Apple’s FineWoven iPhone cases were reported discontinued in 2024, but the evidence does not show that every FineWoven accessory is gone. Apple’s US store currently lists an iPhone FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe in Magenta. A listing confirms it remains in the catalog—not that it is in stock locally or still being manufactured.

What happened to Apple’s FineWoven cases?

In April 2024, 9to5Mac reported a claim by leaker Kosutami that FineWoven production lines had stopped. The report also described complaints from buyers about dirt, scuffs, and durability, but Apple had not announced that it was discontinuing the product. 9to5Mac’s report therefore supports saying the cases were reported discontinued—not that Apple officially confirmed the decision.

Macworld also attributed the production-stop claim to a leaker. Its April 22, 2024 report noted that FineWoven products were still available on Apple’s website and in stores at that time. That was a snapshot from 2024, not confirmation of present-day inventory. Macworld’s coverage helps explain how a product can remain listed or sell from remaining stock after production reportedly stops.

Is any FineWoven accessory still listed?

Apple’s US store currently lists an iPhone FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe in Magenta. Apple also retains FineWoven as a material filter in its accessories catalog, but a filter alone does not establish that every product using the material is available. Apple’s accessories catalog and the individual wallet listing establish that the wallet appears in the US catalog; they do not establish manufacturing status or stock at a particular store.

Apple iPhone 15 FineWoven Case with MagSafe - Mulberry
  • Made from durable microtwill, the material has a soft, suedelike feel. The FineWoven material was also designed with the earth in mind — made from 68 percent post-consumer recycled content. The case quickly snaps into place and fits snugly over your iPhone without adding bulk.
  • With built-in magnets that align perfectly with iPhone 15, this case offers a magical attach experience and faster wireless charging, every time. When it’s time to charge, just leave the case on your iPhone and snap on your MagSafe charger, or set it on your Qi-certified charger.
  • Like every Apple-designed case, it undergoes thousands of hours of testing throughout the design and manufacturing process. So not only does it look great, it’s built to protect your iPhone from scratches and drops.
  • The FineWoven material may show wear over time as the fibers get compressed with normal use. Some scratches may diminish over time. Interaction with MagSafe accessories will leave slight imprints. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use an iPhone 15 Silicone Case or Clear Case.
  • Compatible with iPhone 15

What FineWoven was designed to replace

Apple introduced FineWoven in 2023 as a textile alternative to leather in selected accessories, including iPhone MagSafe cases and wallets and Apple Watch bands. Apple described it as a twill with a soft, suede-like feel and said it contained 68 percent post-consumer recycled content. That percentage and the descriptions of the material are Apple’s launch claims, not independent findings about durability or lifecycle impact. Apple’s September 2023 launch announcement says the company would replace leather with “a new textile called FineWoven,” described as an “elegant and durable twill made from 68 percent post-consumer recycled content.”

What to consider when replacing a FineWoven case

There is no controlled durability comparison here that establishes one replacement as a fix for FineWoven’s reported problems. Treat a new woven case as a different option, not a proven improvement, and check the details for your exact phone before buying.

  • Phone compatibility: Confirm the case is made for your exact iPhone model; cases do not necessarily fit across generations.
  • Material and feel: Choose among woven textile, silicone, leather, or other materials based on the finish and handling you prefer.
  • MagSafe: Verify that the specific case supports MagSafe if you rely on magnetic charging or accessories.
  • Durability evidence: Separate independent hands-on testing from a manufacturer’s claims. Complaints reported about FineWoven are not a measured failure rate.
  • Price and availability: Check current local listings; neither the continued presence of FineWoven in Apple’s catalog nor a roundup of alternatives establishes stock or price for every option.

Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup launched with TechWoven cases, and a 2025 TechRadar roundup also discusses Mujjo leather cases as alternatives. These are categories to consider, not evidence that TechWoven has solved FineWoven’s durability issues or that the options have been compared in a controlled test. TechRadar’s roundup reflects that publication’s coverage and the author’s case experience, not testing for this article.
