular component file has been updated to it.

How to verify a specific CAP-XX part
- Identify the exact part. Record its model, product family, form factor, voltage, capacitance, ESR, dimensions, and intended end-product use.
- Search UL’s certification database. Use CAP-XX and the file reference BBBG2.MH47599 from the manufacturer’s guide as starting points. UL directs users to its Product iQ or certification search tools for current listings and conditions.
- Check the live scope and conditions. Confirm that the precise model and ratings are included, and review any conditions of acceptability that affect installation or use.
- Complete the end-product review. Assess the component in the context of the complete equipment; component recognition alone does not establish certification of that equipment.
The guide’s file reference is useful for locating the record, but the current status, exact covered models, ratings, and conditions should be taken from UL’s live record rather than inferred from the guide.
Why older CAP-XX announcements need context
On January 3, 2012, CAP-XX announced that its supercapacitor devices had passed UL 810A and cited possible uses including handheld electronics, SSDs, location tracking, smart meters, and small UPSs. Choosing a part for an implementation
CAP-XX lists prismatic ultra-thin, lithium-ion hybrid, coin-cell, and cylindrical supercapacitors, and refers buyers to its global distributor network. For any candidate, assess both the live UL file scope and the electrical and mechanical requirements of the design. Certification scope is not a substitute for checking fit, ratings, or intended use.
