Apple’s rumored smart-home hub may come in four finishes: Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink. The colors come from leak-based setup imagery and software code—not an Apple announcement—so the final lineup could change before release.
The four rumored Home Hub colors
| Reported finish | What the evidence indicates |
|---|---|
| Silver | Included in the four-color list attributed to leaker pdfu. |
| Space Gray | Included in the four-color list attributed to leaker pdfu. |
| Starlight | Included in the four-color list attributed to leaker pdfu. |
| Rose Pink | Included in the four-color list attributed to leaker pdfu. |
MacRumors reported the list on October 1, 2026, and 9to5Mac reported the same four possibilities. Both accounts describe the finishes as rumored rather than confirmed.
Why these colors are being reported
Setup-screen artwork allegedly matches hardware color
Leaker pdfu said setup-screen preview art for a reported Photo Face feature is selected according to the hardware color reported by the device. The leaker’s wording was: “Apple’s Home device may come in four finishes: Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink.” The related claim was: “The Photo Face setup screen picks its preview art based on the hardware color the device reports.” These are the leaker’s statements, not Apple’s.

Matching colors reportedly found in macOS code
MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris reportedly found the same four color names in macOS 26.7 Release Candidate code in August. That provides another leak-based clue, but software references do not prove that every finish will be manufactured or sold.

- [Multi-Protocol Hub with Matter Bridge] The M3 is a versatile hub supporting Aqara Zigbee and Thread devices. It integrates third-party devices into the Aqara Home app. Supports advanced Matter bridge functionality, enabling Aqara-exclusive scenes and signals to sync with Matter ecosystems such as Home Assistant for seamless integration. Supports up to 127 Aqara Zigbee devices (** Not third-party Zigbee devices) and 127 Thread devices (Repeaters are needed).
- [Edge Compatibilities and Local Automations] The M3 serves as an Edge Hub, prioritizing local control and automation. Upon integration, it supersedes existing Aqara hubs, shifting the automations among them to local operation (Some cloud-based notifications still require internet). Upgrade-friendly, it supports migrating Zigbee devices from older Aqara hubs.
- [Smart IR Blaster with Feedback and Learning] The 360°IR blaster not only sends commands but also provides accurate status updates by detecting traditional remote use. It connects IR air conditioning units to Matter, functioning as an AC thermostat when paired with an Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor. (Note: Only one AC device can be exposed to Matter. Functionality may vary based on the Matter integration app. For Apple Home exposure, use Matter integration instead of HomeKit.)
- [Optimal Wired and Wireless Connectivity] Offering both wired and wireless solutions, the smart home hub M3 provides dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) with advanced WPA3 security, and a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port. The addition of a USB-C port allows for mini-UPS and power bank connections, delivering unparalleled stability. (2A USB power adapter is not included. ) . Note: To ensure a stable connection, place the Hub M3 between 6 to 19 feet from the router.
- [Privacy-Focused with Encrypted Storage, Easy Setup and Versatile Placement] The M3 prioritizes privacy by excluding microphone or camera components. It boasts 8GB end-to-end encrypted local storage, for device lists, configuration parameters, and automation configuration data. Additionally, it includes a mount and screws for flexible placement on flat surfaces, walls, or ceilings. Magic Pair technology ensures effortless detection by the Aqara Home app upon power-up.
How the gray-finish report fits
Earlier in the same week, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman was described by MacRumors as saying the device would use “Apple’s standard gray aluminum finish,” without listing four colors. That does not definitively disprove the four-color leak. The reports could reflect incomplete information, different prototypes, or plans that changed during development. Apple’s final specification is unknown.
What the rumored device is expected to be
Media reports sometimes call the product “HomePad,” but that is not an established Apple product name. MacRumors has described an approximately 6-inch square display, with possible tabletop and wall-mounted versions; the tabletop design may use a metal arm and a round speaker base. These are reported design details, not a published specification sheet.
A July MacRumors summary of Bloomberg reporting said the hub could combine a HomePod-like speaker with a display. Reported uses include managing HomeKit accessories, FaceTime, photos, calendar, music, and intercom features. Apple has not confirmed the product, its name, its dimensions, its functions, or its launch date.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Reported: Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink appear in leak-based setup imagery and reportedly in macOS 26.7 Release Candidate code.
- Not confirmed: Apple has not announced the hub or approved this color list in the cited reporting.
- Still uncertain: The official name, release timing, final finishes, display size, mounting options, materials, and software features.
- Important context: The earlier “standard gray aluminum” description may be incomplete or may describe a different stage of development.
What prospective buyers should do now
There is no announced model, price, order page, or confirmed accessory requirement to act on yet. If Apple launches the hub, color availability could vary by market or configuration, and leaked finishes may not all reach stores. The reported smart-home role also does not establish that any particular Matter accessory, including a smart plug, will be required or included.
The Bottom Line
The rumored Apple Home Hub may launch in Silver, Space Gray, Starlight, and Rose Pink, but those finishes remain unconfirmed. Treat the four-color list—and the separate gray-aluminum description—as reports about a product Apple has not yet officially announced.
