No skill allocation has been proven the best for Pendola Pass yet. The most useful thing you can take into the Frozen Trail 2.0 update, which went live on October 8, 2026, is a clearly labeled starting build, plus a sense of what to swap when your playstyle calls for it. The best-documented option so far is the 76-point template from Arc Raiders Hub’s October 8, 2026 guide: 31 Mobility, 14 Survival, and 31 Conditioning. The guide itself marks it “Very Early Access,” written from the pre-release Frozen Trail tree rather than weeks of play, so treat it as a reasoned template, not a tested guarantee of higher extraction or win rates.
What Frozen Trail 2.0 adds to the map and the tree
Embark’s official 2.0 update notes list the content that matters for planning: the Pendola Pass map, map conditions called Frigate and Redirection, the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra enemies, the Bantam and Stiletto weapons, Amplified Weapons, a revamped skill tree, the Grappling Hook, cameras, the Tether Launcher, the Yank Grenade, the Mountaineer’s Detector, musical instruments, and an Outpost and Research Bench. The same notes describe a Frozen Trail Pass with 60 levels across Free and Premium tracks.
Embark’s live announcement places Pendola Pass beyond the Rust Belt, after the downed Emperor and the ARC response to it. It calls the Bully a forceful threat, the Skulker a stalking enemy, and the Hydra a squad-killer guarding the Emperor and the Frigate. It recommends preparing with new skills and gear, specifically Tethers and the Grapple Hook.

Embark’s August pre-launch announcement described a harsh frozen settlement among mountains, with villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, and said the level design emphasized verticality, exploration, and discovery. That is a statement of intent made before launch, so use it to understand the map’s design and the live notes for what is actually in the game.

How the reworked skill tree limits your choices
The tree now works on two kinds of decision. Middle-branch nodes are binary: you pick one of two skills, and you can change that pick when you reset the skill tree. At the ends of the branches, two nodes offer a choice of three skills; after the required investment, you can select up to two. Embark says it expects further tweaks as it watches how players use the revamp.
Arc Raiders Hub’s guide reports the unlock gates it observed in the pre-release tree. The middle diamond in a track opens at 10 points, and the two end diamonds open at 30 and 40 points. Security Breach is a Conditioning capstone that requires 30 Conditioning points in that plan. Because the guide warns that values may change, confirm these gates in your own tree before committing points.
Embark’s official 2.0 notes state the purpose of the revamp in one sentence: “The goal of the Skill Tree revamp is twofold: to look at under-performing skills, modify or replace them, and to get closer to the goal of making choice and expression a more core feature of the Skill Tree.”

The launch-week starting build
Arc Raiders Hub’s template is built around the principle “Move first, loot well, then commit.” It spends its points as follows:
| Branch | Points | What the template takes | What it deliberately leaves out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobility | 31 | Stamina, climbing and vaulting, scrambling up steep slopes, a no-stamina-cost vault choice, Marathon Runner, Swift Start, and the Sprinting on Fumes capstone | The alternative 30-point Mobility choices (Wall Run and In the Flow) |
| Survival | 14 | Early loot skills | The Survival capstone |
| Conditioning | 31 | The Security Breach capstone, which requires 30 Conditioning points | Not stated in the guide |
| Total | 76 | Source: Arc Raiders Hub, October 8, 2026, labeled “Very Early Access” | |
The template chases Sprinting on Fumes and Security Breach while taking the early Survival utility that helps you loot. It is a sensible spread for a first run because it gets stamina and movement down early, which is where a vertical map punishes you most.
Why movement comes first on Pendola Pass
Embark describes Pendola Pass as vertical and exploratory, and the template’s route favors movement and stamina before search and looting utility. The rationale is plausible: if you are caught in the open on a slope, stamina and climbing options matter more than an extra loot skill. Players who find themselves exposed during traversal may value the mobility emphasis. That is a reasoned editorial judgment, not a measured result, and nothing in the sources shows that this allocation makes extractions safer.

- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
The Mobility choice at the 30-point end
PC Gamer’s Morgan Park lists three Mobility options at the 30-point branch end. The template takes Sprinting on Fumes; the other two are alternatives.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute| Skill | What PC Gamer reports it does | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Sprinting on Fumes | Stops stamina from fully draining while sprinting | Long runs across open ground, and the template’s default |
| Wall Run | Lets you run a few steps up a wall | Routes with climbable walls and ledges you would otherwise reach by a longer path |
| In the Flow | Rewards chained mobility moves with speed and stamina-cost benefits | Players who chain climbs, vaults, and slides fluidly |
The skill descriptions come from one writer’s preview. Confirm the exact in-game text before you rely on specific numbers.
How to adapt the build to your playstyle
The template is a starting point. The four axes below are where the real trade-offs sit.
Rank #4
- Use cunning strategy and tactics to tame, train, ride and breed the 100+ dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the dynamic, persistent ecosystems across land, sea, air, and even underground Build your character's strengths and gain items, skills, and pet creatures using in-depth role-playing systems
- Start a tribe with hundreds of other players to survive and dominate competing tribes...and ultimately discover ARK's true purpose
- Build a fire or shelter, then craft customizable clothing & armors to help protect against damage and extreme temperatures on your way to unlocking advanced technologies and equipment
- Chop down trees and mine metal and other precious resources to build massive multi-leveled structures composed of complex snap-linked parts
Traversal and stamina
If you spend most of a run moving, keep the Mobility spend and choose the 30-point option that matches your routes. Sprinting on Fumes suits stamina-heavy routes; Wall Run suits players who want to go straight up; In the Flow suits players who chain movement.
Looting and field utility
The template spends 14 Survival points on early loot skills and stops short of the capstone. That is the guide author’s priority, not a proven threshold. If looting is your main goal, you can move more points into Survival, but you give up some Mobility or Conditioning in exchange.
Carrying capacity, combat, and access
The guide reports that carry skills have moved into Conditioning, alongside Security Breach. Choose based on whether you need to carry more, need combat utility, or need access. Verify the current skill descriptions in-game before assuming effects beyond what is quoted here.

Flexibility and reset cost
Middle-branch picks can be changed when you reset the tree, so the build is adjustable. Changing a binary pick does require a reset, and you should check the reset cost in-game before you plan a respec around a specific fight or raid.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What early hands-on reporting shows
PC Gamer’s Morgan Park played for about three hours with the update. He found the Grappling Hook expanded movement, but it took trial and error: ropes could snag, fail to grab a ledge, or slide off a large machine. He did not thoroughly test the Tether Launcher or the Yank Grenade.
He also reported that the new abilities did not change how he played in that short preview. Sprinting for longer felt useful, but many nodes remained incremental stat boosts. These are one writer’s first impressions, not a consensus or a measured result.
On design intent
Embark executive producer Aleksander Grøndal, in the official August 12 announcement, wrote: “One lesson that’s continued to shape our thinking is that the most rewarding raids are driven by meaningful choices.” It is a general statement about progression design, not an endorsement of any specific allocation, but it explains why the tree is built around choices rather than a single correct path.
Limits of what is known
No published statistic compares build win rates, extraction rates, or advantages. The 76-point figure is a recommendation from a single guide, not a performance measurement. Frozen Trail 2.0 launched on October 8, 2026, and Embark has said it will keep tuning, so skill values, unlock gates, and the Mobility options can change after balance patches. Revisit the tree after each patch before assuming the template still holds.
Quick Recap
- Check the unlock gates (10, 30, and 40 points) in your own tree.
- Read the current in-game text for each skill before choosing.
- Treat the template as a starting point and adjust after a few runs on Pendola Pass.
